Soup was nice. Scallops good. However my steak was meant to be medium cooked. It was overcooked. Extremely well done dry and chewy. Could not eat much of it as it was so unpleasant. It was not resolved to my satisfaction. A very minimal discount for a terrible steak.

Food was good, servers could lighten up a bit and provide a bit better customer service, especially up the bar end..

Parmi was frozen not made in house and destroyed with rosemary, steak sandwich all fat and gristle had to pull apart to cut up steak, used to be such good food here, it's all cheap ingredients now very sad

My seafood platter was delicous and my partner loved her roast lamb

Great pub grub. Slightly limited wine menu. Friendly service. If you're in or near Penguin it's location is perfect.

My wife and I dined here for lunch.
On arrival we were greeted by a friendly staff member who set the stage for a wonderful dining experience.
The level of service was on the same level as an expensive high class establishment.
The food was first class, beautifully presented and in abundance.
Unlike so many restaurants these days, which provide a basic dish and an expectation for the diner to purchase additional sides, the main course was generous and a 'complete' meal.
The flavours were balanced and super tasty.
The additional sauce option chosen was mushroom which was out of this world and represented umami at its best.
Perfection personified with amazing sea views in a funky atmosphere.
Brilliant and a must do for any visit to Penguin.
We will definitely be back?

Heard all the good stories about meals, so decided to do lunch ourselves. Sadly didn't even get in the door. Well I did but my husband couldn't. When someone finally came to the counter to serve me (not terribly welcoming) and I asked if there was somewhere for a wheelchair bound person to get in....... The answer "Nah, we aren't wheelchair accessible. Very disappointing

We took our beautiful grandchildren out for lunch & it was amazing all meals were great & the service was also good

Enjoyed lunch at the Neptune Grand Hotel. Service was outstanding, the food was delicious and reasonably priced. Nice venue, check it out if you go to Penguin in Tasmania

We ordered 7 meals and i was really disappointed with the taste and the meals.
We paid nearly 215 for horrible tasting food and pretty poor service. (1 girl was lovely)
The first meal to come out was raw so we asked for it to be cooked longer and by the time it came out, everyone else had finished eating by about 15 minutes abs it was still horrible and didn't get eaten.
A Total waste of money!
I definitely wouldn't be recommending this place or be coming back!

The choice of beer and the choice of menu outstanding. Then when the food arrived it was full of flavour and exceeded all expectations. Well done, amazing just like your beautiful little town of Penguin.

Oh dear! The waiting staff took our booking for 2 for 6pm. We arrived a few minutes before time and were seated. Menus were already on the table and we had bought our
drinks in from the bar. We did notice that there were perhaps 30 people already seated. About 10 minutes later we advised staff we were ready to order. Five minutes after that a waitress came to our table to tell us there would be a considerable delay before our order was taken, as the kitchen was at capacity. I have no doubt that this was so.
My point is why did staff not know the capacity of the kitchen and take bookings for a time slot that is already full? Then the staff member asked was that O K with us? Actually, it wasn't. Because a delay in ordering meant an even longer delay before the meal arrived. We left and went elsewhere.

The garlic bread was amazing.
Meals were tasty and well presented.

Chicken parma, bacon jam, bacon, 3 crumb scallops and 3 prawns in a creamy garlic sauce, salad and chips

Be careful of online booking, no confirmation text/email, only to arrive and be told they are booked out. Very unhappy children, never again

Covered safe, table service and no buses so you have to pick up your own food. This quality of service is sorely missed in this day and age. What more do you really want from the pub!!!

The salt and pepper squid was awful. The batter and chips were all dripping in oil. The batter didn't even stay on the squid. Venue was very noisy but nothing can be done about that I guess

Service was great. Food was pretty good for the local pub. We even got charged $5 for a little bit of side tomato sauce. What a rip off!!

Great food and great service. A special shout out to Chara for making our lunch even more memorable. Even our dog was spoilt.
