New chef, great tasting food, getting used to a new kitchen, so give him a chance as I'm sure service will speed up once his new team settle in! The attention to detail is second to none! Chef and his friendly team have thrown 0ut all the manufacturered plastic foodstuff that probably came from China, and is now cooking with fresh local ingredients from the local farms and suppliers, supporting local business and employment! Menu will be seasonal, hopefully the locals will appreciate him giving back to his community by providing food that connects Crookwell to the plate and his experience in fine dinning fusing your local favourites but next level! Stop in, speak to Debbie the attentive and friendly publican, book a table, buy a beer, whiskey or a great bottle of wine whilst you wait. I'm sure you will agree, and if you don't, go home and throw together something that is satisfying but not causing your taste buds to explode with flavour and texture! Review from a city bloke whom grew up in the country on meat and 3 veg! Appreciate that changes can be hard to adjust to!

Really rundown hotel room upstairs. The room was clean but very basic. Bed far too soft and uncomfortable - the slats supporting the mattress have fallen on the floor. Needs maintenance.

The guest kitchen and the bathroom are disgusting. Very old and in poor condition. No lock on the bathroom door, hence no privacy when using the shower and toilet.

The $60 tarrif is high, given the very poor standard of The facilities.

The food in the dining room was surprisingly good. It is the one bright spot.

It seems like management have given up.

My partner and I stopped in for lunch today. It was our second visit and after a nice first meal and experience we decided to stop in again today.
To say we were disappointed would be an understatement.
On ordering our meals the kitchen and wait staff were too busy discussing their private lives while I waited to be served.
Our meals were substandard with almost everything being room temperature. Vegetables were cold and hard and my mixed grill was certainly not grilled but rather all deep-fried.
We love visiting all the old small towns and giving them our money but after today we will definitely not be back, nor recommend this to anyone we know. A real shame Crookwell Hotel, a real shame!

It really is a shame that the staff's poor handling of a payment issue, and resulting mishandling of my food, caused what would have been a 5-star review to drop to a 1-star review. I ordered a Deluxe Burger and fries for take away for 15 minutes later, as my wife and I had to take some frozen shopping home. We came back 15 minutes later, only to find there was a payment issue with their EFTPOS machine.

These things happen, however as they tried and failed to resolve the payment issue, my food was just left on the counter to cool, with no effort to keep it warm. After a good 15 minutes of trying to fix the payment issue, the woman who served us asked us to use their ATM in the pub section to withdraw the money, which we wound up doing. When I arrived home a few minutes later, I went to eat my burger and chips and they were cold!

The frustrating part is that the chips were nice and crispy and the flavours on the burger were great, however they were nowhere near as great as they would have been, if my meal was still hot.

I don't mind paying $18 for a burger and chips when the food tastes good and is at least hot. However paying $18 for a cold burger and chips, simply isn't good enough!

The new management continue to explore and improve during what has been a tough 3 to 4 years.

They have a new menu and so I tried the grilled salmon with the mash and veggies option.

I enjoyed everything on the plate. The simple green beens, broccolini, carrot, corn cob and mash were all cooked nicely but still crisp and juicy. The salmon was great. Veg portions could have been just a little bigger.

Compliments to the chefs. My meal arrived after about 15 minutes, even though I was behind a large group ordering.

The Chef Roger has transformed the bistro, offering different food to a normal pub bistro. What sets this place apart from others in town is the different menu options. There are a number of gluten free options available including chicken schnitzel with gluten free chips and sauce. And now they offer their amazing pizzas also on gluten free bases - and the gluten free bases are delicious and best in town! Tania is always pleasant and accommodating of dietary requirements. We eat here regularly and have not had a bad meal.

We have had great tasting meals and service at the Top Pub before, when we visited my parents in Crookwell. So my Dad suggest that my new wife and I have our wedding reception there, in their function room.
Roger and Tania went far far beyond the call of duty to accommodate and ensure we have the best time possible. Tania's decorations were very beautiful and perfect for the occasion, while Roger and his kitchen team provided exceptional food. Very tasty and well presented! I highly recommend you have your next function at the Crookwell Top Pub

Today we dropped in on a day trip to Crookwell to have lunch to be so blown away by the menu full of yummy sounding meals with lots of native ingredients . We had the polenta fries with thyme and mayo for entree, my hubby had a Possum burger and i had a chicken and gravy roll. The meals were large and well priced. The staff are just lovely and the chef was so passionate about his indigenous background and using native ingredients that i could have spoke to him all day about this. We only stopped talking as another customer approached and thanked him for her delicious meal and was also interested in the ingredients. Highly recommend this little cafe off the pub. We also got take away pies for home, one was a Crocodile pie the other one an emu pie. Will definitely be going back . Well done in a small town to have such a love of cooking great and different food.

Room was clean, but very shabby. Had to climb up grubby, awful stairs to 2nd floor. Motel section is in back yard of Hotel which is unkept with weeds, a couple of dead cars, old pots, and the rubbish bins. Suitable for workmen only .

We paid $130 for one night just after Easter . It was horrendous. No proper window to the outside world, disgusting carpet , mould smell, giant blow fly buzzing around. Of course the pub closed for the evening just after we checked in and there was no one to contact. The floor in the bathroom was wet when we got there hmmmmm...later we realised why. There was a crack in the bathroom ceiling with liquid dripping from it! How disgusting. Definitely would not recommend.

Ok Pub and Restaurant fine, nice staff nice food and beer reasonable price and quality..... BUT the rooms in the motel are disgraceful. For $120 you get a dirty bathroom NO television in the room and no heating... abysmal.

Sure drink and eat at the pub but give the motel section a wide berth.

'Motel' style rooms are windowless, paper thin walls and lacking basic things like a hand towels. If you would like to pay $120 for the pleasure of this then knock yourself out, otherwise stay at the Uplands Pastures Motel. On the plus side, super convenient location for this lovely town, clean (enough), electric blankets and hot, powerful shower.

Would we stay there again? Only if they could drop the price, provide hand towels and a few hooks to hang towels on.

We stay on lots of motels when travelling on motorbikes and this is officially the worst value one we've stayed in. Sorry, you need to do better.
