I visited the Bar yesterday, and unfortunately, my experience was marred by the excessively loud music. The noise level was so high that I ended up with an earache, and I struggled to sleep because of the pain. My right ear feels blocked, and I'm now planning to see a GP. Additionally, I lost my voice trying to communicate with friends over the deafening sound. It seems clear that the council should address the volume issues at this establishment. On a positive note, the staff and the bands were great, which is why I'm hopeful that they can address this critical issue and make the bar more enjoyable for everyone. Cheers

I visited the Railway to enjoy a nice meal with mates to finish off our weekend in Byron.

I ordered the "scotch fillet" well.. I'm not sure what is classed as a scotch fillet at the Railway but what I was served resembled more like a very cheap and nasty cut of a rump steak, at best!

I didn't realise upon ordering, that I would need cast iron teeth to chew through what ever it was that I was served.

Upon sharing my concerns with the chef, there was absolutely zero care for the feedback provided! I then dropped my plate back at the bar and voiced my concerns once again.

The manager also had zero interest in listening to my concerns, rather preferring to debate on the portion of the steak that was eaten. I had 3 mouthfuls which in the Managers view was "the majority" of the steak being eaten. I not once asked for a refund as money was not the point.

The fact they are happy to charge $34 for this garbage cut of meat, with complete disregard to quality of service and absolutely no concern for an unhappy patron, screams loud to what you will expect if you choose to dine at this establishment.

On a balanced note, the garlic bread was enjoyable..

In finishing, If the steak was free, it might be suitable for a homeless dog

Great pub, good local & craft beers, decent prices, friendly staff & good live music...

don't get the fish and chips. You will get 3 deep fried gold fish. Yum not don't worth $27 with gravy. Good beer but

What can be said about The Rails that has not already been said?

I first came here in 1994 as a young backpacker. And over the years have made several return visits.

Refreshing to see that nothing, nothing, has changed over the years. The same great characters. The same food hatch. And still a great selection of live bands.

Recommended.
