This is an odd review. I don't ever write a review on a place I haven't yet been to, but I had to write this one purely on the 6 start customer experience I had when booking with the Royal Mail Hotel. I could write an essay on how seamless, stress-free and prompt the experience was in light of several hurdles : in particular the person I dealt with, Maeve, could not have done more for my requirements, and then exceeded them without having to or being asked. If the accommodation and dining experience is half as good as the booking experience, I think I will be very, very happy. Thank you Maeve for your world-class attention and customer service.

Every aspect of this experience is five star, the cottages, the outlook and location, the wildlife tour the wine tutorial the kitchen garden tour all the staff and the restaurants, especially the Wickens. Suzanne was an excellent sommelier ( wine tutorial - food and wine perfectly matched) and Robin Wicken ( kitchen garden tour) hands on in the kitchen for every amazing course - very very impressive. A real splurge for us but can't recall any better dining or stay experience, as my wife Lynne would say "amazeballs!".

Stayed in June 2024 for a mini getaway, the bed in room 5 was atrocious, a big dip in each side, well uncomfy and well past it's use by date. The sliding door has a massive leak where cold wind rushed in all night, which made the door bang all night, completeshit. Wickens restaurant, service is great, food presentation and technique is blow away but sadly the tasting just doesn't match, Ive had way better, Ive eaten at wickens twice and been the same both times, next time I'll stay anywhere else and eat in the Parkers bar where it's cheaper and same kitchen, same building.

If I could rate this place with a 10 I'd give it. Expensive yes yet the best meal experience I've ever had in Australia. I just hope they are still going giving it will take some time to save enough to go back soon. Absolutely wonderful.

We had dinner at Wickens - undeniably expensive ......but the business has created value for those who dare.
We don't brave the hefty food prices often but would again. Great job to all who have built this business

This review is for the restaurant only. I have visited previously and enjoyed a lovely breakfast on my way through. However, this visit was for dinner and it was not so good an experience. An entree sized main of lamb arrived lukewarm and over done. When the waiter asked if everything was ok I mentioned the lamb was overcooked and even gristly. Nothing transpired as a result. I think $48 is a price that warrants a fine dish, and it just wasn't. The view is spectacular and the space is beautiful but on this occasion the food did not meet the required standard.
