Paragon Hotel, Mudgee NSW

After booking significantly in advance for a family event, we received a call around 30 minutes before saying they had us outside and we may get wet.
It was fully booked with limited space to make other arrangements beyond a few stools near the bar for group of 25+ with small children. We left as it was unsatisfactory.
Put us in a real pickle. Staff on the day not at fault, management needs to revisit their booking process. Rain happens yes, but it isn't new.

Lunch is ok, usual pub food but has taste, beers are cold, service is good. Beer garden is at the rear, best place to unwind, or sit on the front verandah and watch the locals go by.

Went to the Paragon Saturday night when the junior touch regionals were on, so naturally it was going to busy....we had a table reserved for 530, which we were on time for and were lined up to order our meals, when the manager in a striped tee shirt ( we actually asked who he was) came over to my husband and told him " you have to leave the table by 7.30 as there was another booking at that time...when we ordered we were told it's at least an hours wait, which we expected as it was so busy, the kitchen staff were under the pump and did a fabulous job, meals came out looking fabulous, my point is .... The manager was so rude the way he told us to be out by 730 was honestly disgusting, thank god the bistro staff were fantastic and it wasn't lead by example, the manager needs to go and learn people skills asap.... He also told the table next to us the same thing, they all ordered , one of the ladies went to order some garlic bread and he refused her order???? What's the go there, and mind you at this stage there were plenty of empty tables around us.....
Everything was great at the Paragon except for this dipstick!!!

I really didn't expect this quality and innovation of meals at a regional pub. I would have been impressed at a top Sydney restaurant.
We were all very happy with our choices but I think I topped the pick -duck breast on pumpkin risotto, with asparagus and a pumpkin and charred cauliflower salad. Truly delicious.

After a 4hr drive we sat down to an awesome meal. Roast pork and vegetables and hubby had rump steak. The meals were huge, food was beautiful and the dining area was immaculately clean. Highly recommend this to anyone who is hungry and wants a great meal. The staff were also very hospitable and the locals very welcoming. Kitchen was spotless.
