Royal Hotel - Pub in Muswellbrook New South Wales

Great pub at Muswellbrook. Pizzas were nice for dinner. Just drank a few bottles of prosecco & some cocktails. There are not many other options in town for a drink. Apparently, the Indian restaurant is very good & worth a visit, just a thought

We stopped over in Muswellbrook, which was recommended by the motel that the Royal was the closest and best place to have a meal. The meal was great as I only had bangers and mash it's my favourite, but I'm disappointed I never got the onion in the gravry, which set this dish off. We also had lamb cutlets and mash steam vegetables. Our friends had the chicken and vegetables also Barramundi it looked awesome they said it was great. So over all the service from staff was great and friendly. The atmosphere was good.

I recently visited and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. While I always try to appreciate the positives in any dining experience, the service at the bar and the ordering process left much to be desired.
Firstly, the bar staff were simply appalling. I have never been treated so poorly in a hospitality setting. After specifically requesting a smaller glass of wine, I watched in disbelief as the bartender poured my original order into the beer sluice before handing me what could barely pass as half a glass, dripping wet from top to bottom. It was not only unprofessional but also a clear disregard for customer service.
Secondly, the ordering process is riddled with errors. Over my last two visits, I have had three separate mistakes made when placing orders. Most concerningly, I noticed that more expensive items were rung up instead of what was actually ordered. Given that there is no visible cash register screen to verify totals and no receipts provided, customers are left in the dark about what they are being charged. This lack of transparency is deeply concerning and makes it impossible to track or question incorrect charges.
For anyone considering a visit, good luck to you - I will be looking elsewhere for a dining experience that respects both its customers and basic hospitality standards.

Had a meal here, scotch fillet chips and salad. Steak wasn't as tender as hoped for but chips and salad were good size serving and very good. 4 out of 5 being the steak could of been better quality for the price but the meal itself was good.

It's a pub. With very good pub food. Hearty. Unpretentious. Well-cooked. Nicely presented. We had the Royal Mixed Grill and shared it. Even so, despite hubby's severe allergy to wasting good food, we couldn't eat it all. We had the Bruschetta for starters which was delicious and added a bowl of Sweet Potato chips. Wish we hadn't - not cos they weren't good (they were), but cos it was a shame we had to leave so much. A couple of amazing cocktails (Long Island Iced Tea and my favourite Mojito) rounded out a very enjoyable evening. The vibe is totally family, with singles, couples, miners and families all happily chowing down some thoroughly good nosh. Service was top-class, friendly and efficient. Worth a visit if you're after a decent reasonably priced meal.
