Not awesome.
We stayed in the free camp, but ate at the hotel.
I believe it's under new management as we were told they have a fixed menu as they were "just starting up".
I can understand the need to cut costs as a start up, but their EXTREMELY LIMITED fixed menu (corned silverside and veg/sausages and veg) was very overpriced ($25 each for frozen peas and corn, a few slices of carrot, 2 sausages and a few spoons of watery mash). Food was served at room temperature, we waited 40 mins for our food despite it being a fixed menu and there being only half a dozen patrons, serving sizes were VERY modest and food was bland and tasteless.
They are capitalizing on the lack of other options for folks in the free camp as it's 30 mins to the next food stop.
Set expectations low and you might not be too disappointed. Otherwise, consider that it might be more cost effective to make the hour round trip to Rockhampton and get something more substantial.
Reviews for great food and good service seem to be for previous owners.
