The Mitre Tavern

What a cool vibe. We arrived early for our Steak House dinner and the staff were brilliant, finding us a table downstairs in the bistro first and making sure we got drinks. Upstairs at the Steak house was next level! It was more than we expected. The staff were absolutely brilliant and the service was exceptional. Although there's not many vege options (it is a steak house to be fair), the gnocchi was ok (best mate loved it). The boys shared a Butcher's Block and had heaps of meat cooked to perfection. The Affrogato for dessert was yum. Overall, a great venue.

A little hidden gem down a side street in Melbourne in the financial area. Hundreds get here for Fri night drinks and in the hot weather this place is rocking and has a great vibe. The place is packed and it's work to get a drink at the bar but hey adds to the atmosphere of being here. What I love is that the pub has been here for a long time with the modern buildings up around it but it still retains is ambience. It gas an old English feel to it I intentionally. It even has low doors and passage ways so mind yr head. It has down stairs dining and a steak house upstairs with different menu. Down stairs has standard pub fare, good selection, honest sized portions, reasonably priced and goid taste. Even though yhe pub was packed to the brim staff slotted us into a two seat so long as we were gone before the table booking time so appreciate that extra effort. Thanks guys...Pommy beers on tab, great atmosphere but it big draw is the after work vibe. Dig thus place up and if yr nearby and go for a 🚶‍♂️ 🚶‍♀️ and try it out. Won't dissapoint.

We came here our first night in Melbourne and enjoyed this place so much we went again before we left! The chicken parmi was absolutely delicious, the salad had a nice dressing and the gravy was so yummy but also a generous serving which I love. Great selection of drinks with the staff being so kind with amazing service. I highly recommend this place!

1+ hour wait for food. At the 50 minute mark, asked about the food and staff claimed they couldnt find the order. No apologies, no acknowledgement of their screwup. Can take money but not deliver the food. Embarrassing.

Edit: finally got the food, tasted cheap and chewy. Poor quality cheap steaks at premium prices. Won't be back, ever.

We ate here with friends and all of the food was very good. In fact, the steaks were nearly to the quality that we enjoyed in Argentina.
Our only critiques would be that the restaurant, when full, is very noisy, and the service could have been better.
