We have recently stayed at this hotel as we always do when in Sydney. We love this hotel it's location, ambience, cleanliness (housekeeping staff do an amazing job). The dining area and staff provide a beautiful buffet breakfast. The reception staff are very helpful and efficient. The Lobby Bar is great and in particular Cassie who has fantastic people skills.

Possibly the best located and yet worst hotel I have ever stayed in. On arrival on a Monday absolutely nowhere available for a coffee or a beer. The bar, such as it is, located in the foyer, is not open on a Sunday or Monday, and only part time on other days. The restaurant too is only open Thursday to Sunday. How can you possibly be operating a premium hotel without these basics. There was a lot of confusion too as two days into our six day stay the hotel was being sold on, no longer the Rydges but just the Sydney Harbour Hotel. The staff lacked training in the new computer system. The 10% discount card given would be no longer valid and having paid a premium for a room with a view all we could see was the side of a cruise ship. I know that's not their fault, I now know there is a new one there EVERY day, but to sell this upgrade then it should be clear that you will only have the Opera House view in the evening when the ships have sailed. On check out I was told $357 as breakfast had been charged even though it was included in my room rate, paid in full on arrival. Again I can blame the reception team as they seemed to have little idea who was or was not entitled to breakfast. It was sorted and I was happy to pay the $22 actually due. So be warned. If you expect a great view it will be there in the evening. If you expect good food when you want it, it may not be there though the saving grace is there are many better choices outside the hotel which is perhaps part reason for their demise. Sorely lacking in investment, very dated room, worn carpets and shower over a bath. Good luck to the hard working staff caught up in this and hopefully the new owners will be able to turn this around for as I said in the beginning it's location is second to none.

Great roof top view! ( Cruise Ship left at 7pm) Kids loved the pool! However, I lay here awake (00:49) because I can hear music. It's a shame that the glass isn't sound proof. Which I understand is a stretch but the whole point is to sleep well. I also heard maybe a garbage truck dumping several loads of glass bottles. Again, not the hotels fault but you can hear what's going on outside. Rooms are tiny but manageable. Staff are polite but not confident in their knowledge. Breakfast was enjoyable just the table was sticky and the highchair was not clean. I feel like we won't stay here again!

This hotel is in a great location--but otherwise is pretty disgusting. The rooms are typical of a road-side motel: worn carpets with holes and stains; there wasn't a piece of furniture in our room that wasn't damage or broken (including using duct-tape to cover the broken-off edge of a desk), the bathroom had mold on floor, the bathroom door was filthy, and there was lipstick stains on our clean glasses.
The air con is a mess. When we complained, we were told that our room was "hotel 19 degrees centigrade." This meant that our thermostat showed 19, even though it was easily five degrees warmer--way too hot for comfortable sleeping. One staff member finally conceded that "hotel 19 degrees" was much different than temperature 19 degrees. And none of the windows open, so we couldn't get any fresh air, even though the evenings were cool.

The hotel breakfast was also disappointing--about as blah as a hotel buffet breakfast can be.

If the ownership put money into upgrading this place it would be good--it is a great location. But with cruise ships constantly anchored, blocking the view even from the top floor, don't expect anything more than a good location.

Most of the clientele were cruise shippers--checking in the night before they boarded their ship and departed. Sadly, we were stuck for three nights.

Some good, some mediocre. The location is great, and is the High Point of the hotel. Great view of Harbor Bridge and if a ship is not in the way, probably the opera house. It seemed there was always a ship. They would change daily. The hotel is incredibly convenient to the rocks area. There is a great selection of dining within a one to two minute walk. There is a small mall with overpriced gift shops, a couple of hundred yards out of the side door. It is only a few minute walk to circular quay, where you can get boats to tour the harbor.

The rooms were clean. The unit under the television had a pot for heating water and cups to make coffee. There is a small fridge. There is a convenience store not far away where you can get milk, water, and other supplies. We like to make coffee in the morning. They do have breakfast at the hotel but it is $35. There are many options at nearby restaurants for less.

The staff were pleasant, although some did not seem that knowledgeable.

We would stay there again, primarily for the location and convenience.
The biggest downside is the elevators. One of the pictures shows crowds waiting on multiple floors. Our friends had to walk down. This is definitely a sore point especially if you choose a higher floor for the view.

We were travelling on a 9 day cruise and was hoping to find accommodation nice & close to the terminal. Google maps really didn't do it any justice, as we found ourselves surprisingly closer than expected - which was a plus for us.
Staff we great. Accommodation was nice. Nice and close to the cruise terminal and some very nice restaurants. The view from the rooftop was AMAZING!!!
Next time we jump on a cruise from Sydney, we will definitely stay here again!!!

This hotel is in a top spot, close to the Bridge, the Opera House, Circular Quay, Barangaroo etc. The view from our room on the 6th floor, looking over to the Opera House, was breathtaking. Staff were lovely too, which only enhanced our stay. Highly recommended!

Cockroaches in our bathroom, not ideal when they scuttle across your feet. Very outdated and accessible bathroom very hard to navigate. Breakfast was a huge disappointment, with lack of service and all hot food was cold. Reception staff amazing but that was the only good thing.

We had the pleasure to stay at Rydges Sydney Harbour for our anniversary (4 days) and were so impressed with everything. Staff were absolutely obliging and our room was spotless, the beds so comfortable we slept 15 hours straight on our first night from travelling two days. Soft and firm pillows were provided and the food at breakfast was stunning. Could not fault anything and would happily recommend to travelers to stay at this hotel.

Great location, loved the rooftop.
Service was poor. Booked 4 rooms with friends over 6 months prior requesting rooms on the same floor however when we arrived this was not possible, still don't know why, they couldn't answer this question. Requested a taxi be booked for the airport in the morning and were told no problem, in the morning this had not been done and as we were heading to the airport this created stress which could have been avoided. Rooms average.

Location, location, location !!!
Rydges Sydney Harbour is located within a few minutes from Sydney Harbour with a view of the Harbour Bridge from the front doors entrance. Close to Central Station and Circular Quay to take a train or a ferry to various areas around Sydney and the Harbour. The Rocks markets are right on your doorstep as well. With a lovely buffet breakfast, happy hour in the afternoon and great location Rydges ticks all the boxes.

Stayed here for cruise. You are a half block from the cruise port, can see it from roof of hotel.

We had 3, wife, daughter, and I. The room was smaller, but very adequate! We purchased a King Deluxe with Harbour View....worth every penny! On floor 5 we could see the Opera House and even watched our ship, Carnival Splendor come into port.

They had made pull out bed up for daughter and she slept well. Room was a bit dated but as stated before, the hospitality and location made this unimportant.

Shops, restaurants, and entertainment all around the "Rocks District" and ferry shuttle ports was amazing, make sure to try the Pancake House!

Breakfast on-site was amazing as well, just a GREAT experience over all! Especially at the end, checked out with 5 bags, easily walked down the hill to cruise port, and boarded within 10-15 minutes! Highly recommend.

I gotta say, staying here was an absolute delight! The team really went above and beyond to take care of me. Seriously, nothing was too much trouble for them. They not only made my stay super enjoyable, but they also created an experience that's gonna make me come back real soon. The room had everything you could ask for, especially if you're on a business trip. Trust me, I'll be back and I highly recommend this place.

Rydges Sydney Harbour deserves a well-earned 5-star review! The hotel's prime location near the iconic Sydney Harbour is a definite highlight. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and impeccably clean. The staff is friendly, professional, and always willing to assist. While parking may be a bit challenging to find, the overall experience, including the stunning views and convenient amenities, make it a top choice for a memorable stay in Sydney.

The rooms were 3 star at best. Neat and clean. I would expect a few usb ports but there were none. The shower had no pressure at all and I couldn't rinse the shampoo out of my hair properly. It feels like an Ibis Hotel with toiletries. The TV is pretty small and I had to put glasses on to see the TV properly (but I don't need glasses to drive). For the money we paid, even if it was half price, I probably wouldn't stay here again. Location is great.

The location was perfect for our family (2a 2c) as we were boarding a cruise the next day! We took advantage of the rooftop pool and spa before embarkment day. The staff greeting us at check-in were fantastic and explained the dining and bar options to us, and kindly held our luggage once we checked out. We will book this hotel again when we're in Sydney and want to stay at The Rocks.

Great, convenient location to all famous landmarks. Staff helpful and friendly.
Bathroom left a lot to be desired. Tired, dated, and being elderly, having to climb into the bath to have a shower is not ideal, or safe.
Buffet breakfast was good value for money. Room rates astronomical for what you get. Paying for location only.

Terrific position and ultimately a good stay for 5 nights. The second room was great. First had no working air con and should not have been assigned to us or the people who were given it after us, fix it first. Surrounded by good restaurants and very close to all modes of transport. Not somewhere to visit if you have a car though. Parking a pain. Regardless, I'd happily go back again.

Amazing rooftop views. Pool is a bit small and it's a shame they don't have a bar there anymore. Rooms are average and dated but the location is great and the breakfast is good. Great value for money.

Location is absolutely fantastic with the most amazing views of the harbour and the Opera House from the roof top pool. The room was as you'd expect from a hotel, clean and comfortable - could do with a little maintenance but no big deal. We had the buffet breakfast which was very nice - $22 for adults and $10 for kids. Overall, great hotel and would highly recommend

Nice looking looking hotel at the Harbour.

On first seeing and entering it looks very nice and worthy of the star rating.

Service is good. Room service is and food generally is very expensive for what you get and gave me an upset tummy.

Rooms are pretty small and looking a bit tired and run down. Bathroom is poor. Bathroom definitely needs an upgrade and freshened up. Shower is impossible to use, either you get roasting hot water or freezing cold. Pressure is non existent compared to others.

Bed is ok and everything was clean. As said staff are nice but probably would stay somewhere else next time.

Good location. Clean hotel. A bit dated. Friendly staff. Really comfortable beds with a selection of pillows. Small fireplace to sit around in the winter. Good breakfast selection. Small bar area for a night cap. Heated pool and spa.

Booked in and went straight on our tour staff took our bags to our rooms for when we got back. When we got back the lady at front desk was very solemn rude and abrupt in telling us we couldn't have the disabled rooms we had booked and paid for in advance. NO SMILE NO COMPROMISE NO ALTERNATIVE offered by her. Was not happy at all. The other staff member Sophie immediately intervened and suggested we go to one of the three rooms booked freshen up and she would be right up shortly to discuss it with us. Not even 5minutes later she appeared and offered us a reasonable alternative. So grateful that someone with a beautiful attitude took the time to welcome us with a beautiful smile and solution. The rest of the stay was absolutely wonderful top class staff that catered to our every need. Breakfast was wonderful cooked to perfection and very good prices. Would highly recommend to anyone staying in the heart of Sydney. Thank you so much Sophie and the staff member Sean who checked us out they both went above and beyond for us as did the restaurant staff . Looking forward to our next visit.

Woah! I had the best time ever here! Got this hotel for a fantastic rate at ??????????.??? I like this resort and I'm really grateful I stayed at my favorite place for much less than what I generally pay.

Great stay, comfortable room and great location at the Rocks. Everything easy walk to. Up on level 6 best view.

Visiting from Melbourne, spent a long weekend here. Fabulous location, close to the Quay, train, ferries and light rail. Walking distance to plenty of eateries and bars/ pubs. Staff were lovely, wonderful comfy bed and pillows, very clean. Spectacular views from the rooftop. Thanks for a wonderful stay, willl be back

I recently stayed at Rydges Sydney Harbour for my 2 year anniversary with my partner. We will always have a terrible memory of this night because of this hotel. The only redeeming factor was the view and location. Quite possibly the most disappointing part was the rooftop which is the centrepiece of the hotels advertising online. The hot tub was empty and sectioned off due to "social distancing" which means it's been that way for months, yet no warning or disclaimer stating any change. We went up at 8:30pm to find the rooftop entirely dark no pool light and not even any lights which was a part of the stay we were looking forward to. The "24 hour room service" as stated on Rydges Sydney Harbour website was only available from 6-9pm. And finally, in "special requests" when making the booking, I made it clear this booking was to celebrate an anniversary. Our room placement was directly outside the elevator and conjoining with a janitors closet on an almost empty floor. So all day and night we got to enjoy the sounds of people coming in and out of the elevator and the maintenance worker opening and closing his closet and it being so loud it sounded like he was coming into our room every time! Not to mention LOUD knocking at the door at 8am and the cleaning lady trying to enter the room while we were still asleep.
Terrible experience, I would do anything to go back and book ANY other hotel in the area.
This being said, the bed was comfortable and most of the room was clean.
Clean and well maintained
