Metung Hotel - Pub in Metung Victoria

Extremely rude and immature 'bar manager' sarcastically waving and pulling faces when she thought I was caught up in her local politics.
Male staff member in restaurant also extremely rude attempting to deny that we had a restaurant booking. Was pissed when he realised we did in fact have a reservation. Food was excellent, not exactly pub food though, pricey and restaurant like. Have NEVER been treated so poorly by staff anywhere EVER, was super weird!

Great place for dinner and/or drinks. Old style pub with a great view over marina, pet friendly, with kids lawn.
A bit on a pricey side, but the food is of restaurant level. We had calamari and barramundi (on photo) and I hope I'll learn how to cook it like this one day :)
The only thing I'd like to see improved is tap beers range, maybe get some local microbreweries onboard?
It gets rather busy there even on weekdays, so better book a table.

What a great find. Right on the water, dog friendly outdoor area. Staff were so friendly and amazing. Food was great. I would highly recommend coming here either for a sneaky drink or a bite to eat.

We liked the menu so much we went back three times to try different meals! Highly recommend booking to make sure you get a table on Friday or Saturday night. I enjoyed my whole grilled flounder and Caesar salad and my husband enjoyed the prawn spaghetti. The seafood taster entree was very good. Sailors Grave beer on tap for the craft beer lovers.

We booked our dinner a week in advanced (though it says no guarantee of best table, but still we were place at a very nice spot just next to the window looking out the jetty) and when we arrived at 6pm on 9.06.2024, there was a long queue waiting to be seated, but moving very fast. Within minutes we were point to our table, with a nice view. It was a full house!
My wife queued up to order our food, and was told an hour wait. I grabbed a glass of red with very reasonable price, for almost a full glass!
We waited not long before our entree calamari arrived hot with dipping sauce. It was very well done, big pieces, nothing to fault. not long we finished our entree, our foods arrived - definitely less than an hour!
The lamb shoulder was a bit dry, will be nicer with more sauce on top, it's a big portion though. The seafoods chowder was fantastic - just creamy, not too salty, with lots of seafoods, and a big bowl it was! One thing special about the seafood chowder that I have not found at other places was that some type of fish roe in it, which made it really nice. It just added that extra texture and taste.
Overall, for a hotel standard, it is very worth the money, the service was friendly, though there are lots of people, and do book in advance before going.
