North Byron Hotel - Pub in Byron Bay New South Wales

Visiting Byron from Melbourne. Staying at the excellent Elements resort just down the road.

We ventured out of the resort to the pub for my partners 35th birthday.

My chicken burger was pretty average. The "fermented" chilli sauce was atrocious and tasted like a Marie Rose sauce that belonged in my partners fish burger.

The fish burger was actually fairly decent. The chips were stone cold. By the time our hot chips had arrived we were done eating our burgers. Total waste of time and money. Will head to Betty's Burgers next time 😂

People were nice, DJ was good, atmosphere lovely. Food....the dog would have enjoyed it. Pizzas looked nice. Maybe I'll try that if we ever pluck up the courage to visit again.

What a gem! A really lovely pub! The food was just fantastic, the atmosphere brilliant, and outdoor area was welcoming and fun. Highly recommend having a meal and a drink here, definitely worth your while - particularly that amazing caesar salad!

The facilities were excellent and the garden area was exceptional. The selection of beer wasn't great unless you like an IPA or something sweet, or with lots of hops.
The quality of food was variable. The seafood platter came out on a bed of ice, which is a great idea on a hot day, but it had been out so long that the ice was part melted and some of the food was immersed in the water from the melted ice.
Not great.
The connecting thread through both food and drink is that it was expensive.
We won't be back.

Having moved to Byron bay from Melbourne 3 years ago, we appreciate good food, atmosphere and love a great garden! North Byron hotel has the most gorgeous outdoor space and the garden absolutely makes the place inviting and visually gorgeous! It's incredible. We love sitting amongst the gorgeous vines and flowers and a bonus to have beautiful photos to send to family in Melbourne who always comment on how gorgeous the outdoor area and flowers look. Of course we bring them to see it in person, every time they visit. Food is good too.

The North Byron Hotel earns an enthusiastic five stars! From the moment you sit down, you can feel the spirit of generosity woven through everything here. The portions are truly something to marvel at - hearty, plentiful, and clearly made with love. The chef must have a generous heart to send out plates this abundant, and in today's world, that kind of generosity is a refreshing reminder of what hospitality is all about.

The Mediterranean influence on the food adds a vibrant, sun-kissed quality to the menu. Each dish feels like a journey, with bold flavors, fresh ingredients, and that unmistakable touch of warmth that Mediterranean cuisine is known for. Whether it's the succulent lamb, rich with herbs, or the zesty, olive-dotted salads, every bite sings of thoughtful preparation and care.

The decor, with its Byron vines weaving through the space, brings a natural charm that perfectly complements the food. It's a reminder of the lush environment outside, seamlessly blending the indoor and outdoor vibes. As I enjoyed the meal, I couldn't help but imagine how a bar like The Velvet Fedora - with its suave atmosphere and creative cocktails - would fit into this kind of environment. Generosity and style go hand in hand, and it's inspiring to think of how that could translate elsewhere.
