We had a wonderful time Tuesday for my husband's birthday dinner.
The Taco Tuesday menu was delicious as were the Spicy Margaritas.
The staff were all so friendly and took excellent care of us.

Due to family obligations, we hadn't been to The Mallow for a while, so spending a couple of hours there on Saturday night was a real joy. The service was as friendly as ever, the food and beers as delicious as ever. Another plus about The Mallow is that their prices are super reasonable, too. Can't wait to go back!

Really nice experience at The Mallow. Nice pub with friendly staff, great range of beers, and the food was great too. It felt cosy and relaxed. We may have found our new regular.

Not bad at all. Friendly staff, awesone selection of beers and great atmosphere. The barkeep Garth was friendly and engaging as was the serving staff. Been here a few times, definately will be returning.

The Mallow is comfortable, and uses all its different rooms really well. We went for the Harry Potter Trivia night (kudos to all those involved in running this!) and had our meal in the lounge, which had wonderful Chesterfield sofas and armchairs and an open fire - plus games and books if desired. We enjoyed our food too. Definitely plan to go back!

This craft beer pub was and amazing stop on the way to Melbourne. Definitely coming back here again and staying longer. Their food was amazing definitely recommend their big mac pac burger with macaroni cheese in it.

Service was bad, food was worse.
Have been here several times but recently it's just gone really down hill in the dining area. We're greeted by friendly staff who then disappeared and wouldn't stop chatting amongst themselves, as we tried to get service (the only table in the dining room).
5 people for lunch, meals came out in twos a few minutes apart, except for the vegetable soup (if you could call it that) which came out 5-10 minutes after everyone else's meals (which were already only lukewarm and had to be started). We actually had to ask if they'd forgotten and it came out shortly after.
There was cold beetroot on top of the pumpkin pizza (which tasted like it had just come out of a can and been placed on top) and the pizza was essentially pumpkin purée on bread, which was so cold that the grated cheese garnish on top wasn't even slightly melted.
There were a lot of flies everywhere in the dining room further making it an unpleasant experience.
We shared our meals with the woman that ordered the soup as the soup wasn't edible, tasted like salty dishwater and looked like someone had grabbed a can or dry sachet of soup and stick blended it with salt.
We shouldn't have paid for any of the horrible meals but only asked for the soup to be refunded but were given a $3 credit only, as that's all the staff member was authorised to do and he would get anyone else.
Wouldn't recommend and won't be returning there again, much much better places for eating throughout Ballarat.

Hadn't been here before but it had come up in Google searches as a good place to go so decided to check it out. Glad we did! A unique bar with a unique menu. It was a fun place with good service and we enjoyed the food. They were even setting up a cinema out the back in the beer garden when we were leaving. Might have to book a movie night next time.

I never give 5 stars to anything as nothing is perfect but if I could give a ranking up to 5 it would be a solid 4.8 :)

Garth was a fantastic host, food was exceptional and the beers on tap were broad for everyone's taste.

IMHO, The best pub in town. Staff are awesome, and nothing is too much trouble. BBQ and beer selection is to die for.

My wife and I are great fans of The Mallow. It's one of the friendliest venues we've been to anywhere, with delicious and creative meals served promptly even when the place is busy and a great selection of beers both on tap or sold by can from the fridge.

Delicious food. Warm and friendly atmosphere in the dining room by the fire and lovely staff. Incredible selection of Independent Craft Beer on Tap! Well worth visiting if you are ever in Ballarat for work, life or leisure.

13 of us were visiting Ballarat. We booked a table for lunch. The reviews were good & we were not disappointed! The menu is great, they happily cater for folks that have food intolerances! 4 of us ate the Mallow burger! Lol! I had the GF version. Yum! The staff made us feel very welcome. We left feeling fed, watered & happy. Thank you guys!

This is a cracking little gastro-pub in Ballarat. Food was excellent and quickly delivered to our party of 10. The beer selection for a small place was excellent, with not a mass-produced lager in sight. If this was my local, I wouldn't be anywhere else

I remember going here 5-10 years ago and it was a great place to get a solid pub meal however things have changed - The food has really gone down-hill in particular the portions. I had a lamb pizza ($35) and it was so small and quality sub-par compared to similar restaurants. It didn't fill me up at all.

On a different note, I do note the great selection of beers which are mostly local (which is awesome).

I recognise costs of running a pub are high and recent pandemic may have placed unexpected financial pressures however even with that - I was disappointed. I love supporting local pubs and would come here for a beer only.

Had a lovely meal at The Mallow the other day. I'm vegan and loved that they had a number of dishes I could enjoy and that their sauces are all vegan. The service was fantastic and their wine and beer selection is excellent!

Fantastic local pub. What a range of tasty brews on tap! Be sure to visit regularly as they are always changing. Sit and enjoy the great food along with your brew.

Wow! This place is incredible. Excellent customer service, friendly staff, and great atmosphere. The menu has something for everyone. For those who love low 'n' slow bbq, visiting The Mallow is a must. We have now tried quite a few things from pitmaster and standard menu and everytime it has been unbelievably amazing. They also have a great range of beer which we are slowly working our way through. It's a place that we are excited to recommend to everyone and one that we will continue coming back to!

Delicious quality food! We tried the confit duck paper rolls, smoked porter house steak, the smoked beef cheek and the peanut butter cheese cake as a special. Everything was amazing, will definitely be back. The kitchen team are killing it.

We got in early before the rush and had dinner. As a family we had the kid's gnocchi, gnocchi and mushrooms, Beef Ragu and everyone was impressed. Normally with gnocchi I feel like it wasn't enough this was perfect and super fresh. Great selection of beers on tap. I have to say there was a lady on front of house that was amazing and totally made the night with the rest of the staff. Great place to go but do book before hand otherwise get there at 5pm

Happy to return to the best pub in Ballarat, with new owners the future is looking bright once again. I was quite impressed with the smoked cheeseburger. Quick friendly service!

It was great to re-visit The Mallow after 3 years. Wonderful to catch up with host Dallas again and to show my overseas visitor by far the best pub in Ballarat. As always great food and atmosphere.

They have a great selection of beer, but the southern fried chicken burger was a huge disappointment. The chicken in the burger was like some frozen pre-made thing, not succulent at all, and quite bland. The bun was not too good either. It looked and tasted like some cheap supermarket bread. The burger came with chips, which did not come with any aioli or any sauce. The worst meal I have had there and definitely not worth $27. You're better off with a Carl's Jr burger.
The person who cooked the burger should ask themselves if they would be happy paying $27 for what they dished up.

Came here because of reviews for dinner and was very disappointed. I had the lamb souvlaki that came with the smallest amount of meat and 1 & half tomatoes in the bowl to fill it up. The chicken Parma was tiny with a hand full of chips but good tasting and the mushroom risotto was nice. Definitely not the place to come if your hungry! Expensive for pub food! Great beers on tap. The staff were very friendly and made the experience nice.

Although they had run out of steak and beef cheeks, the food was delicious. Good value for money and very tasty. Kids meals were a good portion in size and again value for money. The open souvlaki was very good as was the Parma. Good selection of beers from micro breweries and bigger breweries. Very helpful and friendly staff.

My wife and I had a great meal at the Mallow. The service was fast and friendly and a perfect little small town, old style pub. With the right amount of old and new. This was our second time there and will be definitely going back.

Always a fantastic place for a feed, with a delicious food at reasonable prices, and a regularly changing specials menu. If you like trying new beers, they've got you covered, with a rotating selection on tap from a wide variety of brewers. Trivia nights on Wednesdays are always fun & entertaining.

Great beer and food! Simple menu which covers all bases but he something for everyone. Specials board is always a surprise!

Very eclectic selection of beer and the food is excellent. The Christmas Trivia night was fun. The barman with the beard was grumpy when I asked for a taste of the beers. After all, there were so many new ones. This spoilt my night a bit, but the other staff gave me a taste when he was not looking.

Really good find on my night in Ballarat. Really nice feed, good range of beers on tap and in the fridge and exceptional service. I would not hesitate to return.

Great atmosphere as well as delicious food and tasty beer. Many options for vegetarians who want a comforting pub meal but also want something a bit different from the mains you're used to being offered as a non-meat eater. Plenty of craft beers to choose from and great, welcoming, and funny staff who don't even mind if you happen to want to see how many of you can do the worm. We will definitely be back!
