During a recent trip to Tassie with a friend, we stumbled upon the charming town of Oatlands and decided to have lunch at the local pub, The Kentish. It was so good, we ended up going back twice! The food was absolutely incredible, and we even went out of our way on the return trip just to enjoy another round of their delicious arancini balls and cheeseburger spring rolls. Both were bursting with flavour and unlike anything we expected from a pub menu!
What really sets The Kentish apart is its wonderful and unexpected fusion of cuisines. We were thrilled to find Asian-inspired dishes like the pork bao buns and the Massaman lamb shank. Each dish was perfectly executed, and the blend of flavours was a delightful surprise.
The decor is a beautiful mix of old-world charm and modern style, creating a cozy yet vibrant atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home. It's the kind of place where you can easily settle in for hours and enjoy the relaxed, welcoming vibe. We're already planning to come back and experience a weekend there while the garden is open with live music - it sounds like the perfect spot to unwind! We had a sneak at the accommodation too and they are beautifully styled for a weekend away in comfort. Will have to try them next time.
Overall, The Kentish is an absolute gem in Oatlands, and I can't recommend it enough. Whether you're passing through or looking for a reason to go out of your way, this pub is worth the visit. 10/10 would definitely go back!
