My favourite wine bar! From ambience, food to wine selection i can't fault it. It is my new go to place to buy my bottle of wine. Owner is very lovely and helpful in assisting you to choose the right wine that suits your palate. Love the organic and natural selection of wines. Thank you

The food was absolutely delicious and the wine of course. Our fav was the gnocci and chicken wings!! The service was also great and very knowledgeable with the wines. Highly recommend!

Fantastic little gem of a restaurant....very cool, cozy and very Melbourne! Food was delicious...lots of interesting wines and loved the records playing in the background (but not too loud). Definitely recommend!

his establishment excels as a wine bar. Our order included four chicken wings, king prawns, eggplant, and mussels, each dish impeccably prepared and delicious. We also enjoyed a bottle of Blanc, which complemented our meal beautifully. The overall experience was exceptional

We had a 2 hour sitting on Friday night. The wine bar was full of happy people.
There was a great vibe throughout the Bar. We were seated and attended to straight away. Food and wines were amazing we shared 4 different menu items and were really full but couldn't resist sharing a crème caramel. All so tasty fresh and yummy. Drinks were fabulous my partner had a local pale ale and I had 2 glasses of a delicious French wine, our waiter shared his knowledge and the history of how it was being poured for me in Public Wine Bar.
Will definitely come back next time we visit Melbourne. Well done all staff at Public.

A group of friends and I came to Public Wine Shop for Valentine's Day. I chose it because it was one of the very few restaurants that weren't forcing you to do a set menu. I had also been wanting to visit it for so long! We ordered quite a few things to share. I really loved the Loafer bread with oeuf mayonnaise and trout roe, it was very unique! The only thing I was disappointed with was the service. The food took so long to come and the lady serving us seemed to have a bit of an attitude. I understand that being Valentine's Day, they would be pretty busy but it was just a shame because the food was really good.

Public wine shop is a great little Fitzroy North gem that truly encapsulates what I think Melbourne's true dining scene is about.

I like that you cannot book, you have to come and try your luck at getting a seat (which you likely will after waiting 20-30 minutes). We popped to a bar about 50 or so meters away while we waiting which was perfect.

The vibe is very intimate, with the main dining area being one large dining table that restaurant goers all sit at. There is plenty of room between you and the next person so not to worry for those that like to spread out a bit.

The staff were lovely and welcoming which is always great.

We didn't have a huge dinner, more nibbles and wine. What we did have was very delicious in both the food and wine department.

I will definitely be returning as I love that area of Melbourne and I want to try more of what the menu has to offer!
