Went here during the fringe festival and the atmosphere was superb, the bar staff were quick to serve even though they were super busy.

Really enjoyable couple of hours spent here watching the world go by.

Mate who used to live here -well not AT the Austral, only most weekends and Thursday and Friday nights- she used to live and work in Adelaide... She said I have to come here for her sake and my own sake. She's a got chick, funny and sagacious, so here I am. Enjoying the wide range of Coopers in the heart of Adelaide. It's not chockers at the mo even tho its Friday 830pm 24.11.2023 but its good. Staff are good folk.

Dropped in here for a drink. Sat outside on the main street which was nice; wine, people watching and good weather. Bar staff were friendly. There is a pool table and we were there on quiz night. The guy running it pulled us in along with three others. We all formed a table, just strangers having fun it was a good night. Found the hotel had a friendly nice vibe.

I was staying at the Pullman hotel. I googled what pubs where close by I found the Austral, we had the barramundi it was nice however it was extremely salty. The music was extremely loud. There is a pool table.

Went in for a quick meal. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Steak was cooked to perfection. Salad was fresh. Chips were good, apart from being overly salty, with a hint of spice, but that's fine. I like a bit of seasoning on my chips.

Great place to come for any occasion, staff are super friendly, chicken snitzel was one of the best I've ever tasted and affordable. Chips were a little too salty and spicy for me, but overall I really enjoyed my experience at the Austral.

Now, if you want Coopers on tap, give this place a go. We're knocking back an Aged Extra Stout, which I'd give 9/10. It certainly gives the English stouts a run for their money. A great atmosphere as well, means we'll be back tomorrow for Trivia ??'???

Cook your squid properly... it shouldn't be rubbery.

Less crumbing on the chicken..more chicken or just less crumbing and actually fry the crumbing properly.

One of the oldest pub in Adelaide and I do like them. The only minus was louder music in the pub. Couldn't have proper chat with my buddies while we were drinking.

Veggie options are awesome, the eggplant parmigiana is the best, but the mushroom burger w fries were a bit too spicy for me.

Great tasting food. Really good quality ingredients, nice friendly staff and just a great atmosphere to hang out.

Had a pretty decent meal at The Austral. Beer selection is reasonable and the atmosphere is that simply of a pub. Practical bar service, pay and go drink your beer, easy.

Great pub, very friendly staff, very professional. I was told this place is like an 'institution' and a must visit if in Adelaide city. This place didn't disappoint, that's for sure. I hope I'm lucky enough to get a chance to visit again sometime soon.

Such a quirky pub. I like the games room. The service bar is special... it looks like an old style betting kiosk. Great venue for a stop on a night out.

The above review is a little old now and the Austral has changed management and had a facelift. Tables are no longer sticky for example. The attached photos show the new 'look'. The beer is still the same but something has been lost in atmosphere, although that might just be me struggling (as ever) to adapt to change.
