The Royal Hotel Mornington & Walter's Dining Hall

Firstly I need to say that the food was wonderful. Congratulations to the efficient and amazing kitchen staff. But now it goes down hill. The wait staff were a plenty. But it was like being in a football club with the wait staff hollering and goofing around playing paper rock scissors whilst ignoring customers. We ordered food and drinks from the app at the table. Beautiful food arrived but no drinks. Entrees enjoyed but no drinks. Chased up bar staff twice. Turns out one of the drinks was no longer available but the staff were too busy standing around to let us know. Finally the manager sorted this out as we were about to finish our mains.

Dessert arrived and the waiter asked us where he should put it, as he stared at the now empty plates from both entrees and mains piled up. I suggest he clear the table. Seemed a foreign concept to him. Finally I handed him all the plates.

Staff are more interested in playing paper rock scissors then hospitality. Manager wafted around not making eye contact. Basic training would fix all this.

So the amazing food was let down by the boorish behaviour of untrained staff.

Don't bother.

I had a big group booking at Walter's and the food was delicious. We had to do a set menu as we hard a large group and the amount of food was definitely worth the $65 pp. We also had a variety of dietary requirements and Walter's phoned me a few times to let me know which options they could have. Everyone had a great time. Thank you

Had a wonderful lunch at Walter's Dining Hall yesterday. The food and drinks were beautiful. The waitress was absolutely lovely. Very friendly and knowledgeable about the food and drinks on offer. Attentive without being obtrusive and she looked after us very well during the afternoon. Combination of the lovely food, the nice room decor and the wonderful service we received from our waitress will definitely mean we will be back. Thank you for a very pleasant experience.

On behalf of my family I can't thank the staff enough for their hospitality during a tough time for my family. We held our dad's wake yesterday and even on such short notice, they were more than accommodating and flexible with literally only a days notice! Special mention to Katie who made the process so easy. All staff were so lovely, smiles on their faces and friendly and the chefs put together a delicious spread. Perfect light atmosphere with a great vibe! Thank you all again!

I celebrated my birthday here recently and the table commented on how lovely the food presented and how tasty it was. Wait staff were very attentive too. Made for a very enjoyable day. Thank you!
