North Star Hotel, Melrose SA

We went up for an afternoon drive to Melrose and stopped in to the North Star Hotel for some lunch.

Great menu with plenty to choose from. The kids grabbed the nuggets and chips with a little salad. As for the adults, a chicken schnitzel with several sauces, toppings, and gravy to choose from, and my wife tried the Southern chicken.

I had the "Ned Kelly" topping (see photo), and the meal was great 😋

Welcoming friendly staff, quick service, and good value for money. Cold beer on tap, plus several different types of bottled beers available. A great selection of wines if that's your thing too 🍷

Would definitely recommend this quaint little country pub for anybody looking for a feed while in Melrose 😀

Great pub with a good old-school country atmosphere. There is a good drink selection with quote a few wines, if u're looking for something else than beer.
I didn't have any food there, but the menu seemed quite diverse with some interesting meals, and not just ur topical pub grub.

Honestly - ignore all the reviews from pompous wankers who think they're in inner-city Sydney. Rib eye was amazing, we got four perfectly cooked steaks with awesome sauce, thanks for the recommendation from the bar staff! Service is country-friendly; so if they tease your shirt or tell you to hurry up, that's a good thing. Warm bread & soft butter was a nice touch. Don't go past dessert, treat yourself 😀

This hotel was so cool! The building it so old and has so much character. The furniture and light fixtures are all unique and the bed is comfy. We really enjoyed our dinner at the hotel bar/restaurant and slept well here before continuing on with our journey the next day. The park just outside has loads of walking trails where you are sure to see Roos and lots of birds.
