Greenhouse Tavern, Coffs Harbour NSW

The food was middle of the road at best.
I had the bangers with mash, my wife had the lamb shank with mash.
And the kids had steak and chips as well as cheesy garlic bread.
My big issue was with the mash on both dishes, It tasted old and reheated. It was lumpy and just not enjoyable.
The other issue was with the red wine gravy on the lamb shank, it was bitter and tasted like it came out of a packet. The bangers, I couldn't tell whether they were pork or beef, very little taste to them. The kids enjoyed their meals.

Food was alright, had the steak sandwich and for some reason the bread was really tough but it was still a good sandwich. The other meals were battered barramundi and green aussie burger, they were also pretty good and filling. The salad dressing and aoli were good according to the others.

A very unique pub, soaked in history and nostalgia. There is a boat in the bar (literally hanging from the ceiling) that circumnavigated Australia. Bar has energy and the bar staff were super friendly. TAB and plenty of screens for those that like to punt. Has the feel of a really good local pub 🍻

Hubby enjoyed his rump steak and chips on the counter lunch menu but I thought the $3 extra for a tiny bowl of pepper sauce was a bit much. I had the chicken schnitzel, chips and salad. I didn't eat much of the chicken schnitzel because it tasted fishy, chips were nice, salad had way too much onion.

Can understand why families would come and enjoy the place but all we wanted was some cold ones and nibbles.
We were welcomed with friendly smiles and greetings but that's where it all ended.
Have good selection of beer and ciders on tap. Also ordered hot chips and cheesy bread...I'll let the photo of the cheesy bread speak for itself and you come to your own conclusion.
We ate around the hair as we didn't want to create a fuss and only said something at the end. I showed and gave the hair affected bread to one of the waitresses who was clearing our glasses and said "please let the chef know about this" and she just had a shocked face and left. No ''sorry" or anything. Maybe it happens all the time. Seems like it by the attitude of the waitress. Finished our drinks and nobody cared or came out to acknowledge the gross hair.
Btw I wouldn't have left this negative feedback if someone had come out to apologise and acknowledged the poor food practice. Hair in food is a big NO-NO. But sometimes it happens...but nope; got nothing and it just shows how poorly managed the place is.
Maybe I should have thrown a fit?
Would definitely not recommend or be back.
