We stayed for two nights as an extended family group, in two adjoining ground floor rooms (022 and 023). This was a brilliant set up and fitted 6 of us with ease. We had a lovely outlook onto the gardens/playground and then the water. Rooms were spacious and extremely quiet. Bathrooms do need an upgrade but that is my only criticism! We loved the location, right by a bunch of good waterfront eateries and with a convenience store just across the road. The hotel restaurant/bar is also really nice. We will definitely stay here again when we are back in Newcastle! Highly recommend.

Amazing experience and hospitality! We arrived late and were met with grace and care. Fantastic service. The room was perfect and as expected.

Staff were helpful with navigating Newcastle and assisting with directions to and from our destinations.

Food was great and the coffee fantastic!!

A beautiful place to stay. The room was functional and tidy.
We were fortunate to have breakfast included in our stay, which was a delightful buffet.
All of the staff were very pleasant and welcoming, accommodating all our needs.
Parking is tricky, with valet available for $35 or the parking lot nearby, within walking distance.
Super happy with my stay, thank you!

The customer service is woeful and very cold the wait staff can seem very distant and the food is below standard I'd rather eat my own shoe. The chefs seems a bit highly strung. There is a lot of bullying at this workplace and it's toxic to work in I heard from one of the waitress's. The managers bully other staff members out of work and so staff members take it out on each other. The bathrooms are usually mouldy.

Clean room, beautiful water views with boats going by. Comfortable bed. Valet parking for $35 a night. Plenty of cafes and restaurants within short walking distance. Room decor is slightly dated but our room felt clean, functional and had everything we needed for our stay. Rates were good. We would stay here again.

I enjoyed my short stay, The view was beautiful, the spa and shower I appreciated. I had a bad day and night. But the salmon was like a design of art straight from the heart on point with the crack of the skin. I was thinking about my family at the time as I was eating the vegetables and when I reached the centre of the dish I could feel love my heart hadn't experiences such a warm loving feeling. I felt emotion like being held for the first time. Thank you. I really wanted to cry. It was what I'd describe as a placement master piece. I was unable to have a second night. Everything comes down to budget and I really just wanted to enjoy a wonderful view have a spa in a clean environment for peace and clarity. I will return again. But next time they won't recognise me. Heart to heart chef!!

I enjoyed my short stay, The view was beautiful, the spa and shower I appreciated. I wasn't feeling too good or lacked appropriate presentation. I had a bad day and night. But the barra was like a design of art straight from the heart on point with the crack of the skin. Downstairs is magnificent, fresh, and beautiful, and then you walk in the suites, and it's outdated, tired looking, and needs a good scrub! We had a dirty towel left behind the bathroom door on arrival. The bathroom needs a de-mould , the shower curtain was gross but was better than the shower spout. So much calcium build up. You felt dirty showering. Rooms aren't soundproofed, so if you want a quiet relaxing wknd away, this isn't the place. Pool is a great feature, except there is no privacy and right where all the public walks on the promenade. Restaurant renovations are great, and the food is fabulous sizes (only had starters and we couldn't eat it all). Bar shuts too early on Saturday. Went to a comedy show and wanted a nightcap after, but the bar was shut at 10 pm.
The area has depleted a little, but if you like watching cargo ships, this is the place to stay.

All up needs TLC in suites and upgrade of TV situation. Even though it wasn't fantastic, this is the best Rydges we have stayed at

Great location helpful staff. At breakfast, the supply of condiments needs addressing. The bulk jars of jam, peanut, Nutella etc doesn't work with a knife. Either have a spoon or individual serves. The in-house parking was a little high , but very good, and I will use it again. The best thing about the shower was the labels on the shampoo conditioner and body wash. Large contrasted labels are white on black. I don't wear my glasses in the shower and could read what each was. Well done.

Great location, plenty of restaurants to choose from close by and breakfast at the hotel was great. We walked everywhere we needed to and caught the ferry across to Stockton which was only a short walk away.
Was entertaining watching the ships and tugs go by during the day, but can be pretty noisy at night if you are a light sleeper with the helicopter taking the pilots out regularly through the night just across the river.

Lovely kind concierge called Michael who helped us with a wheelchair the day of the air show , we under estimated the walking distance from the ferry so we stopped for breakfast at the hotel ( which was very good) my 84 year old father was unable to walk the distance so we asked for wheelchair assistance and Michael helped us. He was so polite and kind we can't thank him enough . He made a huge difference to our day which otherwise would have had to have been abandoned . The air show was fabulous , a real day to remember ! Thank you again Michael
We will def be coming back to the hotel again but we will be more prepared next year!

We had a large function over 3 days, and the staff at Rydges went above and beyond. Stuart and all the staff were amazing. The food was incredible and plentiful. The location was superb, central to everything, and it was easy to explore the area.

Loved staying here. The staff were super helpful and the rooms were spacious and clean. The location is near the water and its in the older precinct of Newcastle.

I love staying here. I've stayed many times for work and enjoy it so much I have returned for a weekend with my husband. It is situated right on the waterfront of Newcastle harbour, and I've spent many mornings, afternoons, and evenings walking along the harbour foreshore exploring.

The staff are genuinely helpful and friendly - they made the stay relaxing and easy. The water views are lovely and the hotel is a quiet place compared to the rest in the city (far enough from pubs and restaurants not to hear the noise but close enough to walk to them). The rooms are generous and clean. Buffet breakfast was nice: tasty omelette and mushrooms and croissants are a standout, plus a great variety of quality tea, although only teabag coffee with coffee machine available at the bar.

It's okay. Needs a more thorough cleaning of rooms. The staff in the restaurant were not as attentive as they should be. The view of harbour is only saving grace.

Poor service! Poor service!
Ordered champagne on arrival. Wasn't there, took half an hr to get it to us. Breakfast, nice food, no cutlery, no coffee cups, never anyone at the egg station to order eggs, clearly not enough staff. Let valet know we were ready. Waited 20 mins, thought we would check, they didn't have the car on the list.
Need to pick up their game.

Room is very tired, saving grace was the view and location. Breakfast buffet very ordinary and understand the staffing challenges but the staff were very blase and indifferent including the Breakfast chef. Wonder if management is investing the time in this area?

Took a group there to dine in the restaurant for lunch.

Simply said, I was embarrassed. Worst restaurant choiceI've made in a long time.

The service was poor, and the food was abysmal. Any wonder the restaurant was almost empty.

If you are thinking of dining there, don't.

We stayed here for stopover during a road trip . . . Location is terrific as it's close to the restaurants along Honeysuckle - after a long drive, you just want to walk . . .

The hotel is rather dated though, could do with a refresh, carpet in rooms was told, bathroom belongs in the early 1990s I reckon, I get being a regional town there probably isn't much business sense to spend money on an upgrade but whilst the hotel was fantastic as a one night stop over stay, I probably wouldn't stay there on a multi night trip.

Amazing staff, from reservations, front desk, food n drinks team, room service & the legendary housekeeping.
All were exceptional pleasant & so helpful as a tourist.

Shout out to the formal Melb pps.

Had the harbour pool view room, Juliet suit. Cute inside, deck felt a little weathered & dodgy.

But was awesome watching the harbour ships, ferry & helicopter at nights and down time, watched a gorgeous wedding and was cool doing the walks along the local areas.

They do have private functions that may impact you going down, but there are plenty of other places to have food n drinks, while functions underway.

Awesome swimming pool ?? & at 43 had a complete blast doing the water slide with other visiting families with little kids egging me on. ??'????'??

Thank you from 420. ??

Excellent place to stay in Newcastle. Stayed twice in one week and both times were good. The hotel have a very good gym next door and a nice pool on the waterfront which is relaxing if you're feeling a bit stressed. Lots of waterfront restaurant options and great food. Easy walk to the beach and shops. The rooms are extremely clean although a bit dated but they have lovely views over the harbour and very quiet. I would stay there again based on location/gym/pool and all the construction going on in the main hub of the CBD and around the beach area.

Held our Practice Christmas party at Rydges Newcastle on Friday night. Venue, food and service were excellent. Tables were beautifully presented with linen cloths and Christmas themed. Waitstaff were lovely and attentive, food was exceptional! Everyone had a great night, made possible by the team at Rydges Newcastle. Thank you.

Stayed with my family, has restored my trust in Rydges! The room was great price and massive! Loved house it had 2 separate rooms lots of extra pillows and blankets so didn't have to bother room service and the door hanger was a great idea to not have your room made up and get $10 off each time love it! And the view is amazing too! Had dinner in the room that was amazing as well.
Only down sides was room is very far away from exit so a very long walk, had issues getting through to room service and parking is limited and expensive if you are driving but if those things don't both you then you will love this place! Will stay again

Our twin room water view was really spacious with a sliding door that closes off the sitting area and kitchenette. Comfy beds, nice linen, not brand new place but a feeling of luxury and amazing location right in front of the waterfront promenade. It's quiet in the rooms, only one ship horn broke the silence during the day, and it's walking distance to Nobby's Beach AND to so much more nearby, and in Darby Street.

Great views, secure parking was good, staff excellent and the room very comfortable. The room we had featured a spa bath, I really wish they either put in a separate shower or remove the spa bath as getting into the shower over the bath is difficult and has big slip dangers. Everything other than the shower was good.

Nice hotel. Had a 2 night stay with girl friends. Nothing was missing from the room we had everything we needed and the late night room service was a God send 🙌 was handy having the bar down stairs for late night drinks out of the cold.
The valet service was the only down side when first time checking in, this process took far too long (Friday afternoon), we spent a long time waiting in line at the desk and wait in line in our car.

Good place to stay. Friendly staff. I only realised later that they got their own parking spaces as well.
Pool was clean but not temperature control.
Will I consider that next time? Yes!

Service by Adam was 5 stars especially considering our 8:30pm check-in. It was lovely of the restaurant to accommodate our order at 8:45pm and the service was warm and friendly. After a long hard working day, it was great to unwind in a very clean room, comfortable bed and the view was just magic. Thank you for a lovely and positive experience.

Stayed a night here in a spa suite. Surprisingly beautiful view at dusk and dawn. Room was pretty good; comfy bed and a couch to kick back a few minutes.

Spa was good, excluding the ball of hair that shot out of one of the jets when we turned it on. I think this was just a small oversight, given the rest of the hotel was very clean.

Regular Covid cleaning seems to be occurring.

Great place to stay! Good clean modern exec style rooms, in-house restaurant serves up a great steak for dinner or a big breakfast for breakfast overlooking the harbour, beautiful outlook. Handy central location
