I've died and gone to heaven.. if you go here you MUST order the pork belly.. it is hands down the best meal I have ever eaten. I was tempted to lick the plate clean. The staff were so friendly and had a chat after our meal. Great atmosphere! Seriously, I will be driving from Bairnsdale to here to eat that meal again.

One of the best regional pubs I have visited. While the service attendant was a little out of it, the food was on point and extensive drinks list. Can't wait to come back!

Great place to stop for a good wholesome feed. Friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere. Kid friendly as well. Even when it's busy it's still a great place to relax. Plenty to explore in the area too!

The food was amazing! We ordered parma and prawns and chorizo pappardelle both are awesome plus the sticky date pudding was very much complimented by my chef wife. The staffs in the kitchen forgot to make one of our orders but once i approached them they were very approachable and managed to prepare our food straight away plus a complementary jug of beer! Definitely recommended! These kind of services should be shared so other restaurants should copy it.

Pretty good, turned up for some food Sunday about 1:30, good atmosphere and view to park and autumn trees.
Ordered and food came pretty quick, but not a huge crowd. Chicken salad was OK. Burger was OK special local sauce over powering and acidic letting it down imo. Chips good, southern style fried cauliflower was excellent, really liked that. Would have that any day over the burger or chicken salad, a must get IMO.

Sunday night dinner, fabulous meals all round! Yrs of history here my late Fathers cousin owned this place & Dad used to work the bar (80's) & now all renovated... dog friendly too! very impressed guys well done ?
Pretty disappointed considering a lot of people recommend this place. Definitely overpriced for what you get. Service wasn't great and not too friendly with no communication what so ever. Food was below average. Our fish and chips didn't look like the plate that came out for another table as there plate was well cooked and fuller. Ours was very under done and not very nice.

Save your money. Money is basically good these days.

Had one of the best parmi's last night. I'm a very fussy with parmi's, it's a simple meal but so many pubs get it so wrong. Would recommend 110%. Really friendly staff, great meals and portion sizes. Only down fall is the bistro is a bit squishy.

Looks great and nice location across from the Ovens River. Overpriced if you want to purchase take away alcohol better to go into Bright for that. Have had a meal here and found it not cooked to my liking and not as described on menu so haven't had another meal here.

As a semi regular over many long years I had recommended the Punkah pub to our large party celebrating a 50th birthday. We had 25 guest with most travellers coming from interstates).
I had booked months in advance and was informed we would have our dinner in a private room. Upon arrival, my daughters were told that the table setting had been requested as children on 1, women another, men on the 3rd. This was a lie and the first disappointment for the night.
We also did not have a private room but were placed at the rear of the dining area.
All diners except 3 (2 salmon, 1 curry) were not happy with their meals as they were tasteless, overcooked, or cold when served.
1 patron even had to remind staff of his meal 20 minutes after everyone else had theirs, and then go and collect it himself.
We had expected to enjoy our evening there but walked away unsatisfied.

Terrible service all around and I will not return nor recommend the Punkah pub to anyone ever again.

What a gem. Cosy beer garden with heaters next to almost every table was a dogs are welcome section. This with great service, great variety on menu, amazing food was an enjoyable evening. Well done ??'?

Visitors from Melbourne and this place was recommended to us for dinner.
Not disappointed but important to book a table.
Staff lovely,atmosphere warm and comfortable.
Meals a good size, good value and tasty.
The calamari and salmon beautiful.
The ginger dumplings yum.
Lots of wine and beer varieties.
Well worth a visit.

We LOVED this gem of place nestled quietly beside the river. The food and service were fantastic. We first came in on a very busy night but the wait for the food was worth it while we enjoyed drinks from the bar. Our second visit on our short stay in the area we arrived early (before the rush) and got to know the staff and their suggestions of what to see in the area as well as the very interesting history of the pub and its gorgeous rebuild. Look forward to visiting this place again next time we are in the area.

Great pub with beautiful setting and super friendly staff. Meals are generally very good but the Thai Beef salad was like the beef got dropped on (and over cooked) after the salad was made and lacked any integration with the dish. The polenta chips were delicious but $16 a bit steep for a side dish. Beers were a good range but would like less commercial stuff and more true craft.

This pub is a find! Delicious food, great beer garden and games room was a hit with the kids.
I have to comment on the bathroom cause I was blown away by the decore.
The toilets are really clean with care taken to turn the bathroom into a work of art. Says a lot about the place, in general.

We love the punkah pub on many occasion. Lunch near New Years had a great vibe, food was fast and filling despite moderate portions. The atmosphere is what makes it though, and the friendly and efficient staff on point. Such a country but cool setting!

The venue is great with lots of natural light. Great outside area especially on warm days. No complaints about the food, the gnocchi was really nice.

Our first meal at the Punk pub tonight.
We were very impressed.
From the moment we walked in we felt a relaxing atmosphere and great ambience.
The meals were tasty and good value.
The staff were so friendly. The lovely Karli and the friendly lady serving drinks were a delight.
We are here for approx 6 months and this will be our new local.
Well done Punka pub.xx
Far more than a typical 'country pub'. With the urban rustic vibe and large glass doors across the front that open up on warmer days, the venue feels more like an inner Melbourne restaurant.

The food was AMAZING, the staff were lovely and they provided colouring sheets/pencils for the children.

The venue can easily accommodate larger groups, however during peek times you will need to book a few days ahead.

We have heard the meals can take up to 45 minutes to arrive, however despite being school holidays and the venue being full, our meals only took 20 minutes.

Thank you for your hospitality. We will certainly be back!

Cool spot, good beer and reasonable prices for drinks. Food prices are over the top though, not sure how elderly locals afford coming here. When it gets busy you could be waiting around 1 hour for food so bookings during busy periods are a must. The staff is the key of this place. Everyone here is friendly and efficient. Keep it up!

Good food, good beers like any good pub! Nice interior, friendly staff. Would go back again:)

What a gorgeous little pub. Did not expect such a nice looking pub like this. Also love the glass floor with a view below to the wine cellar. Great selection of delicious beers and the food was great. Definitely on my list of places to go back to next time I'm in town.

Nice spot with gorgeous mountain views. Didn't try the food but it looks like a good selection. Only drawback was the $15 a glass sparkling white. Would've been nice to have a couple of different options. Other than that, a good place.

This place is amazing!! The staff went above and beyond for us and I cannot thank them enough!! They were so wonderful, nice and caring!! Being able to take our dog with us was so special and we had the best night!! Food was also super delicious and so were the drinks!! 10/10!!

Lovely food, but no half serves. I'm elderly and no way can I eat a $35 meal. I'd waste so much. But lovely people, serving you. So friendly and welcoming. 1st time I've been there. Also very relaxing atmosphere. Just need to serve up half serves please

I went for a "pub meal". It was lunch time; to enjoy a steak (with veg.), that was perfectly cooked with delightful texture and flavour. Great views of the hills and Mount Buffalo, the beautiful colours of autumn and the architecture with landscape features of the park opposite, all added to the occasion. The staff were friendly. There were interesting photographs of the hotel's history in one of the dining areas. Quirky appreciation goes, to the most striking features of the toilets. There was a wall fish tank and special photo-art wall! ??
