It's a review to the pub on the ground floor. I've been traveling in Australia for one month and had fish and chips four times during this time. Fish and chips here, especially the fish is definitely a winner! Such a delicate perfectly cooked fish, not to mention a tartar sauce. Chips were tasty, but could have been crispier. The portion is huge! Beer selection was good and the service relaxed and lovely. Great place to check out with lovely views in all directions when walking there.

Great location with many photographic vantage points depending on your room. We enjoyed the Surgeon White room.
The young staff are helpfull, freindly and proffesional in all respects.
The cocktail rooftop lounge Henry Deane's offers you a unique surprise with it's design. And I loved your 'below the belt' cocktail.

Amazing location & view in a beautiful historic building with walking distance to great bars and restaurants not to mention the in house Henry Dean rooftop cocktail bar. It has become a new favourite place to stay in Sydney.

We stayed here over the weekend for a gig. Room was incredible, history was in their leather bound book, very cool to read. A very comfortable room, and the bed was fantastic, so comfortable. Although it was small it was perfect for us, also the mini bar was 5 star. Would definitely stay there again.

Food is divine. Hot English Fish and Chips with the best tartare sauce. I am fussy on food freshness and temp 10/10
Steak cooked to perfection, service with many welcome back smiles. Staff are 10/10 too. Feels like home without the grumpy relatives. I already feel like a local.
The staff will guide you on the menu ...trust me ! 10/10 . Views from every window.
They are fabulous with kids too.

Typical inner city pub in a great location. Typical beers , sat outside with a restricted view to over the harbour bridge. Good stop as we walked from Central to Station to Circular Quay along the foreshore

It's kind of heartbreaking that such a brilliant Sydney location is ruined by staff to utterly unwelcoming and rude. I would never consider going back and I warn overseas visitors not go unless they're prepared for a venue that doesn't seem to realise they are in the 'hospitality' business.
Location - winner.
Attitude - vibe killer.

We visited to have a drink on the rooftop terrace. There is also a restaurant that are but it was fully booked on the Saturday. No tap beers available but a nice small selection of bottled beer. Beautiful view of the bridge.

Want to say a huge thank you to all the staff at Hotel Palisade you have made our 4 day stay in Sydney great.
The hotel is so close to the rock markets, Darling harbour & Circular Quay.
The rooftop bar is fantastic I had the best French Martini's & the 2 stunning hostesses were so friendly & helpful with directions & events.
The boys in the pub mix a mean vodka & tonic and the food was delicious.
Mini bar is fully stocked & the room was very clean with a comfortable bed.
If u want a modern uncharacteristic hotel, then Hotel Palisade is not for you but if you want a little step back in time with little quirks then do yourself a favour & stay at Hotel Palisade. I highly recommend ??'?

Great location and charming rooms, this should be a fantastic place to come into the city and celebrate with a group of friends. It's a shame the staff in the rooftop bar are so rude and think their own bar is 'lame'. Can't recommend - there are plenty of places to go in Sydney who would actually be happy to see you.

Great location. A real shame about the quality and speed of service in the ground floor bar. Drinks were only so-so and a g&t came without the tonic as the premix supply had run out. Evidently not checked prior to opening. Got that corrected and then the g&t was flat!
Service was v slow and unfriendly. I won't rush back. Ever.

Always make a point to stop by the Palisade when we're back in Australia. Chicken schnitte is second to none. The fries, the slaw, the schnittie itself os to die for. Not greasy, juicy chicken and cooked to perfection. Only a couple larger chunks of salt on it make it versatile for those wanting to remove them if required. The slaw is super memorable, just delicious. Pair that with a pint of Furphy and you're good to go. Well done to the kitchen for keeping things delicious and consistent across the years. Don't change a thing! If you're considering hitting the pub for a meal, do yourself a favor and just go, you won't regret it.

The Palisade is a boutique hotel and bar located in Sydney's Rocks district. It is housed in a historic building that was originally built in the 1800s as a sailor's boarding house. The hotel has been beautifully renovated and now features stylish rooms, a lively pub, and a rooftop cocktail bar with stunning views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the city skyline.

The Palisade Pub is a great place to go for a casual meal or a drink. The menu features classic pub fare, such as burgers, steaks, and fish and chips. There is also a wide selection of beers on tap, as well as cocktails and wines. The pub is a popular spot for both locals and tourists, and it is always lively and fun.

The Henry Deane Rooftop Bar is the perfect place to enjoy a drink and some stunning views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the city skyline. The bar is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and it offers a variety of dining options, including tapas, pizzas, and burgers. The bar also has a full bar, with a wide selection of cocktails, beers, and wines.

The Palisade is a great place to stay in Sydney. The hotel is located in a central location, and it is close to all of the city's top attractions. The rooms are stylish and comfortable, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. The pub and rooftop bar are great places to relax and enjoy the city.

We headed here after a busy day of work and the food hit the spot. We shared the popcorn cauliflower to start which was delicious. Followed by the falafel pita and a lamb salad. The views from the rooftop are a huge highlight for this venue. 5 stars and I'll definitely be back the next time I visit Sydney.

We had a wonderful reunion party at PUSH. Stunning views. Excellent service. Great food and wines. Loved the potato with abalone sauce. Natalie, Jacky, Camilla and Ben were all very professional. Highly recommend

The public bar has friendly staff and nice ambiance. This is the second time in a few weeks. i'm not sure what happened in between as the fish tacos were fantastic the first time. Nuanced flavour just perfect. This time it was drowned in some overpowering dark brown sauce. Really really bad. The Rueben sandwich was really oily and seemed like it was deep fried. Chips were good .

Room much smaller than expected. Not exactly the spacious place most of the photos portray. (Other rooms obviously larger). Should have been clearer exactly what we were getting. That said, nice enough for an old building and balcony really helps offset the claustifobia! Location very good, which was my main consideration when booking.

We stayed in the "Surgeon White" Queen Room, which was clean, had nice furnishings, and incredible views of Sydney Harbour from the balcony. With a bar downstairs and one on the rooftop, I was concerned about the possible noise, but there was surprisingly very little noise that reached the room.

However, the room was really cramp with very little space to maneuver, especially if you have luggage. There was also no air conditioning, this can be offset by opening the windows to let the breeze in, sometimes this isn't enough for hot Sydney days, and smoke can waft in from outside.

It's worth checking out the rooftop bar for more great views.

The check-in process is done through the bar. The waitress was very friendly and helpful.

Would visit again but would choose a different room.

We went to the roof top bar to celebrate a birthday, it has amazing views, and is very stylish.
However the food is a big let down. Very limited menu and tiny portions and massively inflated prices. I would go again for a cocktail but definitely not for the food.

Yes the view is great, service friendly but patchy a little pricey & shut the kitchen before our significant birthday desert arrived , very disappointing & the security staff aggressive & heavy handed! Will not recommend or return- feels like it's got a little shabby also acoustics are terrible

Loved our stay here. The pub food downstairs is fantastic, views of Sydney Harbour up from the cocktail lounge are just stunning! The pub staff are really friendly and helpful and manage the hotel bookings as well. Rooms were comfy and had character. Location to Pier 9 for cafes and wandering and exploring is great! We'll be back with a group of friends to book 4 of the 8 rooms.

Very nice hotel with friendly staff. The room was very nicely decorated, spacious with everything you need. There's a bar downstairs and a more formal rooftop bar with great views over the city where you can see the observatory, Darling Harbour and the Harbour Bridge.

We had an amazing stay here and the view from our room was phenomenal! The bed was super comfortable and the room was kitted out with everything that we needed, including a Nespresso machine and an amazing Bluetooth speaker. The location was also perfect for exploring! The only place we didn't get to see was the rooftop bar - an excuse to return!

Wow. What a great lunch we had here today. Staff were super friendly and service was very fast.
My lemon lime bitters was amazing! The schnitzel was very delicious with the BEAT MUSHROOM SAUCE I've ever had!
Salad serving was very generous too and was quite yum.
Chippys were excellent too.
Would definitely recommend !

I booked a lunch (for 7) for a friend's birthday last Sun. The Function admin helped me choose space (Dining Chamber) and set menu. The food was excellent (better than expected) and the views over the harbour were beautiful at sunset. A special mention to our waiter, G, who was professional, fun and attentive. I would book another function here.

Lovely old pub with heaps of character. Was closed for quite a while and is back again, though sadly without the old wood burner fireplace.

Some craft beer. Head upstairs for the food.

Update, some outside seating now, and happy hour $6 (Newtowner)

Amazing experience, at the Henry Dean bar upstairs. The whole pub is quaint and well thought out. A fun place, with some great gin cocktails, and wines. Their menu is super cute, the Mushroom is to die for and the Prawn tails the perfect accompaniment. Thanks for the experience and hole in my pocket. A must try folks.

Views are amazing and music was good. We ordered mains and sides, sides took over an hour and mains came out 10 min before the end of our 2 hour window. Mains were essentially just meat, would have been much better to have together with the sides. Pricey and small so don't arrive with an appetite. I think with better service and more balanced meals this place would be great.

This place surpassed expectations on every level. Just arriving to the spectacular views and the warm welcome, set us off to the best of starts.
But then, as the drinks and food began to flow, we settled in to one of the most relaxed and enjoyable days out, I can remember in a long time.
We were celebrating a special occasion and the wonderful staff went out of their way to ensure that everything was perfect for us. I actually think that this is their default operating style.
I had opted for a pre-ordered menu for my guests. The food was abundant, varied and utterly delicious. The staff were careful to make sure that one of our guests, who is vegetarian, was specifically catered for when the rest of us had meat. The food options were perfectly spaced, so there was no sense of rush at all.
After lunch, we were moved just one floor down, into a comfortable lounge area, which also had a fantastic view, where we were able to continue with our party.
The food and drinks are fairly priced.
I would recommend Palisade to any group of any age. We look forward to returning.
Thank you very much Nat and all of your team!
