Room was perfect. Food was really nice and the staff were very friendly. Will be back soon. The barman Greg was very friendly and talkative.

Disappointing 3/2/2024 - we ordered 4 adults meals and 3 kids meals for takeaway. Kids meals are advertised to include a soft drink and ice cream each. Upon realising we had not received either I went back in to ask. The supervisor (woman early 50s) reluctantly organised ice cream in a takeaway container. When I asked about the soft drinks I was told "no, you're taking advantage" as she walked away.

The other staff members looked apologetic, and I got the impression that this individual is often rude to others.

If kids meal extras aren't included for takeaway that's fine, but advertise it as such - and don't belittle your customers for holding the business to account for a broken promise. My experience with this individual ruined our dining experience on this occasion.

Multiple reviews on here seem to reference the poor service and attitude of the same individual, indicating an ongoing failure of the owners and management.

Months later and no response from Orford Blue Waters Hotel - either they don't care or think they can get away with it in a small town with limited dining options. Overall, this is a shining example of everything that's wrong with Tasmania - small-minded nepotism at its finest.

Disappointing and shameful.

Attended bistro with a group of friends on a Sat night. Many of our group ordered the roast lamb and all at our table were served roasts that were luke warm. One of our group had pork spare ribs that was so tough she had to send it back. The general consensus in our group is that we will not be going back and would not recommend the meals especially at the prices.

We stayed in a king room very clean - thanks room attendant.
This hotel is a gem with it's own restaurant.
I booked it over the phone (after 9am) and received an
email confirmation straight away.
It's not very well sign posted so you could sail right past.
My advice is stay there to refresh at the bar and food then
a comfy bed.
There is a small council playground out back but also an
access road so keep an eye on the little ones

A short drive from Hobart Airport, you will find this motel.
Rooms basic but very clean and with everything needed for an overnight stop. Lovely waterside walk.

I stayed here before exploring Maria Island. I'd say the best hotel I stayed in Tasmania. It's a humble and clean hotel, but yet they're offering luxurious experience. If you're a morning person, wake up before the sunrise and walk behind the hotel to catch the sunrise with Maria Island in the background. Amazingly stunning. Thanks to friendly staff who helped me to secure my wallet when I accidentally misplaced it, you're the best!

Great location within easy walking distance of estuary, beach and river. Easy location for food and the shops too. Staff were very friendly and fitted us in last minute. Room was clean and great to have a couch as well as table/chairs and seats in our King room.

Great room - lovely and spacious ( our bathroom did have a funky smell about it though?). Outside veranda with an outdoor dining table and outdoor lounge was nice.....however our room was right next to the hotel's outside dining area and because our rear veranda wasn't private, we had numerous patrons walk right up to us to smoke and make personal phone calls. I know this is a hotel but try enjoying your night listening to intoxicated swearing patrons with their cigarette smoke drifting into your room!
The noise was impossible to ignore until things quieted down after 10pm.
Big comfortable bed and very good kitchenette.
If you don't clean your dishes, you will be charged an extra $30.
If you were to eliminate the hotel, the room was perfect.

Stopped off to have a meal. The location is great with the dining room looking out to the water. The food was lovely, service great. Being a hotel they have all the usual facilities. Would I go there again sure would.

Room was clean, and our bed was comfortable. Do get a bit of road noise in the morning. Tavern attached, so good pub food available. There is not a lot to choose from in area at reasonable rates and comfort.

Lovely fresh, clean and bright room. Comfy and soft bed. Fantastic hot shower. Well located right near the water with lovely walking track. I unfortunately had very loud neighbors that kept me awake until about 1am, but this was the only negative (and nothing the venue could've done.) Would definitely stay again.

Arrived just as lunch was ending and the helpful staff rushed us through so we didn't miss out. Loads of seating available at this time and we sat outside in the garden. Good food was served quickly - the roast of the day was great!

Our room ( No 7), was lovely. bright, clean and had a small patio at the rear, with views over the estuary. The wifi however only worked when just out of the room. The restaurant in the evening very busy with a full house of families, in a canteen style environment. The open plan made it all but impossible to have a conversation without shouting. So if you are looking for a quiet evening, you're probably better off with take away on the patio or Scorchers just over the bridge

The rooms were well appointed and clean. Good value for money.

Our only dislike is that we didn't realise at the time of booking that the main road goes right past the rooms as well as the motel being a popular spot for work crews to stay (therefore walking past your rooms in the early hours and also starting their vehicles at around 6am right outside your room).

Lovely motel style option in Orford. Represented great value for money. Rooms are recently renovated with comfy beds and a nice terrace with park & water glimpses. Had a good size fridge and they supply toaster, kettle and basic stuff to eat with (knives, forks, plates, etc). Pub food next door (which you can also take away). Friendly staff, easy check in and check out.

There was a smell of drains in the bathroom, and some of the Ikea furniture not properly assembled (drawers not attached to runners) which could be dodgy for younger kids.

There was a fair bit of noise from people in nearby rooms drinking on their terraces into the night. Perhaps to be expected of accommodation next to a pub but perhaps a sign in the room and on the terrace gently reminding people of 'quiet hours' and to not be causing noise after a certain time. It was fine for us, but might put me off staying if we had kids - a sign would probably reduce ocurances.

Lovely motel though and would stay again when in Orford.

Spent a couple of nights here as a base to visit Maria Island. Our room was clean, well appointed and gave us a brilliant view of the water. Bar, dining room, gaming area, all look newly renovated. Food was excellent with a good local wine selection. All in all a great place to stay.

Convenient location rooms all ground floor view over park to water. Very clean cabin style room with small deck and outside table and chairs. Good value friendly staff. Hotel meals very good. Will go again good value.

Had a seafood platter for two for lunch, my partner had to run out to the toilet directly after eating, and then threw up again in the car park. Squid wasn't cooked. Fish batter was too thick and not cooked properly. Scallops were over cooked. Quantity was not worth the price tag by a long shot.
Wont be back for a meal.

Great to see that the Orford Blue Waters has lost all of the 80's shades of blue (outside and inside). The rooms were fresh, nicely presented and larger than expected. We were on a cycling tour and staff went out of their way to provide equipment to assist us with servicing our bicycles. The views of the river are superb (from both the dining & hotel rooms prior to sunset) and the pub meals were all well received.

Wonderful room with awesome deck and furniture! Tastefully renovated and super comfy mattress. Great lounge with 8 ball and ice cold beer. Great service in the restaurant and we had a huge table. Will definitely be back! Thanks!!

We were very impressed at the recently renovated modern room, which was nicely decorated & very clean. Our daughter slept on the pull-out sofa & there was still ample room to move around. Dinner at the restaurant was delicious.

Stopped in here for dinner. Presents as a well looked after bistro style kind of venue. 2 of us ordered the fish of the day which was salmon. At a cost of $38 each we expected top quality. Sadly the fish we received was definitely not salmon and no explanation as to why we were not getting the fish we ordered? (Perhaps a disconnect between front and back of house). Otherwise it was fine, but mainly the hefty price for a special and not getting what you ordered brought the experience down.

One night stay following a day on Maria Island. Room was especially clean and up-to-date. Comfy bed. Cheap rates! The Bistro was the surprise: tasty meals well presented. Duck spring rolls, fresh fish & beef salad packed with flavors. Beach within sight. Highly recommend for 3-star hotel.
