we stayed at Peppers Cradle Mountain on the 1st January. we loved our stay. The rooms were lovely and it was the most comfortable king bed I slept in throughout our trip to Tasmania. Yes it is expensive but the surroundings are breathtaking. We dined at the Highlander restaurant and the food was amazing especially the apple tart. Service was excellent with minimal wait. Breakfast was very good also. It is such a lovely place to go to so one can unwind and enjoy God's creation.

The lodge location is stunning, and it is the closest accommodation to Cradle Mountain.

The main lodge building has WiFi access and nice couches to sit in the foyer. There's a big log fireplace which is nice. No WiFi in rooms, although phone reception is good.
We noticed there weren't many children.

In hindsight, we should have booked more than one night so you could try and do the bigger walks on a day with nicer weather, otherwise you're leaving it to chance.
We brought our own wine and snacks which helps keep the cost down, because hotel prices. ????

Don't let there be any doubt - the high price that you'll pay to stay at Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge is solely due to the location. At over $500 a night for the base accommodation, there is no other explanation.
The Pencil Pine cabin we stayed in was dated and there is no Wifi, television or room service. We had a lengthy wait to check in as there was only 1 staff member on reception when we arrived and as someone had arrived just before us, there were people waiting to ask questions, book into the restaurant or like us, wanting to check in.
Breakfast was average - all buffet style, no cook to order. Scrambles eggs were like mush, bacon was like cardboard and the flow didn't work. I didn't realise there was porridge until I'd already eaten cold cereal and the toast was nowhere near the other hot food. The barista-made coffee was marginally better than instant.
The one positive was the tavern - the staff were friendly, the service was great and the food was delicious.
If Peppers spent some money on some decent renovations and could replicate the staff and service from the tavern across the rest of the lodge, perhaps people wouldn't begrudge spending upwards of $500 a night on a room.

Definitely 5 stars ?? ?
This place is amazing, all the staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming.
We stayed in room 21, gas fire ??"? was on when we entered, had a balcony overlooking the lodge and a pond, so many animals from pademelons, wombats and Echidnas to mention a few.
The bar atmosphere was warm, fires lit ??"? yummy lunches, amazing views.
The restaurant was superb, drinks menu was great, food was outstanding (we had the 3 courses and loved it - very good chefs) and the staff just couldn't do enough ?
Breakfast was fantastic ?
The enchanted walk - well, it was as it says and is worth doing.
Excellent all around and Thank-you to everyone involved at Peppers Cradle Mountain ???"? ?

First day here... impressive, relaxing and there will be more comments and photos to follow.
We had a great time staying here. Plenty of walks. All the staff were fantastic. Food was delicious. We will definitely be returning.

The common area was great with many fireplaces. It is next to the entrance of the national park and where a few walking tracks start. Great location. Our room was basic but it was warm and comfy. The view was outstanding.

Fantastic venue. We booked for 2 nights & didn't want to leave, so we booked for a third.
One thing we would do if going again is do a little supermarket shop before heading up the mountain as there is nothing else available other than the tavern & restaurant at the lodge - which are great but expensive.
The rooms are clean and cosy. Beds are comfy. General environment is 'enchanting'. We loved it.

Got married here;
- Staff were amazing
- Accommodation was amazing
- Food was amazing
- The atmosphere was something you could not describe.

Throughout our experience at Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge, it was a relaxed dreamlike state. I never wanted it to end, and I am forever wanting to return. We will eventually come back and I have no doubt that it will be just as I remembered.

Highly disappointed with the experience.
Being loyal to direct reservation without using third party agencies we were charged much more and staff still argued the fact that they cannot help to match pricing because they use call centres to make reservations which charge the hotel 20% of the feel the customer pays.
With all this reception staff showed clearly to be annoyed at us for even asking for price match.
Key issue here is that the rates for the most standard room ($479) did not match the quality of the rooms that are actually provided. This is a rate you'd expect from a 5* hotel with excellent service and hospitality to customer that drive almost 5h to be accommodated. Room facilities are horrible and not worth your standard $200 rate little alone almost $500.
Restaurant staff were all very young and inexperienced and the food seemed as "fine dining" was definitely only considered as such for its presentation, however the food it self was unacceptable. Who wants to be served a cold tough steak after such a long drive in the cold and rain at a premium hated chef restaurant price!?
The Lodge is in a beautiful and convenient location to National Park, but overall not worth the money. I definitely regret having stayed at this hotel and didn't enjoy my stay at all.
Very disappointing.

The pencil pine cabins in the wilderness are a must. The food and atmosphere in the restaurant was exceptional. There is so much to see and do here. Nice walks. Resident wombats and wallabies are nice to come across. Short trip to the visitor information centre to get the shuttle bus to Dove Lake. Just love everything about Cradle Mountain ??

Came here for the food for both lunch and dinner which has a bistro style menu. Got the grilled salmon and carbonara for lunch, a pizza and buffalo wings for dinner and everything tasted decent. With not too many options in cradle this was a good stop to rest and relax after exploring and hiking. Also has a fireplace for staying warm. Would recommend.

Despite being one of Tassie's premier hotels we were disappointed with the experience.
Key issue was a failure to service our room during our 2 night stay, meaning no clean towels or top up of water coffee, etc. We were repeatedly told it was because the Do Not Disturb sign was on the door. Which it was, but only for 1 hour all day. We spent the day in the National Park, so the room was empty virtually all day.
While energetic and mostly friendly, the staff were all very young and inexperienced. On check-in both receptionists were wearing Trainee badges, with no management sighted during our 3 day stay. Initially they couldn't find my booking, even when given my phone with my booking confirmation email. Then being given keys to the wrong room on checking in didn't get things off to a good start.
On checking out, to make up for not having our room cleaned or serviced during our entire stay, the night manager said all he was allowed offer was a complimentary drink. As it was 8.30am, we declined the offer.
The Lodge is in a beautiful and convenient location to National Park, but overall not worth the money. Limited services, tired decor, inexperienced staff plus room not being cleaned can't be forgiven as a general oversight. Peppers should read all the 1 and 2 star reviews here rather than be relaxed by the 4's and 5's.

Approaching the chalet, my heart sank, then I opened the door!!! Spacious and warm, clean and comfortable...the gas fire was flickering and the decor was classic and very attractive.
A fantastic full breakfast was included in the price too

We loved this place.

We went here for our honeymoon. It was absolutely stunning. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The king billy suite rooms were so well kept. Room servicing was excellent, they even lit our fireplace daily. Can't wait to go again.

A real nice mountain side resort. Booked a cabin with the wife for an overnight stay to do some trail hiking and have zero regrets with the location. Loved every minute of being there- food was good, as was service and overall cleanliness / comfort of the cabin. Highly recommend if you are visiting cradle mountain.

We spent two nights with our friends at this beautiful hotel with its own charm and character. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our rooms were comfy and had a woodfire and a heater to keep us warm. The food at the Highland restaurant was excellent. It rained most of the time but we were still able to do some walks. Will definitely visit again.

Amazing service from staff, nothing was ever a problem and it was a very clean environment. The food from the Highland restaurant was top notch as well. Ensure you book in advance. We went twice and for the 3 course meal I got the pork starter, cape grim beef and the chocolate stout cake and it was sooo good.
Based on the staff alone, I will be coming back.

We also booked into the sanctuary spar for 90minutes and that was amazing after a long day doing the cradle mountain walk in the wet cold weather.

We got the room with a fireplace and shower instead of the spa as the price was just ridiculous for a tiny "spa" without much of a view. The room was nice, neat and tidy although it was a lot smaller than it looked in the pictures. For $500 per night I expect a lot more.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The rooms are nice and warm but dated and definitely could use a revamp but the location is fantastic. We enjoyed having afternoon drinks by the fireplace and had a delicious dinner in Highlands Restaurant. Breakfast was a buffet style and whilst not as elaborate as some Breakfast Buffets it was certainly adequate. We saw Wombats when we arrived and also in the garden on our way into Reception which was great.

Overall good experience within the lodge and staff attentiveness was immaculate. However some aspects were lacking when we visited Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge. On our day of arrival they were not doing hot beverages and during a cold autumn that dampened our spirits a tad. Was expecting more of the rooms, but overall cleanliness and coziness was great with the indoor heater/fire. Having more activities during the evening for guests would be great, but I understand being the low part of the season, as well as post covid it has been hard to return to norm. Would still definitely return during a peak season to have a new experience.

Beautiful scenery and environment. Really nice atmosphere at the lodge and some nice walks nearby. Saw a wombat and some pandemelons too! And a nice gift shop as well. The tavern is better than the fancy dining restaurant for guests. The squid and beef burger were delicious at the tavern. We had the 3 course at the fancy dining restaurant which was again a really nice atmosphere but it was probably below average for the price (85pp at time of writing). Our lamb was overcooked, the eggplant was just weirdly spiced and the chocolate cake for dessert had no taste. On the other hand the oysters and Wallaby were delicious, as was the panacotta. And the breakfast was just amazing! Done very nicely with good selection of fruit, hot food, sweets etc. Overall a very pleasant experience!

Location 5 stars ??

Accommodation but was pretty basic definitely not $700pn good our cabin floorboards felt very weak and squeaked with every step. Furniture was basic and no TV or anything for the wet weather.

But the national park was amazing I'd highly recommend coming for a visit

For the price you pay a night the cabins were a bit sad and in need of renovation. Maybe some new fittings too. (Bar fridge noises could be confused with the wildlife) Also best not advertise a king bed if it's two single beds from the 90s pushed together. Besides that, the staff were very professional, the food was great and the location was stunning.
