Latest reviews for Stamford Plaza Sydney Airport Hotel & Conference Centre, Mascot NSW

No water or toothbrush/comb/shaver provided, dimly lit room, aging facilities, definitely not a 5-star hotel. Room doors keep slamming, very disturbing in the evening.
10min walk from domestic terminal, A$12 shuttle bus to international terminal, 10min walk to nearest convenience store.
Decent breakfast spread. Room service food and variety were decent, arrived within 20min.
The room is quite dark with insufficient lighting, and the location is a bit far from everything; you have to walk about 1 km to the Mascot station.

The biggest issue, which I completely don't understand at all, is that Stamford Plaza is a 5-star hotel, right? I went to the restaurant called "La Boca Bar and Grill" and only asked for two small packs of butter for my bread. The late 40s Asian lady who works there told me that it would be charged to my room. She didn't greet me with any smile at all. She was so so so rude and looked so grumpy and moody.

I was like, "Are you being serious?" This is a 5-star hotel in a big city called Sydney, a first-world country!!! And you're going to charge your guests for butter. The lady couldn't even give me an answer and walked away. This is the most horrendous service I have ever experienced in my life.

I was wondering how she passed the interview to work here, or was it just a lucky draw? LOL

Bad attitude!!

The rooms beautiful - clean -roomy - room service only could get meals from the restaurant down stair no toasties available or simple menu - got a large hot chocolate and was in a medium size cup and cost $10 but it was lovely. Bottle of water $5 - I feel for the amount a room costs 2 bottles of water complimentary would be not too hard to ask.
Close to airport taxi drive said you can walk which one could IF you have no luggage and runners on and right to get across large traffic crossings!!

Might have been better if the bus had been running when we got there but they stop very quickly after the flight curfew. Hence arriving just before curfew with luggage means you will miss the last one. The hotel was a good 20 minute walk from the Qantas domestic terminal with no directions and Google maps suggesting multiple routes that wouldn't work. I think Google was confused by the terminal being on several levels.
This makes the description as an airport hotel a bit tenuous.
The description of the walk as mainly flat was fine until the last 50 meters when it is up quite a steep slope.
Rooms are pretty standard for a hotel fare with a couple of beers in the minibar. Beds were comfy and bathroom had everything needed with space for a small party, no more than 8.
We didn't get to try any of the facilities but there were people in the pool before 6:30.
Not sure I'd use this hotel for Sydney airport but the decision will be mainly on price so I can't rule it out.

We stayed one night as a birthday present. Check in was a major drama, The girl on the desk couldn't find the booking!!!
Eventually, we got it sorted. But she put us in the back room, even though we requested an airport view.
It seems we were lost in translation, the receptionist was from Russia!!
However, the room was spacious and very comfortable. So we enjoyed stay.
Please be aware, if you ask for a nice room with a view? Make sure you get it. Don't take the first one that gave you!!

This airport hotel offers spacious well appointed rooms and bathroom, good room service and is only a 9 minute walk from the domestic terminal, which is good because taxis refuse to take the fare to the hotel.
Hotel is in proximity to the airport, but you can't really walk from the airport with a luggage on because of the roads in between. Room was decent except that it didn't come with bottled water or wifi. My check in and check out experience was meh. Staff couldn't look at me in the eye while talking to me.

There's nothing much to explore (food wise) around the hotel, the nearest spot is probably too far walk. The only plus is the (only) restaurant in the hotel serves pretty good steak though ??'??

I'm not racist by any means however the staff they had on when I recently stayed were all of Indian descent and could not understand simple English. Myself along with other travellers in the que next to me had the same issue on the night I stayed. Wasn't a pleasant experience. They did however fix an issue when asked.

Unique hotel proximity to Sydney Airport. Especially for those who are travelling only domestically. The rooms are adequate and clean. Bathroom was modern. However the condition is the room doesn't have a light in the ceiling established. Also it would be appreciating if another rubbish bin is provided instead of just the bathroom. But overall great stay.

Coming to Sydney for a four-day weekend we opted to stay at this fantastic establishment. Having a love of aviation and a photographer of aircraft, we asked for a high room with airport views on booking the room. Unfortunately, that request was not granted, which was disappointing. "However," that did not take anything away from the amazing place that the Stamford is. The rooms were large, the bed was really comfortable, and the shower was hot. We paid for breakfast upfront with the room, and the choice is vast. They cater for everyone. After a busy day site seeing, it was lovely to come back to our room that was serviced during the day. The atmosphere, the cleanliness, the staff, the location, and the food, it was a lovely place to stay and we will be back soon.
Whether it's a night or a week, I strongly recommend staying here.
Denise Dalton
Very helpful staff, but there was no coffee shop or bar to visit between the restaurant hours. Definitely didn't want to have room service. Wanted to relax in comfortable surroundings. Food was so, so.

I recently stayed at the Stamford at the Sydney Airport, and while my experience was satisfactory, it fell short of my expectations for a high-end hotel. The rooms were clean, but dated, and the service was average at best. I had a negative experience with room service, as my dinner order was messed up, and the staff member I spoke with was extremely rude and unhelpful. The hotel restaurant lacked ambiance and appeared run-down, and the bar area was understaffed and overwhelmed. Overall, while the Stamford is an okay option if you can find a good deal, there are better hotels in the area, such as the nearby Pullman. If you're looking for a luxurious and exceptional experience, I would recommend looking elsewhere."

I don't think this is a 5 star hotel..3.5-4 stars at best
The only decent thing is the gym and proximity to the airport.
The faculties are outdated including the room and bathroom (clean but old)
There's not even a microwave in the room and I get that in most 3 star hotels.
The beds are comfy enough.
The minibar fridge was empty which was shocking.
The gym and pool shut at 10pm which is annoying for people who work late and return to find they can't use it. A spa would have been a nice addition since the pool is outdated and in the open without heating.
When I was staying I heard a woman fighting and screaming next to my room
Which was super annoying

Average hotel, good location.

This is not a 5 star hotel. Average fit out in the rooms, very dated. Mouldy grout in the bathroom.

There is 0 minibar in room. Not even a bottle of water. Great place to stay? No. Convenient? Yes.
Avoid! "King double bed" was a king mattress mounted on two single frames, that came apart - mind the gap. Bar fridge was completely empty, restaraunt pricing ridiculous. $14 for corn flakes, $11 for bottled water. Extra $5 for room service delivery. The room was clean, besides a thin layer of dust on everything. The decor is dated, no smart TV. The water out the tap looked powdery. Never again.
Robert Peck
Warm water in the room from both hot and cold taps, no hot at all.
Mostly though the restaurant charged $35 for breakfast and it was truely terrible. The food area was dark, completely unkempt with borderline inedible food. No staff in sight. I wouldn't eat there a second time if it was included.

Do not stay here.
Rooms were dated, and sub-par, you could find much better for cheaper.
The parking and food was ridiculously expensive.
Also, they asked for a $200 deposit for our stay, only to never pay it back and claim it was paid to another account. We are now out of pocket $200 for a hotel I would not go back to.
It's close to the airport, but I would rather stay somewhere else and suffer the walk.
This hotel is not luxury, clean, or an enjoyable stay. the only positive is the black out curtains.

Just not cool! From the moment going in to our room. I am 185cm and my partner 179cm. Fit but still not small people! Terrible king single bed. Shocking pillows, quilt that was so thin like a babies cot style with 2 single sheets on either side. Who does that? Bathroom was run down, plumbing not working in toilet and the air conditioner didn't work. Hated the experience and never going back!

Disappointing for a four stay hotel . . Mini bar and snacks empty , x3 thin pillows to share, ( great for watching tv for two in bed ....not). No bottled water water out of the tap only, , no guest info book for room service menu, hotel restaurants or for local knowledge , numbers on phone do not correspond . Ring housekeeping no one answers , ring reception no one answers. Ring duty manager no one answers , the phone tabs Need to be updated . One small soap to share for two people, nope not acceptable sharing soap .
close to airport, teabags and milk promptly delivered by housekeeping when finally got phone numbers sorted, . Concierge gentleman very prompt in delivering bags to the room , rooms very clean .

10min walk from domestic Airport. From international, take free shuttle to domestic. I tried to take taxi and taxi driver told me to walk. But not a easy walk if you have large bag. Hotel is nice with large room.
Breakfast was $35, I think over priced and selection was very limited.

I stayed here for 4 nights with my partner. In the 4 days we stayed the room was never cleaned even though we set the room door sign to clean every day. The restaurant down stairs was in chaos with only two people working it so the wait to order was long and the food very average. One of the girls working behind the main desk tried to charge us $100 every day for a deposit and also said we would have to check out and in again every day? Don't know what that was about?
We let it go until the next day when she wasn't there and then had a chat to another stuff member so they could fix it up for us.
This hotel looks great on the website but I'd like to know who gives them the 5 star rating?
I would never come back here and my overall experience wasn't good.
U guys get 2 stars, I can't even say it's for effort because I don't even think u guys tried.
My advice to anyone thinking about staying here is to think again.

Old and dated. Doesn't look like anything has been done to the rooms for at least 20 years. Size ok. Might almost be 3 star quality. Staff poorly informed on my first night of quarantine meant I received my ordered food well after midnight and of course it was cold. Nothing would make me return here. Photo is the best crockery and cutlery they have. Rooms are noisy as you would expect for an airport hotel - you can hear your neighbours, especially toileting and showering. Oh, and that is the goods train in the photo that goes past regularly at all hours day and night. Bed is too soft. Chair for the desk is obviously not to be used for any work given its lack of support.

I am here due to mandatory quarantine. I love to stay inside the spacious room given to me with a big window through which I can see a great view and no noise. The space is clean and tidy. They have provided with extra towels and soaps so I won't need to knock them. Personally I don't like to communicate with the reception and here I didn't need too. All I have requested them is to give me Halal food and mild high protein food and they are maintaining it. I study or browse in my laptop all day long and it feels quite peaceful after the 20 hours long journey to Sydney. Happy. :)

Everything apart from the "food", if you can call it that, is what you would expect out of a Stamford Hotel near the airport. No outside air/opening window in the rooms, which is acceptable for a one night stay near the airport if you need it... but this hotel should never have been picked as a quarantine hotel. There is simply not an adequate amount of fresh air or sunlight to stay in the room for 14+ days.
The "food" is an absolute disgrace and a genuine health hazard. The fact that people are paying for it in their quarantine bill is truly appalling. I'm not suggesting that tax payers fund this garbage either. Expect to spend double your quarantine cost in ordering food to keep you alive from external sources. Don't bother ordering hot food though, it will be stone cold ruined before it gets to you.
Provide an option for people to feed themselves with shelf stable food and lower the quarantine costs if edible food isn't going to be provided....

Difficult to enter and exit by car. Disinterested staff in Reception. Rooms are quite good, bathrooms are impressive, but walls are thin and let noise in. Smallest fridge. Comfortable bed.

Fantastic staff, helpful, well-spoken, go the extra mile, attentive to details and I consider it not always easy to find superb service, but the Stamford Plaza Sydney Airport staff are lovely and professional. Anything I asked for at check-in, was responded to with a can-do approach and sorted with a smile. The pond at the main entrance is beautiful, the lobby is huge and stylish, the room was impeccable, clean and tidy, the bed comfy and the sheets crisp. The location is perfect, close to everything in Sydney, city a $13 ride on Ola. Could not rate this place less than 5 stars for great service despite the swimming pool not being open on such a sunny day.
