Shoalhaven Heads Hotel, Shoalhaven Heads NSW

Very old school hotel which needs an update, better signage as to order at bar and collect elsewhere. Limited range of alcohol to be brought at the bar unfortunately if you don't drink what is pushed as favourable by promoter's.

Food was great, bar service was horrible. Ordered a Jim beam & Coke and received a Jim beam & water. Was asked to wait to re-fill the Coke dispenser and was told it was going to be served to me at my table which wasn't. Had to wait over 10 minutes which take longer than to drink. Need more staff and/or better training, dissatisfied.

Good pub and good feed, but $10.50 a beer is a bit steep.

Understand costs etc, but our local pub at home has been doing $6 beers as a special for the last few months. Don't expect $6 beers, but $10.50 ?

Thought I was on a cruise for those prices.

Our family of 3 went for dinner when staying at the caravan park down the road. The AI booking system over the phone was problematic if you've never been there before and don't know where you want to sit. So we popped in on the Sunday morning to book the courtesy bus for pick up that night and a table in the bistro.
Waited for 20 mins for courtesy bus then decided to walk in the cold. The bus was still sitting in the parking lot when we got there. We arrived and were told our booking wasn't in the system but there were plenty of tables available.
So we kept an open mind and ordered from the very limited menu. The food arrived and the portions were downright stingy. Smallest chicken parma I've ever seen, my husband could have eaten 3 if them! The food was average quality and overpriced.
The location is beautiful, but the facilities are run down, especially the bathroom. The barman was absolutely lovely, as was the young lady at the bistro, but the food was a major letdown. We ate at the bowling club 2 nights before and it was far superior quality and significantly cheaper.

We booked a table for 22 friends to have lunch for Melbourne Cup. We were pleased that there wasn't a cup function and we could order off the menu. We could not fault the staff in the bar/tab area nor the bistro. They were exceptional. I hope the owners/managers realise and appreciate their efforts.
The food was also fantastic.
