The atmosphere is quirky, the staff were excellent and the food delicious. There is a new menu. I had the mushroom fettuccine, which was lovely and a generous portion. The deserts are huge and 2 vegan options. They've added their own spin to the traditional banana split and chocolate sundae but oh so yummy. I suggest sharing between 2 or 3 people. Thanks Jason and crew for a great evening.

Went for lunch on Father's Day, and I had a great time. Good service and food, too.
Kid's meal-fish and chips, fish was melting in mouth and could tell wasn't a cheap drozen fish served.
Nice spot away from the busy The Parade, but it's still pretty cool and has its own parking, too

Ordered rib eye steak shared between 2 for $94. You get 2 extra sides in addition to the 500g steak, fries & salad. We got the broccolini in cashew cream + basil tomato salad. Tbh wasn't expecting much from pub food but it blew our socks off. Restaurant quality, steak cooked to perfection as what we ordered. Both the sides are highly recommended. Fries were a bit blonde. Gravy was good. Cocktails were delicious. I must say pricing was quite high for a pub meal & atmosphere.

Dined here last Wednesday for their schnitzel special night - I ended up having the parmy that wasn't included in the special - but it was delish! Prob just go for the discount ones next time as they were the same size and quality just without the cheese. The service was fantastic- very entertaining staff. Really enjoyed it .

Pleasant experience. Nice staff and very accommodating. Food tastes fine. Their schnitzel is huge!!! Love the 'Alpha box & dice tarot' prosecco. My wagyu beef burger tastes alright.

I have loved the Colonist for years however the past few months have had disappointing experiences. Booked over the phone the day before for breakfast in January only to show up to a closed pub & told they no longer do breakfast.

Was excited to go back today for brunch but really disappointed again. We were one of the first tables to order but waited 30 minutes for a cup of tea and 50 minutes for food. The only reason given was there was only 1 chef on which we were only told after I followed up after 40 minutes. The food was good in the end but $18 for 2 pancakes is ridiculous.

This used to be my favourite place for breakfast on Sunday. I will never go there again. Very poor menu. Toast is extra when you order a breakfast. No options have bacon. It used to be packed, this morning only two tables occupied, and only one after my group left to have a decent breakfast elsewhere (with toast included). Sad.

A pub with character. You don't get to say that often these days. The food is delicious with a good variety and options for dietary requirements. Excellent vibe with friendly staff. Can sometimes be very noisy in the dining areas due to the lack of soft furnishings.

Good place to drink and eat. However, the food prices are very expensive. There are car parks but they're limited. Side street car parks are timed.

What a great little pub. Such a nicely decorated interior and great atmosphere!

Prices are a little bit on the pricier side but food quality is really great and the customer service is very good too.
Highly recommend

I'm disappointed.
The Colonist used to be me and my family's favourite place, because of the absolutely amazing prawn crab linguine! But since the menu has changed, the dish has been completely ruined. The dish was the best seafood linguine I have ever had, the chef is still great, but the new menu is subpar.
I hope the new owners take this into consideration, as I know many people who also agree with this review, it would be great to see the menu changed back.

Firstly this rating is base completely on the Food. The atmosphere of the pub itself is quite nice and there was nothing wrong with the beer. Unfortunately the food was probably one of the worst meals I had in Adelaide. My Wagyu beef burger was so overcooked it wasn't funny. Bun was dry fries were uncooked almost see through. My friend's chicken schnitzel was also way cooked. There was pretty much nothing right with either of these meals . The fact they were 25 and $30 each it was really disappointing that they don't have their quality up to standard

We ordered the steak and the chicken burger which were both amazing!! Steak was cooked to perfection and the chicken burger was very tasty!! Would recommend this venue to anyone in Adelaide. Fast service, very friendly staff and overall an amazing night. Cheers Colonist, will see you again soon.

We hosted my father's wake at The Colonist last year, as it was a sentimental spot for us, and I couldn't recommend them enough! All the staff were so helpful, kind and professional, and the it was such a lovely way to commemorate and celebrate. Thanks so much for hosting us! Oh and your weekend breakfast is fantastic ?? Keep up the good work!

Very busy on a Friday evening got sat outside. A bit chilly no heaters on. Food was well cooked and the chicken schnitzels and chicken parmigana were very tasty. The grilled fish was cooked well and the salad was fresh.

Nice pub, nice indoor/outdoor area with fireplace. A bit sad that a Hahn super dry with a splash of lemonade (shandy) was $10 during happy hour! When tap pints were $4 .... I have never thought of Shandys as being a cocktail before :(

It was rather cold. Food was fairly good reasonable size. Not a lot of options. So so aesthetically

Taste of Australia event-
The chef did an outstanding job with the seafood theme right down to the flowers etc - the paired wines were brilliant
But the noise in the back room was terrible you couldn't hear the person talking to you across the table - some people in that room had no respect for others including the food !
We will be back to try this chefs other wonderful morsels
