Mackey's Royal Hotel - Pub Near Me in TAS

This is one of those pubs that's desperate to get you to spend your money gambling. The food was fine, but it's nothing special and the prices are more expensive than you'd typically expect as well.

I have been going to Mackay's for years and have always been happy with the service and meals, but this time we stood in line waiting to be served whilst the waitress was having a lengthy chit chat with someone she appeared to have known, Then later when my meal was served up, I had grilled chicken with creamy garlic sauce , the chicken breast was extremely small, was partly burnt in some places and very dry , the creamy garlic sauce was not creamy, it was as if it had been watered down and quite tasteless and the vegetables were very dry , as a long standing customer, I was very disappointed 😟 hopefully they change their chef

One of the most enjoyable pubs I've ever been to, and I've been all around the world! Went on a Friday after work with my wife and the atmosphere was electric, filled with locals catching up and having a laugh. Happy hour from 5-7 made the drinks dirt cheap and they included some complementary hot nibbles which was generous. During happy hour they also had a spin the wheel raffle which you were entered in automaticly each drink you purchased. The wheel had all sorts of prices such as free food and drink. Nice and new/clean inside and excellent staff. Will be back for sure and I recommend you come along too.

It took us a while to be served. The door is probably to far and around the corner from the service area. However once we were served the food came our quick and it was really good! I'm happy paying $100 for two mains, children's meal and two drinks. Good experience and will be coming back again!
