hello, I wasn't going to say anything because I thought it was just my experience however others at my table also didnt enjoy their food. My sister made us all a booking for her birthday lunch, Upon arrival everything seemed okay, There was nothing in the little play area for the little ones to play with. Kids meals came out very quickly, The Pluto pup batter was very watery so I took some of it off to give my toddler some of the hot dog which was rubbery. My sister had no garlic in her garlic kieve.Also other members at lunch were unimpressed with the oysters as they were milky. The children became board and started running around they were told to play in the "play area" there's again nothing in there so the kids started yelling loudly (Granted annoying but we were getting our things together to leave) us leaving was delayed a moment as my toddler fell over and cut her lip. Upon that a staff member told us if the toddlers went back that they would have to be quiet (Again we were leaving so this is no issue but a bit hypocritical of the same staff member who joked about pretending they weren't ours having a giggle amongst ourselves). What was meant to be a nice fun outing was honestly not that nice.

Went down to the bar for a drink with my mother today and there was two bar tenders there the guy there was very friendly and had some great suggestions the female there however had some very sarcastic comments and was very rude I got a lemon lime and bitters to drink and when I tried it wasn't right so I took it back up and said it was extremely bitter the female there just said its a lemon lime and bitters its supposed to be bitter what do you expect the male helped me and the issue was that the lemonade had ran out and was substituted with soda water while the guy was fixing this the issue the female said to my mum he tried to stich you up my mother replied it wasn't his fault she than said to my mum in a very condescending way I was having a joke love it was left at that we called the boss and he was also very rude and said not to call complaining about his staff along with a lot more

Went to George Town. It was lunchtime so we found this historic pub.
Bistro service was excellent. Our server today deserves much praise for her attitude towards customers.
Had the Tasmanian Mixed Grill...now I don't have to eat for a week ?. It was both huge and delicious.
Beverages were cold and hit the spot.

Very accommodating to a late booking request, great communication and easy booking over the phone despite patchy reception. Very comfortable bed, easy to use tv and big fluffy towels.
Neighbours were audible through the wall but otherwise a lovely quiet spot!

Great atmosphere, nice motel rooms even better self contained villas.. plenty to see locally and a jetty with great fishing just e minute walk from the bar and with a view that never disappoints what mote could you need. Perhaps a decadent Dessert from the amazing slice and cakes fridge. Get in and find something sweet ?.

Great location . The meals were generous and delicious. The service was classic friendly pub staff. Easy parking and a lovely stroll along the water after dinner. Very nice, we will return.

Decided to take my daughter out for a nice tea, only to wait over an hour for her chicken nuggets, only for me to wait a further 20 minutes and after seeing multiple people who have come in later than us get their food. I've decided enough is enough, and ask for a refund only to be told i cant get a refund for something that's "dished" up. So they offer me to take it home for me to wait a further 10 minutes to take it away. Pathetic and weren't even apologetic, go somewhere else.

Great hospitality and location. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. Great front bar with a roaring fire and friendly locals. Perfect for a 2 night stay,

For such an old historical pub, I'd thought there'd be more memorabilia or history throughout the place. Nice enough, but could be a real attraction with management that has passion.

I stayed the weekend ordered pizza and garlic bread well pizza was better cold the next day the garlic bread was dry no flavour yuk
Then was asked leave key in rm on checkout and instead msging me of any problems they just automatically took money out my account I emailed them asking for photos not reply yet I def won't be staying here again

We arrived to find place packed - always a good sign! Ordered our meals and they were promptly delivered. Huge portions which tasted great. Friendly staff. Good choice of beers on tap and wines

Was looking forward to the fish however so disappointed. Noted lots of the reviews are similar. The building and outlook is wonderful however your restaurant really needs better quality food.

No other people in the restaurant when we ordered lunch, now I know why. The seafood basket was disgusting.... the batter was a bright processed saffron colour oozing with oil, the fish itself was stained yellow, it was slimy & had no flavour, the scallops unfortunately were the same, chips were soggy & cold. All in all the food was unedible. The chief was informed & all we got was " I'm sorry "...... not good enough !!! Would NOT recommend to anyone.

Lovely staff and wonderful huge meals and beautiful views of the Tamar River.

I've always liked the Pier, and it's really got better in the last few years, according to family and it was good back when I lived there and I agree having had lunch with family.

Food was terrible...fish was swimming in fat...chips were almost cold and had no salt...salt shaker was empty...worst fish and chips Ive ever had. We were first to order and it took ages to get the meal. I won't go back there. Yuk..

Lovely food and excellent staff. Very well priced and the spicy pizza is not for the beginners ??...rooms were very comfortable and renovated. Bar was next level with plenty of Tassie whiskeys and gins

It took an hour for the meals to come out and there was only a handful of people there.

They did bring out a bowel of chips because the meals where taking so long, but they were cold. They had obviously been sitting in a cold 'warmer' for ever!

The egg on my burger wasn't cooked on a clean grill. Looked disgusting.

Sauce on beef cheek had zero flavour.

Garlic butter served with steak wouldn't melt because the steak was cold.

Another diner took a meal back to the counter because it was cold in the middle.

A very disappointing experience. Will most definitely be heading to the Grays Hotel for meals from now on.

Didn't see the rooms. Service could have been better with some more staff. The menu good and what I had was excellent (Beef Cheeks).

Went there for lunch and had great meals. Staff were very happy to assist with all our questions. Will definitely go there again.

I can only speak for the room/area I stayed in on the top floor of the main building.

I asked for an extra quiet room if they had one. Well, nothing in this area of the hotel is anywhere near quiet, as you can clearly hear anything and everything going on in the downstairs bar, restaurant and casino. My room was also at the top/landing of the stairs, which are extra noisy.

Room (and the rest of this floor) is extremely dated. Heater is impossible to control, as it goes from barely running to a ramp-up bout of creaking, to full bore jet-engine blowing.

Can clearly, and very loudly hear all the waterworks involved whenever the adjacent room flushes the toilet.

Decent shower, but goes from scalding hot to ice cold with less than 1/10th of 1-degree turn of the cold water control.

Would never, ever stay here again.

Can be noisy, good pub food.

The main rooms have a view across the bay. The upstairs rooms in the hotel proper are just as good and a fraction of the price.

Best Oysters Kilpatrick we've had, the oysters were massive!
Also had the beef cheeks, delicious!!

Stayed in one of the upstairs rooms which has fantastic views of the river. Modern bathroom and comfortable space at reasonable price. Had pizza from the bistro which was delicious. The smoked salmon with caramelised onion, asparagus and sour cream was superb. The antipasto one was also tasty. The public bar has a very cosy log fire burning.

Stay was ok but the food at the hotel was terrible. I ordered an entree and it came out after everyone else's mains. Very disappointed especially as I had ordered before them all.

Amazing food, lovely ambiance, the view of the Tamar River is spectacular and the staffs are very friendly. I highly recommend it.

Just ordered Mediterranean pizza with extra topping.. no extra topping even though we paid for it, no pesto no basil so not worth the money!!
