The Royal Mail is a true country pub. Great hospitality and welcoming staff. The rooms are a work in progress with renovations under way (hence the 3 stars). It will be gorgeous once completed. Rooms are small but comfy. The bistro served good food and was popular with families on the weekend. Very kid & pet friendly. We were so happy they let our golden retriever join us. The room with the fireplace was so cosy on a cold evening. We can't wait to return!

What a wonderful historic hotel. Located right in the middle of Braidwood within easy walking distance to local restaurants and cafes, you couldn't get more centrally located. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable in both their hotel and the area.

We stayed in the king size suite with ensuite which was newly remodeled, with beautiful new tiles, carpet, bedding and was immaculately clean. Even being in a pub, granted it was midweek, the upstairs rooms and hallways were quiet.

We peaked into the newly remodeled shared bathrooms for the other rooms and I would not hesitate to book again and use the shared restroom accommodation. Some of those Queen size rooms have balconies.

We ate at the restaurant and enjoyed traditional pub fare - "the best steak sandwich" my husband has ever had and bangers and mash. With a nice cold bevy or two. It was a great night and would definitely stay again when we're through the area.

Rooms & bathroom are clean, tidy, modern; however my room smelt heavily of cigarette smoke. I had the window open & fan going since I checked in; sprayed deodorant, but it's embedded into the carpet I think. Shame, cause that was my only problem.

I have stayed here a number of times and the room & bathroom renovations have improved the overall experience. The service, food and atmosphere were already great.
Having dinner on the balcony on a sunny January evening, overlooking the park was splendid.

We ride down here for our annual motorcycle trip from Sydney and just returned from our third trip down.

This is such a special place and the perfect contrast to Sydney - the staff are helpful, friendly and extremely patient with our group. The food is excellent and portion sizes generous, I highly recommend the steak. The bathroom are extremely clean and modern now after a recent refurb. The rooms are comfortable and do all they need to do, the single bed I slept in was a little short for me though and I'm only 176cm.

Thank you for having us once again Braidwood Hotel, all we need is for the council to fix the road into town!

Really enjoyed our stay . Room was warm , bed was comfy. Bathroom Reno's are excellent but still a work in progress. Meals were quite expensive but geez they were good. The mixed grill beat me and that takes some doing . Staff were welcoming , efficient and pleasant. Would happily stay again

Meals were nice and rinks cold, however, waiting 1 hour for a mixed grill and a chicken parmigiana was not so great

We stayed two nights and the first night was fine, what you expect. Second was terrible. They had construction going from about 7:30am (hammers and power tools) and the workers loudly talking and making calls right outside our door from 6:30am. The construction was for the rooms DIRECTLY across and beside ours.
It was also right outside the female bathroom. The female bathroom that is simply one shower and toilet in a room so no other options but to have your comings and goings watched by the men.
I emailed the property about this before leaving a review to give them a chance and they haven't brother to reply.
They obviously don't care about guests.

Food is over priced, ONE staff member was great and helpful.
Rooms are small, had to make the bed ourselves after staff messed up the booking, still had to pay full price and not even a complimentary drink for making the room up. Doesn't look like the carpet has been cleaned properly since it was installed.

Was on a solo bike ride from Wollongong. I thought I'd give the Royal Mail a try. It was well worth it !!!

The rooms were basic but clean and pretty cheap. It was a shared toilet/shower which was clean. The food was good and the beer cold. The service was excellent. I'd recommend this place if you were passing through.

After not eating all day, ordered dinner for myself and my partner I ordered scotch fillet steak with mash and veg. Waited over 1hr 40minutes we ordered at about 5:45 -6pm as they were taking orders. Had to ask if they had forgotten our meals then about 15 minutes later we receive our meals my medium well done steak was so raw (blue steak) it made me sick to my stomach and turned me off food the night my partners porterhouse was over cooked and overall a bad experience enough to make me never want to go eat or drink at this establishment. Staff are rude bad attitude, just overall bad vibes and bad service. Ending up leaving the pub to order a burger from nersons next door 10 minutes and I'm full wow, what a waste of a pub!

This is a place that feels like it is still developing it identiy. Rooms are OK, food was great, beer selection OK, atmosphere pretty good and is a country pub offering the best it can.

We booked the family room with ensuite because I didn't want to share bathroom facilities. Arrive and they told us that they double booked so we had no choice but to stay in the family room with no bathroom. Had to use shared bathroom facilities. One women's shower compare to 2 men's showers. Not enough toilets. Very very loud at night. Good food. Reasonably priced however the location needs a major revamp as it is very dingy.

Beautiful old pub but it really needs some improvements!
Very expensive for what it is.
Our bedroom was very small and very basic. No mirror, no tissues or anything else. Basically just a bed, 2 lamps, a small fridge and a kettle.
Shared bathroom and toilets, all in the same room, no privacy or whatsoever... therefore not very clean. No towel or paper towels to dry hands off. Was even hard to get some soap out of the dispenser.
Also, you can hear anything that is going on the floor. We could even hear people using the toilets which wasn't really pleasant, also having their shower and gargling... pretty gross. Therefore couldn't sleep very well.

Very disappointing experience, our family of 5 stayed in a ensuited room. The small bar heater was insufficient to provide adequate warmth and we had no hot water for showers. It was dearer than more comfortable and better resourced places we stayed on our road trip. Poor value for money.

Counter lunches in Australian pubs are very underrated. They're a bit old fashioned, typically product from the area, reasonably priced and often just basic meals. In another setting these meals might be called street food. I had crumbed lamb cutlets with veg and mash and it was delightful. Creamy, yellow potato, perfectly cooked, delightful and tasty beans, peas, corn, cauliflower and broccolini - all to die for - and accompanied by beautiful lamb cutlets. Servings were not huge but very adequate. It us ordered at the bar and the young woman who served me went out of her way to be helpful. Well worth the visit.

Lovely little hotel in the heart of Braidwood. I only stayed there for one night as part of our trip so cannot comment in much detail but as far as my experience goes, the staff was lovely and helpful, the rooms were basic but clean. There is definitely room for improvement for the hotel and pub, but it serves the purpose the way it is now.

Old country pub with hearty meals and a warm fire to the ladies longue. Got into town late so my options were limited. Very pleasantly surprised by the curry - recommended by the beautiful girl from Alberta. Worth a visit & dinner. Next time the roast.
