Country pub run by friendly people, Caroline and Phil were very accommodating of us arriving just before close on a Sunday to get a supurb Roast Beef and a cold beer after a long drive and to camp the night out the back of the pub before heading to Cradle Mountain. Highly recommended ??'? ??'?

We had dinner and stayed in the camp ground.

Good basic pub meal, battered flathead cooked really well, not greasy and good price,
Facilities clean
Walked in to inquire about camping we learned about on the web. Greeted with much suspicion with no sign of any friendliness, welcome or even a smile both by the lady behind the bar and the other customers present! Guess they are not accustomed to brown Australians especially those who wear T shirts with Indigenous art! Had intended to stay in town and have all our meals at the Pub but very happy to wipe the dust off our feet of this town and move on after this very disappointing experience.

Friendly country pub. Clean rooms and value for money meals. Have a walk around the town as there are some very interesting sights to see.

We booked 5 rooms. And where amazed to discover they have a breakfast room for guests at no extra cost.
Consisting of a variety of cereal, juice, milk, bread, spreads, tea, coffee, fruit etc.
4 of the rooms had a shared bathroom.
1 has an ensuite.
All rooms had towels, soap, etc.
Would recommend anyone to stay.
Staff where friendly and accommodating.

Railton Hotel is a cosy, friendly hotel in a quite country setting. We stayed the night in an upstairs room with ensuite. It was clean and homely and just like the solid old hotels of yesteryears. It was nice and quiet. There were meals provided on the night which were delicious (chicken snitty and veg) was our choice. Can recommend a stay.

She needs a pick up, and the new operators have started first with personable helpful service and a friendly bar with easy to approach meals.
Then, right place in town, but also for an overnight before catching the day service Spirit of Tas ferry.

Breakfast room was great, toilets very few, lot of work required by new owners, who put in effort, couldn't chew the steak sandwich, but should see improvement with time.

We stayed overnight before starting the Overland Track. Great country pub. The owners and locals were delightful. We ate at the bistro, and the service was great. The room was clean and comfortable. Very happy with my stay, especially for the low price.

Phil and Caroline are wonderful hosts! I stayed 4 nights and the room had its own bar fridge, kettle, milk, tea & coffee and a sink with hot and cold water. There is also a kitchen open every morning with access to a continental breakfast. The shared bathroom is just down the hall and separated into male and female for shower & toilet. As a solo traveler I felt very safe and looked after. The pub meals were something from the good old days! Big, tasty and served with a smile!! Thanks so much Phil and Caroline, I'll be back!!

Friends and I dropped in for a Sunday lunch. Clearly popular with the locals as the dining room was well filled by 1.00 pm. Excellent, unpretentious food served surprisingly quickly considering the small kitchen staff. Portions were very generous. Staff were very pleasant and competent.

Great place to camp for a night. Phil & Caroline were really welcoming, felt very safe as a solo traveller. Great value - had a camp spot, a hot meal, a hot shower and two ciders for under $30. The roast chicken was delicious too! Could not recommend more highly.

Beautiful looking old-style Hotel
Room was dirty with carpets obviously not vacumed for some time. Share facilities with others leaving their toothbrushes, soap and shampoos with no basin but lots of mould in the shower. Watch the loose toilet seat! Only given one towel between us to share. No food available and watch the back steps in the dark, bring a torch as no outside lights.
