About The Mitchell River Tavern

The Mitchell River Tavern is in Bairnsdale, Victoria. They offer accommodation.
It's very modern and comfortable place to dine. Good food at a fair price. However felt they could present a wine list with prices and then charge more! They said they hadn't updated the wine list. Not my problem. 1 very rude waitresses having a go at me. The manger sorted it but watch out. Pretty bad experience spoiling an otherwise good night.

Had to book a room at 8:30 pm due to family emergency. Opted for a budget room which was clean with a comfortable bed and small bathroom which was an older styling but clean and functional with good towels and face flannel. In all great for the price.

Service was amazing. Location is very convenient.
The room is average. But its clean and comfortable enough. Rooms like this used to cost like $85. It'd be five stars at that price.
Good WiFi. Good amenities.

Great clean and reasonably priced tavern with accommodating. A lot of stairs to the rooms, but that's because I have stairs issues (3 flights from the underground car park). Wifi was useless, staff friendly, dinner was terrific and not too expensive really, rooms and beds very comfortable. Nice to have a fridge, coffee, tea and biscuits, soaps etc...

Stopped for lunch on the way through yesterday. Fish and chips, and Spanish meatballs from the $18 lunch special menu. Fresh and tasty. They also have an extensive lunch menu. Beer at $6 a schooner and wine at $10 a glass.
Great value. Friendly attentive service. Lots to like.

Passed through Bairnsdale on a 6 hours drive and stopped for lunch, unaware that the kitchen closed at 2pm. It was 1.55pm and the lovely lady at the bistro asked if the kitchen would stay open for us. They were so accommodating for our party of 6 and the lunch was so amazing that I forgot to take photos of how wonderful the meal presented and tasted. Everyone reported the food tasted delicious, even the picky eaters. Left feeling full and content. Thanks for the wonderful service.
