The Gaso is a well known venue amongst Melbourne locals, hosting live music and DJ events across two levels it's certainly never dull. The staff are always welcoming and friendly and you can still get a pint or a shot at reasonable price. The kitchen offers a great assortment of Gluten Free foods!

If you want a real downer of a night then the Gaso is for you. A friend and I thought we'd catch some live music on a Sunday night 2 weeks ago. We bought a drink and listened to a couple of songs generously applauding. Obviously the band was heavily miked up and very loud as one would expect in a live music venue.
We started to have a chat & literally a few seconds in were told by the "owner" to be quiet, no talking allowed.
What a joke.
I've been in the music scene for 45 years and I've seen a lot go down in noisy pubs, but NEVER have I been told I couldn't have a conversation.
No wonder there were only 7 people there.
The Gestapo has obviously not gone away, Dan Andrews would be proud.

I was at an event on the 5/5/24 andHarley the bar tender end up serving me all time I went up and she was so lovely, made me feel so welcome and non judgmental about anything!! I would 100% go back just to be served by her every time regardless of what music played. Deserves a raise!!!

Quite a small venue for gigs, second floor doesn't have air conditioning or fans.. seriously hot in humid weather

Attended a queer event upon arrival didn't seem queer welcoming.Made the mistake of going early for food and listening to heavy rock music in the background. Once the event started the venue did become a safe queer space

We came to see Jacqui Lumsden and I have to say this is the coolest small-mid venue I've ever seen live music at!!! The whole ceiling opens up so you are standing there watching great musicians under the stars!!

The bartenders are on fire. So fast, super attentive, great recommendations. We didn't eat food, but the drinks were solid. Looks like they have great bands coming through pretty often and it would be worth it even if you didn't know the band was going to be good like we did!!
