Perfect for our needs. One mum, two kids and a dog on an outback NSW adventure. We needed a pet friendly place to stay, with Balranald as the start/end of our sunset tour of Lake Mungo (courtesy of Outback Geo Adventures). Shamrock let us check in at 1130am. It was great to arrive home late from our tour, and shower and roll into nice clean sheets. yes, the place is dated, but it was clean and quiet and worked for us. Thanks Shamrock.

Had two dinners at the restaurant - both were excellent! Staff are very friendly and lovely. Definitely out place for food when travelling through the town.

Food was perfect both times I've stopped here. Staff were wonderful and the service was second to none. If you're passing through or stopping nearby definitely worth goi g here for a meal and a cold one... or two..

The room was fresh and clean. Plenty of tea and coffee plus lovely little bottles of shampoo and conditioner, wish I had taken a picture as they were so cute. The menu look good but I was to tired to eat. Only thing I had a problem with was the entry, very dark, not well marked for night travellers. I had to go around the block to find the way in. Very quiet considering it is attached to a hotel. Recommended.

We have really good experience. We booked family room (1 large bed, 3 single beds) all beds have electric blankets. Room have air conditioning as well. Room has all facilities; TV, small fridge, dining table, microwave, sandwich toaster and hot water kettle, bath towels, shampoo, conditioner and soaps, coffee sachets, tea bags, sugar sticks, coffee cups, milk, bowls, small dishes and cutlery, tissue box.

Why is the cutlery in a sanitary towel bag?
Why does the bathroom bin seem to be a repurposed toilet brush holder?
Why are there two random pairs of used-looking (different sized) slides in the bathroom?
Why do you have to write your credit card number on a piece of paper or leave a cash deposit when there doesn't seem to be anything worth $100 in the room?
Have the bedspreads ever been washed?
Why have the repairs been made to look as if they've deliberately been completed as badly as possible?
Was there ever a lock on the security screen?
Aren't you supposed to clean carpet?
Is a "coffee maker" always synonymous with sachets of international roast and a kettle?
What are the mysterious smears on the walls and ceiling?
What is the strange smell?
Where is the WiFi that is apparently available?
Why is there a chest freezer in the car park?

We suggest you don't seek the answers to these questions. Just steer well clear of this place and stay somewhere else instead.

I would usually call and advise of issues but reading all the previous comments/reviews looks like the owners don't care anyway. Room had a bad smell when we arrived only to find out later it was a dead mouse rotting on the floor that had not been cleaned for days. Late arrival for an overnight stay with children was not worth moving to another room.
Light switch are coming away from wall and pose a very serious electrical shock.
Lighting is terrible.
AC would not work, even after staff came to get it working..
All of us were sneezing from the dust and just wanted to leave as soon as we woke up.
The owners and cleaners obviously could not care at all and I would strongly advise not staying here.
Have no idea why this place is still open, such a bad rep for the town.

If they invest a bit on changing the carpet and overall cleaning it's a very cosy place to stay. Also the guys at the bar need to learn a little bit of hospitality. Not that they were rude or anything , just too blunt.

Arrived to be advised we didn't have a booking. Told they had been booked out for the night. I advised I had booked over a week ago and had confirmation. Oh finally found my booking. Got to our room and turned heating in but after 2 hours the room was still cold. Dirty towels still hanging behind bathroom door. Carpet stains everywhere. Spoke to staff and they advised that the compressor in the air con had broken and they moved us to another room. By this time it was 8:30 at night.
The room we moved to was dirty and cobwebs everywhere. But it was warm!
I definitely would not recommend staying here. The place needs a bloody good clean up.

No unable to rate this place at all room not very clean carpet filthy no hot water for shower bed ok felt as though i needed to wipe my shoes on the way out pub meal very poor $42.50 steak old and tough not cooked to my liking sent it back came back the same worth maybe $25.00 we will definitely not be staying there again
Room was below expectations for the price. Most lights in the room did not work however there were enough to go to bed by. Bathroom although clean left a lot to be desired: vanity basin had been replaced but not the tiles/painting around it: barely enough room between the vanity basin and the sliding door: toilet paper dispenser broken and taped up with sticky tape: toilet paper roll sitting in a shelf; a $5 toilet roll holder and 5 minutes labour could have solved this. Shower was hot and strong- pretty much the only redeeming feature in the bathroom. Although the carpet in the room had been vacuumed god knows how long since being shampooed. Bed was comfortable

Do bad first. Microwave dirty. Water in sink wouldn't run away. Cleaners should have noticed it as presumably that's where they get their water from. when cleaning. Sheets and towels scrupulously clean. Bed very comfy. Shower great. Very, very good price.

Spend the extra bit of money and go elsewhere, overpriced. Stayed there a few nights ago, was the cheapest available on accommodation site. Obvious issues - security door with no lock, cobwebs in ceiling corner, dead flies on window ledge, toilet paper dispenser (for flat paper of which there was none provided, only round rolls which wouldn't operate in it), strands of hair on wall near toilet, traces of soap still in shower soap holder, room in desperate need of upgrade and no internet still (previous complaint 4 days earlier?????) The biggest concern was an empty smoke alarm bracket on the ceiling (smoke alarm found in a drawer unusable) which highlights the duty of care management have for users of the rooms.

Dirty room with bugs
I dont know what the owner and cleaning staff are thinking when they allow a room to be sold in this state - obviously from other reviews they are happy running a filthy motel
I also hope that they appreciate their wonderful bar staff who had to deal with the situation on arrival
When they saw that there were bugs running around in the bed - mouse poo on the pillows - toothpaste in the sink - dirty surfaces and grime they were apologetic and tried to relocate us without luck unfortunately - while we went to have dinner the lovely young lady cleaned the room for us - they also refunded our full rate which was appreciated and necessary
Do not stay here !!!

For the price we paid per not Not worth it at all!! Filthy rooms, full of dirt and dust, hospital dressings stuck on the wall. If you have allergies or respiratory issues do not stay here you won't be able to breath at night.

Only 1 drinking glass in room, coffee cups were not clean still had coffee stains in bottom of cups obviously not washed, toilet seat is broken.
Mud left on carpet, mirrors were disgusting and our chips for dinner were stone cold not far from being frozen.

Check in person needs to be taught people skills. Fire in the bar a nice touch. Bar staff helpful and friendly.
Meal was pub quality. We
could not get the air-con to keep working. The carpet in room was dirty and room had a strange smell. Would not stay again however Okay for 2 stars.

Do not book here. We made a booking for 3 nights, gave them our credit card number. Travelled from the Hunter Valley (12hrs) when we arrived they couldn't find our booking. The manager was to busy next door drinking in the pub and wouldn't speak to us. We were told we had to look elsewhere for a room because they had double booked. Receptionist couldn't care less and the manager was drunk.
Don't risk booking here plenty of other accommodation in the area. Big inconvenience to arrive at night to find you don't have a room.

What place!!! You couldn't get friendlier more accommodating staff, the meals well absolutely scrumptious tried to work my way through the menu in our week stay. Could not pick a favourite the next one was just as good as the last one. Will definitely be back even the locals what legends thanks to you all.

It was really a nice stay, and I would like to highlight the awesome hospitality we received on reaching there.
Last month we drive from Sydney and reached late, we thought of having dinner in the Motel, but unfortunately, the time we reached, the kitchen was closed and nothing available.
The lady at reception, (sorry I forgot her name), really grateful to her, as she gave us bread, butter, chicken from her home and we finally had dinner that night.
Thanks a lot for all your hospitality !!Cheers!! :-)

Surprised by how much we enjoyed the place! Stayed in room 2, had power points and light switches right next to the bed, electric blankets, room heating, and a REALLY nice shower.
Reviewing the restaurant only. Don't bother! First impression was the gum chewing barmaid trying to rip me off for $15 change. Wasn't very happy when I called her out on it. Then came my steak! One would expect in the Riverina you could get a good steak, wrong, what I was served was the toughest, stringiest excuse for scotch fillet I have ever had. My boot would have been easier chewing, and better flavour!

Room was smelly. Bed was hard. All the dishes and cutlery were dirty.
Prickles all through the carpet. Shame as we really needed a good bed to sleep after such a long drive.
