About The Royal Oak Hotel Motel

The Royal Oak Hotel Motel is in Yaamba, Queensland. They offer accommodation.
I have great memories of the old pub. I would of stopped or stayed there a dozen times over a couple of years while doing the NQ run in a truck. Always parking for the truck, good rooms, great food and wonderful staff. It might of been a few years back but the good times deserve a review now.

The Royal Oak Hotel Motel does not appear to have any published opening hours.

Stopped overnight and popped over to the pub for a meal.
Been there previously, several times before change of ownership and the food was amazing.
This time we were the only ones there.
Ordered at 5.55pm n I had to ask where our meals were at 6.30. Meals were brought out within 2 minutes so I'm picking they had been sitting for a while.
Overpriced, I've never had to pay $25 for roast of the day.... EVER!!
Meat was lovely and hot, veggies only just warm. Very disappointing for the price.
Won't be returning.

Stayed in the rest area overnight, had a great time at the pub with a lovely meal for dinner and a few draught beers. New owners very friendly and welcoming, being a family run business, it would be nice to see more of the campers supporting this little community. Lovely chatting to Dianne and Neil - all the best in the future.

I stayed at the camping area twice last week but I enjoyed the hospitality of Paul and his family for two lovely dinners. I ate the Corned Silverside on my first visit and the Roast Beef on my return visit. I appreciated the home cooked meals, the welcoming atmosphere and the renovations to the hotel. After travelling long distances it was fantastic to find the Royal Oak open again . Thanks Paul, your wife and Dad and the friendly clientele. I had a great rest stop.

Not awesome.

We stayed in the free camp, but ate at the hotel.

I believe it's under new management as we were told they have a fixed menu as they were "just starting up".

I can understand the need to cut costs as a start up, but their EXTREMELY LIMITED fixed menu (corned silverside and veg/sausages and veg) was very overpriced ($25 each for frozen peas and corn, a few slices of carrot, 2 sausages and a few spoons of watery mash). Food was served at room temperature, we waited 40 mins for our food despite it being a fixed menu and there being only half a dozen patrons, serving sizes were VERY modest and food was bland and tasteless.

They are capitalizing on the lack of other options for folks in the free camp as it's 30 mins to the next food stop.

Set expectations low and you might not be too disappointed. Otherwise, consider that it might be more cost effective to make the hour round trip to Rockhampton and get something more substantial.

Reviews for great food and good service seem to be for previous owners.

We stopped overnight at the truck stop next door and visited this quaint pub, only to find out it had only had its grand opening the day before. I wish the new owners the best and look forward to visiting again when they have the campground up and running out the back. Great service!
