What an amazing place this is. Adelaide's little hidden secret. The entire pub is seriously amazing; cozy, relaxed atmosphere and with lots of charm. Fire place and just really delightful. Staff are really pleasant, always with a smile.

I had never been here before but will definitely be going back. Such a lovely cosy atmosphere with open fires and lighting adding to the ambience. The food was impeccable. I had the most incredible squid which was so tender and light. The service was fantastic, full of fun and bouncing off our group with quick wit! Gorgeous place

What a wonderful experience! The occasion was lunch for 3 friends who hadn't caught up for some months! Our food was simply delicious, the total table service so rare but so enjoyable, the food and wine menus both extensive and varied catering for every taste. Then the venue, historical and perfectly maintained, reminding one of a bygone era! Thoroughly recommend a visit .. I'll certainly be back!

Very nice pub for a cold winters night. Open fire a handful of tables in the dining room.
Elegant menu, standard rules apply order your protein choice, then order the sides of your choice. Not a cheap endeavour but it will be good quality cooked well. Great for couples or small groups say 4 people. The space is intimate, not somewhere for noisy crowds.

Delicious dinner, good wine, silver service and a very enjoyable drink with the owners by the fireplace. I highly recommend The Rising Sun Inn

Family-home-like restorant with chill-out atmosphere. No rush and stress around at all, everyone are reserved and friendly just like at an ordinary quiet Sunday lunch. Enough items on the menu and cooked freshly in a timely manner. Food are delicious and tasty, the bottle of wine recommended was absolutely the best I had in recent year! Dessert ordered was plenty and nice. Both the food and wine experience was outstanding with the professional service are remarkable. We will return soon! I only can recommend it strongly for those who appreciate the little history of the town and want to celebrate the fine cuisine as it should be!

Ok, so things did not go according to plan tonight, but the way staff dealt with the issues was exemplary, and that is why they get 5 stars all round.
Firstly, it was really busy. Our entree came out ok but it was over an hour before our mains made an appearance. We were kept in the loop, apologies were made, and we received a free glass of wine each and 20% off the total bill.
We get that things go wrong sometimes... It's the way that is handled that is important. The food was delicious and the service excellent. We will definitely be back.

High prices for very average food, teeny tiny portions ,medium rare steak Apparently this is a 200g serve
Sorry was not what was on my plate and YES that was the serve of very over cooked steak next to a quarter of tomato A $50 steak,
Hmmm!
The inconsistencies around the table were vast ,from the serving sizes to the doneness of the meat ranging from almost blue to so well done it was grey
Panna cotta while the flavour was lovely ,not a wobble to be seen, such a firm texture was able to cut with a knife
Entrees were tasty ,but the dry slaw was unappealing
A lot of inconsistencies with the set menu when asked where the potatoes were was given the answer that was a mistake & shouldnt have been on the menu Hmmm!
So so disappointed had heard such great reviews and was really looking forward to the evening ,alas not tonight ,wont be back

It's a lovely old fashioned pub. Cosy and warm atmosphere. Easy to chat and not too noisy. Two fireplaces are lit during this winter night. I found the food average, it seemed to lack flavour. Could be a lot better considering how expensive some of the dishes are. The wine list is quite good. Overall a memorable evening.

A hidden gem outside the city. As you walk up you don't notice it till you are right in front of the door. Inside has such a warm and welcoming feeling. The food is unique and tasty and the waiter we had was amazing. Looking forward to going again.

Lovely ambience; great service: great menu...entrees were delicious but main meals whilst tastie a bit overcooked. Eclectic art work on display - didn't feel any desire to purchase.

Fair price. Intimate setting. Menu stuck in the 80s. Ditch complex damper for simple wholesome bead and quality organic olive oil. Reduce meat portions. Pear salad great. Wines of quality and appropriately paired with menu choices. Staff clearly well chosen for experience and expertise.

Disappointing food and service. Ordered take away from here and not only did they get the order wrong and not make one of the meals, the guy kept arguing with me that I got it wrong. (probably the same "Grumpy Manager" the other reviews speak of. NOT the way to treat locals! Who often order from you.
$48 for this measly piece of fish that didn't even taste nice... very disappointing, especially considering we supported them through the entire lockdown last year.
Do yourselves a favour and go to Paul's on the Parade, you could probably get triple the amount of food for this price and it would taste a lot better too.

Every dish was delicious. We had a lovely waitress who was very friendly. Another waiter was not so friendly. Would consider going back because the food was great but didn't feel very welcomed by the waiter, who just put the dishes on the table with a grunt and did not tell us what dish he was placing on front of us, and it wasn't even a busy night. We were only 1 of 2 or 3 tables there. Despite that, we still enjoyed our meal. Food was a bit more on the pricey side, but I could overlook that because each dish was actually very good.
