Incredible experience. Cosy place with a great atmosphere created by a nod to its past. Delicious food and the service was incredible. David made our night even more special with his attention to detail and fun loving personality. Helped pick some great drinks and meals for us. The mapo tofu with mushrooms was the pick of the bunch with the Brussels sprouts right up there as an accompaniment. Highly recommend this place!

Foods were a bit heavy, either too sweet or too salty. The soft shell crabs were not very fresh, as well as the salad next to the pork belly. I might be a bit strict here to Asian fusion foods as an Asian, but it's how I felt after coming here for twice.

Accidentally stumbled upon this place as we were meant to go next door. Two joints that allegedly are part of one establishment. Totally dead the night we appeared though it does fill up. Sent upstairs to cocktail lounge by "manager" with attitude and welcomed by bar dude who was polite. A little creepy upstairs with ceiling decorations but creates a vibe of sorts.

What a great place. The food was all as delicious as it looked. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. Enjoyed the experience as much as I did the food. Small portions and expensive but if you like good food, definitely worth it in my opinion.

Easy to miss but through the doorway and up a few flights of steps and you're greeted and taken through to the dining room. The menu is designed for sharing but several dishes come in a choice of sizes.

Pork & chicken moneybag dumplings with chili oil & chinkiang vinegar
Four lovely dumplings are presented with a slight chew in texture of the dumpling. I'd prefer a softer touch but it goes with the robustness of the filling and flavour. It might not seem apparent but the chilli oil packs a punch and is hidden against the black plate. This is contrasted against the chinkiang vinegar needed to balance the dish and the pork and chicken filling is delicious. Lovely start to the meal.

Braised beef short rib, plum-hoisin sauce & beetroot pickled cabbage
Roti bread, lemongrass, peanut & cashew satay

Under the mound of pickled beetroot cabbage lies chunky pieces of tender succulent beef short rib that falls apart and is rather unctuous. Very yum for the winter climes and the meatiness counteracted by the muted acidity of the beetroot pickled cabbage is a perfect combination. I also got the roti which is yum but the strong concentrated satay flavour also contrasts effectively against the beef short rib. Love the satay sauce. Highly enjoyable meal with excellent service in a relaxed atmosphere and ambience to boot.

Have dined here twice. Always impeccable service, which was rewarded with a tip. I never usually tip. Food is awesome. Asian fusion and both times I dined, I had the banquet. I would go back for the crispy Brussels sprouts- every time. Oh and the pork belly with dragon sauce 🙌 Next visit I will try the a la carte menu. Try Seamstress. You won't be disappointed 😊

Having been to the bar many times, this was the first time we dined at Seamstress. The food & service were excellent. We'll definitely be back!

Seamstress has a fun decor, great staff and some delicious cocktails. The food quality is high with some interesting twists on many asian dishes.

The place was pretty cool with an old bar vibe with red light when you walked in. The food was absolutely AMAZING and the cocktail was delish too! Very lovely and attentive staff. Highly recommended!! And I will definitely go back next time I'm in Melbourne.
