Was here for work group lunch. Food was good, reasonably priced & promptly served, halloumi burger & chips tasted ok. They specialise in parmi, about 20 different parmis on the menu. Menu had the standard pub items but the specials board had a lot more. Place was quite full at mid-week lunchtime. Lots of seating area and bar tables.

Came here on a weeknight with a local - my son & had a great meal in front of a cosy fire.
Add a house red & I'm one happy mama.
We had pork roast & rump steak for $20 each !!

Went for lunch, ordered a Porterhouse Steak which cost $34. What I got didn't taste very good and it was quite chewy. I don't know if a portion of the meat was missing or not, but I don't think this was worth the price. You can get a lot more at other restaurants at a much lower price.

I eat at the Shamrock regularly. Good pricing, serving size, and friendly staff.
The food quality is sometimes hit and miss but is usually reasonable if not very good.
Being an older building with a smallish dining room it feels cosy but can get extremely noisy at dinner times depending on other patrons, especially with large groups. Sometimes other groups are so loud I've found it impossible to converse with my own table mates.
Despite the downsides it's still one of my favourite pubs in Hobart to dine at in terms of value.

I had my birthday dinner here and I'm so glad I did. The staff were friendly and the food was great. They have a great variety on their menu for people who have all different budgets. Their portion sizes are great too. Everyone who came to the dinner was happy with their meal. Would definitely recommend this place. ?

My family goes there a few times a year. We like it. First off the price is unbeatable. Putting this in consideration, their food which is actually OK can easily surpass our expectations. We also like the atmosphere. It's not a quiet place and that's GOOD for us. So we can bring our baby and talk normally without worrying about disturbing others.

Had a schnitzel with mash and veg. Nothing fancy but it was fresh, and cooked well, veggies and all.
Young blonde waitress was attentive and was running around the whole time!

came here a couple weeks ago when we were in Tassie. it was our favourite place to eat. the servings and quality of the food was amazing, especially for the price. especially enjoyed the thai beef salad and the burger.

Absolute top-shelf pub - coming from Melbourne where all of our pubs have been gentrified or renovated and dish up $15 pints and $30 parmas, it was refreshing to find a pub that was unpretentious with extremely well priced beer and food. So good to sit in the front bar, mix with locals and watch the world go by! A proper aussie pub

It's a cool place that's obviously popular with locals, and that is nice. The prices of food are good (haven't seen prices like that in other cities in a decade) but the food was meh. I could have recreated my meal using the frozen aisle at Woolworths, and hubby's meal was a tiny bit of chicken with a salad made of iceberg lettuce, grated carrot and red onion. Great for an after-work beer, but disappointed with the food.

You go to the pub for a countery and a drink not to listen to noisy little brats. Yes I asked the staff if we could be seated elsewhere and they were very obliging. Thanks - and the food was great too ??'?

I took my wife out for her birthday today I so disappointed with the meal to ask creamy mushroom sauce, what we got was not I won't be back till it improves .

Went here for a late lunch. We ordered chicken parmigianas and a few drinks. The service was very quick, the food was delicious, good value for money, and quite large portions. The staff were also very friendly and helpful.

My disabled husband and I went there for lunch today.
The staff were very friendly and efficient, but the food was very sub standard.
No lemon or tartare sauce for my husband's fish and chips.
The $16 rump I could fit on the palm of my small hand and half of it was fat and bristle.
The salad was beyond basic, just a bit of lettuce, carrot and tomato, No cucumber or an olive or dressing. Very poor. When I said something I was told that's what you get for $16!

I go here twice a month, it has the best pub grub around and cheap as. Lynne and the staff are superb I only have to walk into the bar and my drink is ready for me.

Fish baramundi was bland, dry and not tasty. Chilli chicken better to name it as curry chicken instead and rest good service and friendly staff.

Came at peak lunch time, so very busy, but the staff made it look easy. You'll get everything you want at this Irish Australian pub, we had the Shamrock burger and the grilled fish of the day, which was barramundi. The burger is huge, and tastes great, just need to use a knife and fork. Barramundi was nice, but a little dry. Sides and beers were equally tasty. Overall, a great pub.

Can't rate the food or service highly enough, and the value was amazing!!! We were so impressed, that even though we were only in Tassie for 4 days, we ate dinner here twice!! The steaks here were better than one of the supposed "high end" resturants we ate at in Hobart!!!

waited 40 minutes for a steak to find out my docket hadn't been added to the chefs list. NOT HAPPY, poor service, hopefully better next time.

Update: i have now received my steak but instead of the ordered vegies i was given chips. the service just gets better.... downgrading to 1 star.

Good service, food was awful. Chicken schnitzel cooked to a crisp, steak was tough definitely an old dairy cow. Never again. Caesar salad was nice.

Went to this hotel for dinner twice during our 4 night stay in Hobart recently. We found the meals to be of a high standard with plenty of options for main and dessert. The prices were also VERY reasonable. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed. Would recommend.

Raw steak. Returned it they pretty much said what do you expect for 10. I expect it to be cooked. Geesh.
