Quality food, well priced. Steak was cooked perfectly and the mash potato was exceptional, with fresh salad. The palmy was cooked well, nice sauce and ham but the cheese on top really made it, it was awesome. This pub is not trying to be something it's not. Nice staff, nice atmosphere. Busy but had a nice neighbourhood feel, DJ was playing good tunes. We'll be back ??'??

What has happened!!?? The Norfolk used to be such a great bar and cosy courtyard with individuality, flair and patina .. hadn't been for about 6 years but wanted to take a friend visiting from out of town there.. won't be doing that again!! The whole courtyard has been stripped bare and you can't sit indoors as the music at 5.30 pm on a Sunday was pumping so loud you can't hear anything other than it ( including the bartenders!). Then we get to the food. I have had Rico's in the past, but not here and when I had it elsewhere it was good... here, very very very bad and out of the 'special' at 5pm?? Food served on plastic plates and just 'slop'.. for want of a better word. Tacos sitting in 2mm of liquid and just a soggy tragedy. Thank heavens La Salut which is the old public bar and is amazing ( but closed last Sunday) otherwise I'd never visit this corner ever again, just so so SO sad.. the Norfolk used to be the best!!

If you like Tacos you need to check out the Norfolk! Fabulous selection of Mexican food. Very reasonable prices. Great service. Super, modern atmosphere and Mexican decor. Big selection of beers & drinks. Loved it. Thank you Rico,

Ordered a Tooheys - it was flat and terrible, and expensive. The ordered guacamole and corn chips - got a very small amount of guacamole (for $13) and loads of corn chips - way out of proportion. We were there for dinner but decided to move on. Hopefully the offering gets better in time - we loved Rico's in Chippendale.

This place is deceiving from the outside. It looks really nice inside and has been renovated recently. They have a tree courtyard rye area too. The food is nice. Went for a Wednesday night schnitzel special here which was great value. They had drag bingo too which was fun

autumn day lunchtime visit - had heard of the venue makeover months back.
i'd agree with some other comments that bar interaction was a bit weak (may be just one staff member)
eating spaces inside and at lovely rear courtyard; food delicious and served by friendly staff. understand that food operations are expensive, hence the prices aren't a bargain.

What can I say... absolutely amazing service, gorgeous food and spectacular drinks. BIG thumbs up to Hayden the assistant manager. Service with friendly banter and style. I'm an interstate trucker and look forward to coming here almost every weekend. Highly recommend to everyone!

Totally alright. It's been done up, so it's pretty out the back.

The portion sizes vary wildly. Spending in the mid-20s for a lunch can get you a giant serve with heaps of chips or something dainty and 'modern'. Not everyone in my party was pleased.

I'm happy enough, I go when others go. But it's not my top spot.

We love the Norfolk hotel and the drinks are great, the backyard space is an awesome place to sit. We had a really good steak and kids schnitzel. The kingfish unfortunately came with a terrible cous cous that had SO much salt it was inedible. I did reach out to the venue to let them know privately to check the recipe / quality control but no response.

Pretty nice, relaxing vibe inside with the comfy chairs and beachy umbrellas. Can't fault the happy hour from 4-6 pm!

The only main cause of the disappointment was the burnt tacos we were served as part of their Taco Tuesday offering ($5 a piece). Wasn't that flavorful and a bit dry, sorry :( We also got the eggplant dip as an entree which was decent albeit a small serving.

Service was nice and courteous. Happy to come back just for the drinks.

Great atmosphere, great food and completely dog-friendly. We come here regularly and is our go-to place for friends who visit the area. Highly recommend the burgers, salt and pepper squid and croquettes. Great wine selection. Completely accommodating to dogs and is a total stand-out for dining in the Surry Hills/Redfern/Waterloo area.

Tucked away at the back of this pub on Cleveland Street is an oasis with beach umbrellas and relaxing vibes.
We grabbed a quick bite to eat here, washed down with a couple of Newtowners and was not disappointed. Staff are really nice and the food was delicious.
Will definitely stop by here again next time we're in Sydney.

Dropped in for a shared pre lunch after a busy morning of moving.

We got the Mezze share plate and Salt and Pepper squid. What we got were super tasty, fresh and served with a smile (in the eyes, as the crew still need to wear masks) meals along with a chilled Sunday house soundtrack. Awesome place to hang out and the food is excellent.

The aoili matched with the squid was so good. Thick slices of smoked salmon went well with the baba ghanoush and tzatziki dips. (Could've done with a tad more pita bread)

Thanks for the great vibe! We will be back!

Not a renovation, this is a rebirth. Well done team, turning it on and turning it up. Great to see a new 'old' pub, food amazing, service great and a new must go destination.

This will be packed for all of summer and then into winter, this place will be booked out.

Fine. The loss of the crab house upstairs is detracting. The pub lacks a unique identity. Come if you happen to be in the area, hardly worth travelling for.

Ps - exceptional staff

Introduced 2 mates to Norfolk as never been. The two staff on Daisy and Sienna made it such a good time. Beinga former bar manager, these are the kind of staff you want. Friendly warm and engaging. Made our time fun and great!

Celebrated my birthday here and arranged casual drinks. Everyone who attended was so happy with the venue, the drinks and the food. It's got a lovely outdoor area and everyone was able to bring their babes, babies and fur babies. Special thanks to the owner who was super responsive with my queries and requests to decorate, the friendly bar staff and the Bistro staff at JP's who accommodated all my food requests and even helped out with the cake we brought. My friends are definitely keen to come back and happy to recommend.

Very disappointing visit last night. The bouncer was disinterested and unwelcoming. Bar staff actually critiqued the way I gave my drink order and then got it completely wrong. Minimal floor staff on so the glasses piled up on the table with us eventually clearing them ourselves.
Hospitality is about being hospitable, a bit of genuine warmth and professionalism would have changed the evening entirely. Perhaps we would have become return customers, being locals and all.

The new owners seem really nice and welcoming.

Love that there was also live music at the front of the venue.

Personally speaking, there are three things which seem to have been lost, which used to be big draw cards for this venue.

- The original taco chef. Those tacos were seriously divine and I used to go there often just for them (especially on Tuesdays). Unfortunately the new ones don't even come close.
- The grunge vibe
- The $5 house lager
