Prince Alfred Rooftop & Bar

Hello everyone,
I visited this place yesterday with my cousin. It was very crowded, so we grabbed a seat on high chairs, although we told them we preferred somewhere else. After one hour, the waitress came and told us that we should leave in one hour since the table is reserved at 8 pm without even trying to prepare another seat for us. This is a very bad experience; the staff is too rude to customers. The fish of the day was just okay. The place was so busy to the point where we had to serve ourselves!! Not recommended at all.

Located just metres from The University of Melbourne, Prince Alfred Rooftop and Bar is a lively, bustling community pub. Serving lunch and dinner, it is a hub of Carlton and campus life.

They have a range of cocktails, tap and bottled beers, and wines - red, white, rose, sparkling wines by the glass, as well as natural wine. Food-wise, they serve classic pub food like burgers and parma as well as a good range of vegetarian options.

Great place for students, happy hour deals are good.

The standout here is the service, really friendly and attentive.

The food, though priced like it's going to be on par with similarly priced pub food, is aaaaabsolutely rubbish.

Schnitty was rubbery, with lukewarm chips and an average slaw. No salt or other seasoning to be found in any elements and not even a lemon wedge on the plate. Burgers, both very average with similar shortfalls.

We'll be back for bevs for sure, but we'll be eating elsewhere.

This place is disappointing. We ordered the pasta of the day, and it literally only had pasta, sauce, and a bit of rocket. The pasta was very average and not worth the price. We expected something much better. Wouldn't recommend it.

The calamari & the fish n chips were awesome. Perfectly cooked, great pub food. Staff are friendly & have a cool vibe. Love the uni pub atmosphere with academics & students

Our end of year event was hosted in the roof top bar for a private function, our team had an excellent experience!

All the staff were generaous hosts and worked so well with us being so last minute with everything. The staff hosted our event so well! The food was amazing as we had an all vegan/vegetarian menu!

Lovely place to hangout for drinks and bar food. The staff are great, very helpful and professional. It gets rather busy in the evenings. We were a big group and had made a reservation prior. The online booking system is very good. Our drinks were served perfectly and the food was delicious too! Looking forward to visiting again sometime soon hopefully!

Nice cozy environment, staffs are friendly and helpful. Amazing food you will get here to dine in, also can chitchat with friends at the rooftop. Recommended ðŸ'
