Despite being one of Tassie's premier hotels we were disappointed with the experience.
Key issue was a failure to service our room during our 2 night stay, meaning no clean towels or top up of water coffee, etc. We were repeatedly told it was because the Do Not Disturb sign was on the door. Which it was, but only for 1 hour all day. We spent the day in the National Park, so the room was empty virtually all day.
While energetic and mostly friendly, the staff were all very young and inexperienced. On check-in both receptionists were wearing Trainee badges, with no management sighted during our 3 day stay. Initially they couldn't find my booking, even when given my phone with my booking confirmation email. Then being given keys to the wrong room on checking in didn't get things off to a good start.
On checking out, to make up for not having our room cleaned or serviced during our entire stay, the night manager said all he was allowed offer was a complimentary drink. As it was 8.30am, we declined the offer.
The Lodge is in a beautiful and convenient location to National Park, but overall not worth the money. Limited services, tired decor, inexperienced staff plus room not being cleaned can't be forgiven as a general oversight. Peppers should read all the 1 and 2 star reviews here rather than be relaxed by the 4's and 5's.
