Great food friendly staff plenty of food choices with a kids menu as well would really suit a family lunch or dinner. Has good coffee as well. The scenery is lovely as well with plenty of options to travel onwards from there. The pub is an old Victorian style pud so has a lovely atmosphere as well.

I had the pleasure of visiting the Poowong Pub on a picturesque spring day, nestled in the idyllic hills of Gippsland amidst lush dairy farming landscapes. My experience was nothing short of delightful.

Upon arriving, I decided to savor a classic Australian favorite, the chicken Parma with chips and salad, as a takeaway option. As I waited, I opted to sit outside and bask in the glorious sunshine. The atmosphere was serene, offering a respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

To complement my meal, I indulged in a pint of creamy Guinness, expertly poured and brimming with rich, velvety goodness. The combination of the hearty Parma and the smooth Guinness was a match made in culinary heaven.

The Poowong Pub exudes a rustic charm that perfectly complements its rural surroundings. The friendly staff ensured that my visit was not just about a meal but an experience to remember. The attention to detail in both service and cuisine was truly commendable.

In sum, my visit to the Poowong Pub was an enchanting escapade into the heart of Gippsland's dairy farming region. It was a day when gastronomy, ambiance, and nature harmoniously converged, leaving me with cherished memories. If you're seeking a quaint pub experience amidst stunning countryside, the Poowong Pub should be at the top of your list.

Great little find. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were all lovely and warn and inviting. Great menus to choise from. We had the chiefs suggestion, roast pork, crackle and lots of veggies, the pork was so tender and sweet, the amount of gravy was perfect. They have a great range of drinks as well as having Guiness on tap. We will definitely go back there again and can highly recommend it to others. I would suggest that anyone who is thinking of going there to book. It's a very popular place to go.
This pub is a great spot to stop at whilst you're out for a leisurely drive. Their Parmas are delicious and their cheese and garlic bread is amazing. The owners are fantastic and really make this place feel like a home. I've been several times and always stop in when I can.

Coonara wood heaters for the chilly afternoons/evenings, and couches to sit in, next to the fire, with a soothing beverage.

If you are after a typical county pub you can't go past this place. Regular pub fair (limited vegetarian options) uber friendly service and welcoming vibe. If you are passing through stop into the public bar for a yarn with one of the locals.

A true Pub meal & atmosphere.
Went to the Poowong pub for a birthday party menu is three years out of date which we discovered on arrival, they are around about 25% higher than their website, the Parmas were around standard size for a pub, kids enjoyed but were expensive at $32, the wife and I had roast pork which was tiny around 150 g of roast pork 10 g of crackling and a handful vegetables, quite insufficient for the $25 cost.Staff were lovely, service was okay, there are much better places for far cheaper elsewhere.
In contrast we went to another small town restaurant two days later our meal was excellent everyone was stuffed because the meals were massive and ended up being around about $80 cheaper than the Poowong hotel for a family of 7.

We always grab a great meal and a perfectly poured pint of Guinness (or two), whenever we can.
Bethany Cust
Great range of meals for everyone!! Loved the service and friendliness of staff.
The kids meal was very plain, including pasta not being fully drained, but the flavourful desserts made up for that and they are what will bring us back again!
