Lovely old hotel. Great staff, very friendly. An absolute first - a pub that can't cook a chicken parmi and buffalo chicken wings! Dry, overcooked parmi served with a limp salad with a sickly sweet dressing. The sauce on my wings was delicious but they were dry and the outside coating was unpleasant. The beer was cold.

Great family operated pub. Stayed two nights in room being renovated and was fine. The main highlights are the friendly staff, outdoor area for kids to play and meals are reasonable for vegetarians.

The owner of this property helped us out when our accommodation fell through. We were travelling as a large family group and he was incredibly hospitable and accommodating - finding us all rooms at very short notice. The hotel is in the process of being done up. The rooms were basic but clean and tidy with air conditioning. The kids in our group had a ball both nights playing on the play equipment out the back and playing handball with the other kids visiting the hotel. The staff could not have been more accommodating - storing birthday cakes etc in the cool room for us and happily refunding our third night when we needed to change our plans. It was a bit noisy at nights however that was likely because it was the Easter long weekend and the Back of Bourke festival was on. Thank you again for your outback hospitality! Lots of lovely memories were made!
I'm leaving 1 star for the accommodation in order to be informative for people wanting to stay for any length of time. Unlike as advertised by Google, there is no WiFi. The room I booked for one night had no amenities besides a fridge which hummed all night and multiple holes in the wall which were filled with insulation. The bedsheets were stained.

Most of the reviews are about the general look and feel of the pub and the food, both of which I think are good, great even. But I would steer clear of staying there overnight.
Like an earlier review saying "Port of Bourke is the jewel of Bourke" I couldn't agree more. Would go as far as saying it's the jewel of the NSW north west, what a pub. Gorgeous interior and character, fantastic selection of beers and the publican is a great bloke, would love to see more country pubs retain their history like the Port of Bourke
Great place to take a break and have a feed. Nice pub food good friendly service. Enjoyed our food and drinks on the verandah overlooking the Lovley historic buildings and the gardens.

The Port of Bourke Hotel is a jewel in Bourke. I attended a board meeting in their Toorale Room. Excellent facility, quaint and decorated with historical pictures. Liam the owner was very accommodating and flexible in how we used the room. The food was amazing and the staff were very friendly. I recommend it to any person who needs an office space or a business function in Bourke. THANK YOU LIAM for making our work life so easy whilst in Bourke!

One of the place in town. I was here for my friend's farewell party. The pizza was good, but affordable in price. The place is quite spacious and good for hangouts as they have many pool tables.

It's a pet friendly place, the owners even have 2 small dogs that freely playing around in the bar.

The place is usually crowded on Saturday night.

Great pub. Super cold beer and great food.
Nice beer garden to have a relaxing beer in as well.

I can't for the life of me understand how there can be that many cattle out in Bourke and you still get a garbage steak. Toughest T-Bone I've had in my life and completely under-seasoned. No flavour. For $45 I'd have expected a lot more. Would've been better off microwaving a steak from IGA. Beer was good.

The rooms are a dump, A/C worked on and off all night, but will say the guy that booked me in was great a delightful bloke, but this place is run down
Great value and delicious food - thus aas a mixed lamb and pork roast for just $20!

Really enjoyed our Saturday evening here. which was way quieter than we expected, with very few locals. Blizzardly cold beers & decent red wine list. We both had steaks which were cooked superbly. Well done to the staff team.

Attitude towards customers counts for a lot. Licensee was arrogant, indifferent and plain rude. Took our reasonable $ business elsewhere while we were in Bourke. 1 star as beer was cold

Limited food for vegetarians. It would be great to have something like a bean salad, or grilled vegetables and tofu available.
Friendly staff though!

Just popped in for lunch. Meals were great. My steak sandwich was more like a delicious burger with bacon cheese and salad. Bar tender was friendly.

Cold beer. Good chips. Smelly room.
Room 15 wasn't worth a hundy for the night. We were right above the kitchen which made the room smell like meat and the depths of a deep fryer, was also next door to the laundry facilities which was populated by loud/nosey patrons or staff. There was also pipe reminents of an old sink in the corner which still had some sort of liquid sitting there waiting another hundred years to evaporate. Shared shower facilities took a waste of water to warm up but it's an old building, so all in all, ya get what ya get.
Friendly enough owner and staff just doing their best.
Location was good for walking round town without breaking too much of a sweat.

Was recomended to come here for dinner and was surprised.
On a Monday night and the staff being utterly swamped we expected less.
The meals were all done to a high quality, dinner arrived earlier than we were told and all steaming hot.
Staff was friendly, so were the other patrons (a mix of travellers and locals), everything was clean and neat and had atmosphere in spades.
It has been made a permanent stopping point for our travels through this area.
Worth visiting undoubtedly.

We ended up getting rooms in the hotel after the motel we'd booked managed to lose our booking and we had NOWHERE to stay - accomodation in Bourke impossible to find at short notice. A lovely constable at the Police Station (where we'd gone in desperation) managed to ring around and eventually secure accommodation in the hotel. The hotel itself is very old, rooms VERY basic with cracks and holes in the walls, etc but the beds were clean and comfortable. For a pub - no noise overnight but then again , it WAS a Tuesday night. On the upside, we had a great meal in the pub restaurant. And we were very grateful we didn't end up sleeping in the car!

What a top spot Luke and his staff went out of their way to make the stay great. Tony in the kitchen knocks out a cracking steak and Christine behind the bar pulls a top beer
Anita Doncaster
Food was appalling. Overcooked lamb chops and raw vegetables. Sent the meal back but the subsequent offering was no better. Inedible. Sea food basked straight out of the freezer and deep fried glug. Chips and salad very low standard.

Stayed here a couple of nights ago . Thankfully it was only the one night . Dinner was very disappointing I got the seafood basket which I didn't end up eating, my wife got the 200gm steak which she order medium rare and it was sent back due to the fact It was extremely rare.. now the rooms !! the beds were so soft and old that I could not sleep between rolling to one side constantly or getting springs in the back .. this was not enjoyable ... to say the least I am very happy to say I will never be going back to Bourke and definitely not port Bourke...

Dinner was OK, but I've had better in outback Qld

Great meal, not an extensive menu but good food. We had good live entertainment while dining. Enjoyable evening.

Dropped in here for lunch yesterday and spent a pleasant hour or so sitting on the front verandah enjoying pizza and a burger. The lady behind the bar (sorry I didn't get her name) was very pleasant and a credit to your operation. Food was good and beer and wine was cold...what more could you want? Drop in if you can, you won't be sorry.
