Stopped here for my Fiancee's birthday lunch, all was going great untill my partners Scotch fillet steak came out and it was off, I took a bite myself after she asked me what I thought, it was disgusting! They asked if we wanted another one, no thanks mate, we can't eat steak hear again after tasting that! We opted for the fish and chips instead.

Fantastic meal, very well priced and really fast service. The fish and chips was a large serving and very tasty. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Bright.

A group of us stayed in Bright for 2 days and had dinner at The Star Hotel both nights. Cold beer and great meals, one of the best steaks I've ever had. But best of all was the service, which is hard to find these days. Highly recommended.

What happened to the local pub vibe? Good meals. Good value. Good choices.
Prices through the roof. Pay extra for veggies if you don't want salad. $10 extra.
Even the menu selection isn't the best anymore.

And the guy swanning around the place like he owns it. Big bearded guy.

You have lost it. You have lost customers. I'm sure the locals will be next. The locals are the heart and soul of keeping this place alive once the tourists have all gone home.

Have a real close look at the long term staff who have built the pub up and the new guy who is tearing it down.
I gave a 5 star service review as Wayne and Julie are awesome hosts and represent The Star Hotel in a manner of professionalism. That surpasses the new guy there.
I am more than happy to discuss this review in more detail if the owners feel it necessary.

Friends and I arrived in Bright on Sunday evening and dined at this establishment for Monday Lunch. The meals were very large and for the most part well received along with a nice bottle of wine.

However, my interactions with a specific staff member (in a forum not related to the venue or our time spent there in any way) has left a very negative impression of the person and by extension the venue.

Management of this establishment may reach out to me if they desire and further details can be provided in a non-public forum.

The only good things were the roast and the dessert. Gnocchi was overcooked and drowned in over salty and garlic sauce, none of our party of four could eat it, it was sickly. Tandoori chicken was pink and raw, the rice was dry, and it tasted nothing like tandoori chicken at all. Both meals were undersized and overpriced. Mostly, the issue was the lack of interest in fixing the issues we mentioned. We told two separate staff members and heard nothing after. We
left with one hungry diner and another worrying about food poisoning. The least we could have been offered a credit, replacement meal, or a refund. We will not be back.

Stayed in Bright for 1 night and decided to come here for dinner. Service was really great. Staff were really fast to come over and take our food and drinks order. The restaurant was busy with most tables taken up and the rest were reserved, and yet the food only took 10-15minutes.
I did ask to add pineapple onto my schnitzel, and they forgot to put it on, but the food was super delicious and I would definitely return if I visited again.

Worst dining experience in my life.
No gluten free option for my child.
My sister's chicken was raw, and had to be returned. My wife's 'crispy squid' was soggy and went uneaten. My brother in-laws chicken was undercooked and went uneaten. Two wines tasted bad and went un-drunk. The sound of the rugby on the tv next to our table was off the charts.
Absolute disgrace. The universe played a joke on us tonight, and I can hardly believe how bad it was.

Great place for a pub dinner. Food was tasty (recommend the lamb roast), with generous servings sizes.
The bar service was exceptional. A Good country pub, run by good country people.

Came in for a night out with the family.
We all had our meals in great time considering they were quite busy.
Every one was happy with their meal and drinks.

Four of us had dinner tonight all different meals which we agreed were really good, plus really friendly staff Would recommend here and will certainly return.

Excellent customer service and a very decent feed for a reasonable price. The kids Parma was generous and notably, was made with spag bol sauce too (so much better than the Napoli you get elsewhere)

Reasonably priced, classic pub meals and a decent serving size. Friendly staff. I'd definitely eat here again if I make it back to bright.

Went there at 6 pm, ordered roastbeef with vegetables. I was told it would take about 15min. At 7 pm, I finally complained where is my food. Turns out my docket got lost. For apology, they reimbursed that second glass of waiting wine. The roast beef came within minutes of the complaint, a lot of it, but so dry it was hard to get down. Veggies were mostly potato, which I don't count as vegetable but as fill starch with little nutritional value. Not happy, but their house wine was quite drinkable.

Last minute choice for dinner.... Pizza or here... glad we stayed and had a great meal, very good actually. The kitchen staff were great and thank you.

Went for a family meal while on holidays. Meals were ordered and served quickly, my plate was dirty, furnishings could do with a clean. Order drinks, glasses were filthy, ask for water, got hot tap water.

Girls weekend we had dinner and the meals were lovely and the service soooo quick for a large order our meals came before some of us had finished at the bar after ordering. Everyone's meals were great highly recommend

We visited on "steak night". Excellent value and a great feed! The steaks were cooked exactly as requested. No complaints from us!

Service was absolutely appalling from giving our meals to the wrong people, to being told the f@#k off and sit down after enquiring when our meals would arrive, when half our party was served and the other half waiting for 1 hour. The rudest lady serving with the foulest mouth. If I could give zero stars, I wouldn't hesitate.

Staff are very friendly. Food was great. Chicken and mushroom lasagne was the best.

We are regular visitors to Bright and always dine at the Star Hotel. Always great food and great service by great people. Just wanted to give a shout out to the team serving us tonight which was a public holiday of a long weekend. Our meals were delicious and arrived quickly. The team were so busy with the venue fully booked but seemed to have it all under control. Unfortunately other venues in Bright are dealing with staff shortages impacting operations but it seems a great meal served by great people continues to be available at The Star Hotel.

Excellent country pub. Parking can be a problem. We watched the footy on the big screen. Food was reasonably good. Very understaffed but friendly people. Worth the visit if you are every in Bright.

Went to the Star for dinner with the family to celebrate a birthday.
The hotel was a lot better than the last time I was there. The food was fantastic, service was great . I will be back.

Service was good and food good. Would have been better if gambling was separated a bit more from food area.

Two families of 5, looked on website about bookings which said bookings essential. We called and was told walk ups only from 5.30, no bookings taken. Confused we called another 6 times just to confirm this was true. All answers were yes. So we all turned up at 5.20 just in case and was told that the place was booked out and we needed to have made a booking. This is not what we were told with all of these calls. Very disappointed with staff not knowing what was going on. We ended up getting fish and chips which was a better alternative and saved us over $200 each. Won't even try to make a booking here again. Can't trust what you are told.

Owner must be a legend, has VB on tap! Food was fantastic and affordable. Classic country pub, be proud guys, well done.

I am an Alpine person, but not any more. I have been drinking and eating at the Star this week and they have been awesome. 6 of us tonight for dinner and we all loved everything. the staff are brilliant... just control smoking in the outside dining area please. We have been coming to Bright for decades and the Star has never been better..
