Wowza!!!! what an unreal setting/theme in the bistro area. We did a simple google search for pubs with playgounds and the moreland hotel was a must. The playground is inside and massive. Kids had a blast and played non stop. The food was fantastic. We took advantage of the Monday special $20 burgers all day. Beers are normal prices around $8 a schooner. In cbd expect to pay over $12/$13

Kids meals were massive and well priced for $12 each

My partner had a birthday family dinner here recently. A table booking was 5:30 pm. We all ordered our food via the QR code on the table, we all ordered out food within 10mins. The order the food came out was so random. People who ordered after others got their meals first. People got a side dish but a good 25mins before their main meal which the side was meant to come with. It took a good 45mins for most to get their food but we couldn't eat together because it came out so randomly. After several meals incorrectly coming to our table, I finally got my food 55 minutes after ordering... 55 minutes. I was the last one left to eat and had to scoff my food as it was getting late and we wanted to have cake so people with children could go home. My schnitzel wasn't even good, thin and in a batter, basically a large chicken nugget.
I don't understand how it was so messy, the place wasn't even busy when we put our orders in, how did it take so long. After some complaints they did give the kids free dessert but they knew we had cake. Would have preferred a discount on the food or soemthing. Was my first time visiting and will be the last.

We ordered the porterhouse and scotch fillet. Unfortunately both steaks were not great, both were way overcooked, tasteless and the scotch fillet was inedible, the meat had a pungent off smell/taste to it and we returned it. The staff was very understanding and accomodating, we just got a refund for it. Perhaps it's only a Parma type of pub but definitely would not go again.

The staff were very friendly, they were attentive and provided quick service. Food was delicious plus there was a good variety of drink options. I would recommend the grilled Barramundi, it was cooked perfectly served with roasted vegetables and a choice of either mashed potatoes or chips. The portion size was generous and and all in all the meal fairly priced. Good value for money. Would happily go back here.

The Moreland Hotel is a great venue for a pub meal. Nice food, atmosphere and quick service. Nicole served us tonight and she has fantastic customer service. Will be back!

Omg this place is one of the worst pubs we have dined in.
We only came due to the reviews, how did these people rate this place so high? Astonishing!!!
When we got here, there were many tables available but we had to wait for the server to clean a table!!
We had reservations and arrived on time.
The vibe in here is a try hard vibe, the lighting is unbelievably bright and makes you feel like you're under interrogation. The kids area is the opposite, not inviting for the kids at all.

Food, was brought out at different times, we waited for the adults meals for 10 mins after the kids meals were served. The steak was dry, the gravy tasted like baby food.
The chips were fantastic!
We wanted to order more, literally zero staff anywhere!

This place sucks all round. Needs to be renovated and new staff and menu! Maybe a Greek menu, considering the decor?!?
Go elsewhere for a nice family evening.!

So we are semi regulars at The Moreland. It is close by, great value meals, and friendly service. The staff are awesome and tonight we got to chat to Aliza. What a wonderful human. Aliza was sincerely friendly and we had a wonderful chat. Thank you!

Just love the repro Romanesque decor in this hotel; like some crazy wonderful Las Vegas venue! Statue of David in a classic columned pavillion, part of the Colosseum and a magnificently painted domed ceiling of a cloudy blue sky. Anyone who sketches for fun - get in here NOW before the venue refurbs it (as planned). Don't know why this hasn't become a regular live music venue. Food is inexpensive comparative to other pubs and offers standard pub fare. Had a vegan parma and Southern chicken burger - simple but good - hot and tasty. Service (at bar and at table) was excellent: friendly and quick. Suggestion to the owners: please, please, PLEASE could you consider making a short film about the interior of this pub BEFORE you pull it down? I'm sure Brunswick is full of creatives who would be happy to help. We need a record of this glorious interior for posterity and for local history! I will be sad to see it go. And to readers of this review - if you haven't visited the Moreland hotel before, do visit. If you have, come again to say goodbye to David. ???"

Very interesting building. I thought I had walked into a food court like you see in shopping centres. Beautiful ceiling. Made to look like the sky. Big playroom for the kids. Toilets were a bit far away from where we sat. Just worried when kids wanted to keep going to the toilets even when in a group of 3.(in this day and age). Ordered food and drinks from your phone. Even though it was busy, food did not take long to be served. Only downfall was the small bowls of salad had gritty lettuce. Needs to be washed

I have been coming to the Moreland Hotel since I had black hair way back in the 80s. It has always been the best hotel in Victoria with exceptional service and staff. In particular the young male Kaidyn with the curly hair who is always smiling and extremely fast with his customer service. No matter how my day is going he will always joyfully greet me and make me my usual coffee to start the day in the best way possible. 10/10 would recommend the Moreland Hotel to everyone.

Very unique experience, you feel transported to another place once inside (they try to emulate Rome I think). We were there for an event and the food that was catered was fresh and tasty. Staff seemed quite helpful too

Went there mother's day so obviously fairly busy. Food was only just, and the decor I might say is a bit different. But each to their own. The bar and waiting staff were great.

Terrible service, rude staff, small food portions.
Would never go back... Waste of time and money.
Get new staff who don't argue with customers when you don't serve the customer what they actually order.
Customer is always right. I was in hospitality for 9 years. The Moreland staff need to listen to customers and not argue with them when order is wrong - that is basic rule number 1.
Your staff have lots to learn.

Meal sizes are large, so you get your money's worth. Staff are pretty friendly too.

Service is amazing here. Aliza went above and beyond her duty. My dad couldn't walk much. She made it easier from him. Food was very delicious. Definitely will come back.

Have had dinner there a couple of times and the meal was lovely and hot, the staff are friendly and helpful. Booked Christmas lunch there and myself and the people I went with could not praise the staff highly enough. We all had different dishes for our meals selected from a 3 course menu and everyone was highly impressed with the quality of their dishes. Not only were they hot, they were cooked to perfection. Thank you so much for making the day a perfect occasion. We will definitely be back and booking again next Christmas. Congratulations on a job well done.

Starting with the good:
We were able to wall straight in and sit at a table with a QR code to order using our phones. This was excellent.

We ordered a jug of LLB and it was perfectly portioned bitter, lemon, and soda.

Food was not presented the best this day however previous visits the food has been good so I've kept it to three stars.

The first star down:
We weren't given any cutlery or napkins. To get these we needed to go to the bar. We originally asked the waiter who said she would bring them over but they never came.

The second star down:
The food order came out wrong. There was Bacon in a meal that was meant to come with egg. Also not a huge deal breaker however when approaching the staff member she rolled her eyes and glared at me when I advised her of the issue. This made me feel like my patronage was undesirable and that I was not allowed to raise concerns regarding my meal.

My family and I were polite, accommodating, and friendly even with this service.

Perfectly good pub food. Fills the hole, especially with a glass of wine to sooth the nerves . The best bit is the playground which keeps the kids engaged, even if dinner was finished in bites between adventures.

Place looked pretty cool inside and food tatsed pretty good too!
Was good for me personally as it was very child friendly. They had a massive playground area for the kids and lots of seating options which was even better. (My daughter is rather noisy and messy ??)

A true institution. The dining bistro must be seen to be believed. The beers are always cold, clean bar tap and well priced. The food is nothing fancy but does the trick. Good value pit stop for everyone to enjoy.

What an amazing night at the Moreland Hotel!!! Taya was absolutely amazing as she accommodated our party of 12 that included 6 kids - all whilst the play area was closed. The food was amazing, her recommendations were spot on, she was warm and so attentive. Truly a wonderful night!!! Will be back again!!!

The food was amazing and place looks stunning. There was a slight issue with the food coming out later than expected, however Kalen and the manager went over and above to make up for it. Thank you and we will definitely come back here again

My family took me out for lunch for mothers day and I must say food was amazing there!! Staff were very friendly a lady named taya and the manager went above and beyond for us to make my day special.They have a great playground there so the kids were entertained the whole time.Highly recommend this place and ill be back there real soon!

Came here for mother's Day dinner with our two little boys who enjoy the playground. We hadn't indicated on our booking that we wanted to sit near the playground, and unfortunately all tables near the playground were booked. When we asked if there was any chance to move, Carly went above and beyond to have a table moved to accommodate us - so I could enjoy my mother's Day dinner with a complementary sparkling, while being able to keep a visual on the kids in the playground. I had my mothers 100th birthday at the Moreland Hotel on Easter Saturday. We were looked after so well.management and all the staff were fantastic, friendly and made everyone welcome they were so helpful in every way. Thank you to you all for making it a great day.. I attended the Moreland last Sunday for dinner with the family! Let me just start by saying the food was AMAZING!! The service was great and friendly and the place is definitely something you need to see! The kids also loved playing on the playground. Was all round a great experience! Definitely will be back!
