What fabulous pub food. More like fine dining food.
Hubby had the meat feast which was porterhouse steak cooked medium rare and pork ribs with smoked bacon, garlic mash potato with corn, zucchini, cauliflower, broccoli and carrots with battered onion rings and mushroom gravy.
He said was one of the best meals he has ever had.
I had herb crusted salmon with sweet potato mash and Mediterranean vegetables was ever so tasty, the salmon skin was so crispy.
I also had a lemon daiquiri and a mojito which was delicious, hubby had a beer which for beer was very over priced at a pub.

Best pub in Portland!!! I can't count how many times ive dined in here and surely miss the rack of ribs and the parmi. Meals are usually served late but all were worth that wait.

Travelled to Portland to catch up with friends over the first weekend of June 2023 and dined here for lunch. All meals (pork ribs, risotto, fish and calamari) were fantastic and all plates were cleared.

Absolutely fantastic pub, Owner Pickles could not do enough for us. Worth the 4 and a half hour drive from Ferntree Gully to create the memorable moment. Cheers and see you all again soon hopefully.

Went here for dinner. They served good quality pub meal, decent portion size, fast service and all our meals arrived at the same time! Nice friendly staff..

First night visiting Portland and came to the Royal for dinner. We were definitely not disappointed. We had the porterhouse steak and the pork ribs and both were spot on. The kids nuggets and cheesy galic bread were also good. Hubbys steak was huge and cooked to perfection. I didn't need to chew my ribs they were so melt in the mouth tender, even the salad was really nice. Chips were the bomb, hot and crispy. I have not had a better pub meal in some time.
Also thankyou to the staff who were patient and tolerant of our autistic son who was out of sorts today and difficult to manage.

We had a large group for dinner reservation. Whilst we were advised dinner delay of 45 mins if ended up being just over 1.5 hours for dinner to come out. That is where a star was lost. The meals came out hot, cooked, delicious and well presented. The staff were amazing and apologetic about the delay. I would revisit again as it was a great night and the place was busy with every seat and table filled. Wonderful job despite the delay ??'?

Had the most delicious Porterhouse steak here with diane sauce. Steak cooked to absolute perfection. Absolutely loved the delicious creamy potato side. The meal was perfectly complimented with that divine Henty Estate Cab Sav. Staff so friendly. Great service.

Meals were reasonably priced & great value. We ordered 3 adult meals & 1 kids meal. Kids meal was out in about 10 minutes but adult meals were closer to an hour. Child had eaten his plus his free icecream & was ready to leave. Staff were very polite & efficient.

I had never been served a poor meal here, tonight's dinner was absolute garbage. My main course was overcooked & two hours late. Not so much as an apology or complementary anything ??????????. The entire 2 tables were over 90 mins late. Poor quality and cold ??? Could be a while before we revisit ???"???"

The lady serving was very rude when my wife placed her order. Extremely blunt and it was like she didn't want to be there. The half serve of schnitzel was disappointing. It was smaller than the schnitzel I had previously at the competition pub for a half serve. The dressing on the salad was not appetising at all. The garlic bread was AMAZING!!! When you read on the special board, Roast Turkey, you expect Roast Turkey, not a Turkey Roll??? Misleading, but my wife enjoyed the veggies on her plate.

We went here on the basis it's wisest to eat where the locals eat. The Royal Hotel didn't disappoint. Good food at a good price. Friendly and helpful staff. And didn't have to wait overly long to receive our food. Recommended.

Royal Hotel Portland is the place to have a great meal! We enjoyed it so much that we are definitely coming back. Best to make an order early otherwise the wait is a very long time! It was worth it though as the meals came in big serves & generous amount of deliciousness!! Such an enjoyable dinner! Thank you ?? ??????-?? ?

Very welcoming staff even though we came in a little early. Dining room filled quickly and we were lucky to get a table. Meals were very tasty and big serves. Great pub, would highly recommend.

We arrived in portland was were walking around and saw this hotel.. went in and looked at menu... only had one table.. advised to order quickly before 6 to avoid a queue which was good advice. Very busy hotel.. fairly standard pub fare but a bit on the expensive side. Had the fresh deep sea ling fish and pork ribs which were both delicious. Large serves

We so enjoyed an wonderful "Family Reunion" lunch for 27 people on Easter Saturday. The food was fabulous, the service from the friendly staff was marvellous on a particularly busy day. Thankyou lovely folk at The Royal....we are sure to be returning customers.

Staff were extremely helpful and the kitchen was closing when we went, however, they served us lunch. The food was delicious. Thanks to all staff. Highly recommended.

My partner and I have allergies and we were easily accommodated here. Dairy and gluten free options. Delicious and fresh tasting, served quickly. We will be back.

Awesome meals ! Reasonable prices and sensational quality. A bit of a wait each time we have been, but more than happy to have a beer and wait for great quality meals.

Attended The Royal Hotel for dinner with two other adults. Meals were enjoyable with generous portion sizes. Service was slow, even to bring out the entree however, it was busy and I acknowledge this is still "covid times" and staff numbers could be affected.
Seating is spacious and comfortable. We would return again.
