Great little local pub with warm atmosphere and good vibe. Open fire in the bar. Good food. Pretty meagre beer selection though at only 4 taps and Guinness the only winter-appropriate beer. Couple of rotating taps wouldn't go astray.

Great old school pub in North Fitzroy. A real personal feel to the place. Outdoor seating is great on sunny days.

Old snug style pub, Great atmosphere, Great staff, nice place for a good drop and pub meal.
Went here for lunch, got a chicken schnitzel, and a beer.
Schnitzel was slightly overcooked and a bit on the dry side (not inedible though) 4.5/5 almost there needs more Gravy.

If you love certain staff with attitude this is the place for you. Also food is not good, was served a chicken schnitzel that was basically deep fried crumbed leather and inedible, when I raised it with staff, she just said she hopes it will be better next time. What the, left hungry without even an offer of another meal or drink. As locals we have given this place so many chances over the years, but sadly its just consistently bad.

I live across the road and only visit for the cold beer. Fit out is tired and suits the local uni crowd. The food is disappointing, basic and expensive. Nice during summer so long as you don't eat and happy to buy $10 beers.

This is my first my ever review - I've never felt the need to leave one before but my experience at the Newry left me no choice. From the bubbly, fun and inviting staff to the ain't broke don't fix it classic pub decor, there is a reason this is the place to be. Whether it be watching the footy or getting a bite to eat, make sure it's at the Lord Newry Hotel. 5/5

I love this place! It's my regular and I always feel welcome, staff go above and beyond. My family and I love coming in for dinner, especially the Beef Pie. No complaints

Had a function here and while the location and food was great, the service was abysmal. They treated us very poorly, swore at us, wouldn't serve us at the bar we had a tab on for at least 10 minutes at times, and at 11pm refused to put more money on the tab when the pub closed at 1. We felt like they were pushing us out well before the pub closed, and the original end time was 1 am. We didn't feel welcomed by the staff at all during the entirety of the night. The venue was aware we were having a function and the bar was severely understaffed for this.

Don't put your function in the hands of this lot. The bar staff were extremely rude and dismissive of us and it felt as if we were being pushed out. They decided it'd be best to end the party at 11:30 as opposed to the originally agreed 1:00 when we were willing to put more money on the tab and see the rest of the night out
Don't do bar work if it makes you miserable.

Very nice place to dine. Nice atmosphere and great food. Friendly and helpful staff. Recommend the beef and Stout pie.

This was my fav pub in the area. But i've been burned too many times to come back. It's such a cozy place but the food, music, general upkeep seem to get worse each time.

I was actually embarrassed i recommended last time and moved our group elsewhere.

Owner could make some pretty minor changes to bring this place up to standard. Start with the kitchen!

Such a beautiful pub! I was served with the most genuine smile and conversation by the lovely bartender, Rachel! I came on burger night and had the most delicious mushroom burger I've ever had. I can't wait to come back!

After waiting 3 months for the owner to send his promised follow up to my complaint I have decided to write a review.
This is my local pub that I would eat at weekly for many years and really enjoyed being able to take the short walk for a pint and parma and listen to some great music.
The Lord Newry was a favorite destination.
Unfortunately, the recent lack of customer service standards is disturbing.
My partner and I witnessed 2 staff members helping themselves to our order of chips before being taken to our table and then giving attitude instead of an apology when questioned about it. Another time 3 staff decided to fully swap each other's clothing behind the bar and one served a customer in their knickers, needless to say this sort of behavior is not really suitable for a family friendly pub.
You should expect basic professional customer service standards from a hospitality business, if they have not improved then there is no point returning.

i was in on friday and there was an older guy with tattoos who i'm going to assume was the bar manager that was yelling at a young female staff member whilst he was pouring a pint. it was so aggressive and disgusting it's stuck with me and i felt like i had to leave this review.

super off putting, had to leave straight after cos it left such a bad taste in my mouth. other customers were exchanging glances cos we couldn't believe it. dude has serious anger issues and i don't think hospitality is the place for him.

Extremely disappointing and is not careful with dietary requirements. I'm coeliac and ordered a burger with gluten free bun and salad as the chips were not gf. It was the only food I ate that night. I have since been extremely sick with a reaction to this meal. What a disgrace. Teach your staff to be careful with people's orders as it has the potential for serious health consequences.

Low quality, yuck tasting food. I wish they put a good pub here as it is a prime location and this establishment is terrible.

Booked the Newry for 25 people for my birthday. Such a great spot! The staff were super accommodating and the food was yum!

Came in for dinner and a game of pool on Saturday. Walked in and was immediately left feeling like we'd done something to seriously offend one of the bar tenders in particular, all the other staff seemed pretty laidback.
Not sure if it was a miscommunication or something? Did make us feel totally unwelcome. Not a nice vibe.

My burger was great. Customer service was utterly terrible. We asked for a sliver of lemon, the waiter/waitress handed the lemon in its hand holding the juicy part of the cut lemon slice. The carpet smells like urine and again, customer service was putrid. I wish it was better and I could give it 5 stars. 03/09/2022 at 2pm

Love the OG feel and unpretentious vibe this joint has - just a really welcoming and inclusive pub. Hard to find a legit joint like this these days.

Had the chicken Parma, it was rubbery and did taste great.

The venue is tired and is overdue for a refit.

If you come here only come for a few drinks and then move on

Dependent on company or other crowds to bolster the atmosphere.

Parma was ordinary, large chicken, good ham, poor Napoli, tiny crumb that seemed baked or fried and rather dark. Chips are in a fish and chip style, side salad was leaf only in a vinaigrette offering next to nothing, still a finishable meal just nothing spectacular. Uncertain on price given current inflationary conditions and short of a deal

Basic no frills pub. Not checking vaccinations.

Pretty standard pub food, a few beers on tap. This place's appeal is more it's vibe, very relaxed, welcoming and community feel, with friendly staff, great for a weeknight casual catchup.

COVID safety: place seemed clean, some staff wearing masks correctly, some not. Self serve cutlery.

Enjoyed the atmosphere. The meal I ordered was light on fish, however great serve of chips and salad.
