I have been visiting on Sunday Lunch for my birthday, along with my family.
The level of courtesy, professionalism and attention to details from Chef John, Chef Jimmy and the Culinary Team together with Bec and the rest of the F&B staff were unforgettable.
I'm giving 5 star as there are no 6 available:)
Hospitality done well and with the aim of creating beautiful memories and emotions through a meal as it should be.

Make sure you for the Feed Me Menu
Looking forward to come back,

What a great find. The Inn is just out of Maclarenvale and hidden behind trees but is very busy even on weekdays. We didn't book but I would recommend you do. There is inside and outside seating. We sat outside where there were only two tables so it was very quiet and restful surrounded by greenery. Our meals were both delicious. My husband had the Salopian Pie and I had the lamb neck. I don't recall eating anything quite as delicious. We ordered a side of hand cut fries. They were crispy and flavourful. I would highly recommend you give this restaurant a try. The staff were so friendly and attentive and happy !

The customer service was top notch and the food was delicious. Quality and fresh food. Went here for lunch and one of the appetizers came after the main course. We were not charged for the appetizer.
The staff always had a smile on their faces and always ready to help. Great experience!

We have been here twice and loved it. The dumplings never disappoints and their menu is seasonal so it keeps changing.

What a beautiful meal at the Salopian. The atmosphere is relaxed welcoming. The service was attentive and friendly. We enjoyed the $90 feed me menu and each bite was more delicious than the last. The wine cellar has an amazing selection to explore and select any special red you'd like. It's an McLaren Vale gem and institution for a reason.

I have eaten some fine food all around the world I am glad to say, however our dinning experience at the Salopian was the absolute best. The service was so friendly, professional and welcoming. The best steak ever, deserts absolutely fabulous. Our waitress was friendly knowledgeable and a pleasure to meet. Location of course is second to none!!!

? Steamed buns with chilli & garlic sauce: and boston bay free range berkshire pork, ginger & hoisin ($8.00)
?? Salopian dumplings: Nomad Farms Chicken & Spencer Gulf prawn, ginger, spring onion, pickled ginger, roasted chilli & coconut dressing and coriander ($25.00)
???'? Charcoal Grilled cape calamari: kohlrabi, pickled green tomatoes, pork fat taramasalata and fried bread ($28.00)

? Kimchi pancake: with szechuan pepper tofu, sesame, watermelon radish and basil mint ($30.00)
?? Cavatelli: with grass fed beef ragu, fennel, fior di latte and roasted ricotta ($38.00)
? Kangarilla T-Bone (650g) steak: with charred onions, chimichurri beef 'butter' and jus ($85.00)
???"? Crispy Kipfler potatoes: with salsa verde and parmesan ($12.00)
???- Kitchen garden salad greens: with mustard vinaigrette ($9.00)

I shared this food between 5 people. I paid $54.00 for my portion!

?? My favourite at Salopian Inn was the Kangarilla T-bone and the crispy kipfler potatoes! Unlike what we were hoping with the Kangarilla steak (a steak cross between a Kangaroo and a Gorilla?!), I believe Kangarilla is a place in SA.
Nonetheless, the medium rare was cooked to perfection and the kipfler potatoes the perfect, crispy, savoury, accompaniment. We demolished the kipfler potatoes SO FAST! ??

??"?? I also adored the charcoal grilled calamari. There's something so delicious and addictive about a calamari cooked perfectly, with a smoky aftertaste that hits the spot every time.? ?

?? Least favourite for us were the steamed buns. I see what they were trying to aim for, but I was looking forward to fluffy white Chinese steam buns. The ones we ate were a little dry and the pork wasn't memorable. ??

??"? Service was very engaging, and the brunette waitress was very bubbly and fun. I appreciated her passion for the food and how everything was local! ??
Definitely adds a special touch knowing the majority of ingredients were home-grown. ???

We had the steak and ribs for lunch, which was beautiful! One of the best steak dish we have ever had! The service and ambience was warm and friendly! To know all their produce was grown locally in their garden makes it extra special, thanks team for the amazing food! Well done

Fabulous atmosphere. Lovely old building. Take a trip to the cellar if you want a bottle of red. Open fire for the winter. Super friendly service. Photos are a bit yellow but it was dim light.

So good, food was all delicious, service was attentive and fast and the actual place is stunning. Stand out for me was the gnocchi, it was light and fluffy and well balanced with the sauce. The pork buns were also amazing, particularly the chilli sauce that went with it. Worth a visit if you are after a nice lunch.

We visited The Salopian Inn on a Friday for lunch. Myself and 5 mates opted for the $90pp feed me menu. What can I say but everything was outstanding. The food was diverse and delicious. The service was prompt and welcoming. Couldn't rate it highly enough. We even got to pick our own wine from the cellar. Must visit!

This was one of the best meals we had by far AND fantastic service. We enjoyed a few apples and shared them between our party. One of our folks is allergic to shellfish and they made some wonderful recommendations to avoid this. Food was absolutely delicious. This is a must try while in the area!
Wonderful place to have a meal. Food is always fresh and innovative. The Feed Me option is superb with many surprises. Staff are excellent. Ahlia, who was our waiter today, was delightful - professional, warm, and a lovely sense of humour. Thank you.

The service was excellent and we enjoyed our meals very much. The location is beautiful. The only thing that was missing was a bit more choice on the menu. Having said that what we ordered was fresh and exceptional.

Delicious meal, friendly service, lovely atmosphere. We had the tasting menu and enjoyed every one of the 12 menu items. Dessert was divine. The view from our window by the open fire place looked out onto vineyards which were stunning in autumn. The only aspect I did not appreciate was the art work which I felt did not suit the country location and feel of the historic building as it was more of a dated modern art but I understand art is personal. I think a consignment from a local artist with perhaps a vineyard theme would be perfect for a beautiful country inn such as the Salopian. Loved the rustic lights. Loved the map of the garden with each course. Would highly recommend.
The menu has a slightly odd mix of Asian inspired dishes and upmarket pub dishes e.g. beef pie. The food was good but not as good as the restaurants reputation would imply. I left a little disappointed because the Asian inspired section in particular didn't have the depth of flavour you would get from a chef steeped in the respective cuisines- it was a little insipid. A pleasant evening but not a wonderful evening of food.

Very enjoyable experience. Good atmosphere, staff were knowledgeable and helpful. We opted for the chef's tasting menu. One of us was allergic to seafood he was very happy for his substitute. Most of the ingredients were organic and cultivated from their own veggie garden. Definitely will call again!

Excellent service by Sarah for our 25th wedding anniversary. Great meals suitable for all dietary requirements. An amazing range of gins along with a substantial wine list. Portions were large, all dishes were tasty and waitpersons were very attentive. Would definitely return & recommend

Never been let down here and weirdly, the best steak I've ever had was part of their feed me menu. Very very impressed. Cheers guys.

Cannot rate this place high enough.
We had the feed me menu, (just left it to the chef). Food that came out was excellent, well presented and flavoursome. Lost of local wines are available also, with a underground wine cellar to go and pick a red. Service was professional and all dishes that came out were explained by the staff. Highly recommend this place, you will need to book.
