Settlers Tavern Tawonga South

The meals are typical pub style but more expensive. The bistro dining area was mostly dimly lit and half full. We requested the window seating with better light but staff refused our request stating they were reserved even though no reserve signs were on these particular tables. Between 6pm and 8.30pm we did not see one diner at these tables. We felt dismissed and that our patronage was not valued.

After a spending a day up on the slopes,
we were looking for some decent food. We came across Settlers Tavern. The pictures really do not do the food justice. The food portion was generous but more importantly the taste was really nice. The parmy was delicious moist chicken, sauce was sufficient, cheese was melted all around the parmy and the sides that dribbled onto the sides was crispy! The sticky ribs was nice had a smokey bbq sauce flavour and the addition of the grilled corn and onion rings was nice. The salt and pepper calamari had decent seasoning not over powering and it was slightly crispy. My son enjoyed the medium rare porter house steak with mushroom sauce.

Had the Barra and chips bloody excellent! Hot served at the bar immediately by a very polite young lady, big smile. Had to eat outside because we had a dog with us (understandable) but the waitress offered to put up the umbrella for us. Nice place would definitely pop in if I'm that way again.

Ordered the GRILLED LAMB RUMP with fresh greens. It was awesome! Loved it

Staying at the caravan park next door to these guys for the ANZAC day long weekend and stopped here for dinner with the missus, we arrived to a booked out bistro but fortunately we had a booking so no worries, as it was ANZAC day there was a 15% surcharge on everything, fair enough I guess but it quickly adds up, believe you me.
We ordered pretty quickly and the food was quite fast arriving less than 10 mins for our entree and mains were not long after that, the missus had the chicken caeser salad and it was the best she has ever had, I ordered the 'flamen heck' parmi and was bloody amazing, plenty of kick but not 'blow- ya- head- off' spicey so was very happy with it
I was very surprised however to be charged $5.75 for a small glass of soda water! I've never been charged for soda water before anywhere guys, ever.
Overall not a bad dining experience, kids running through the dining room was a bit annoying though
