Nice atmosphere, for an evening out. Update 14/2/2023: Popped in for a beer and chips, on the way home from town. I must say that these were some of the best I've had in some time. Salted with a Cajun flavour. I would say that there was insufficient sauce for the number of chips, and would like the option of mayonnaise.

I still can't believe I wasted $30 on the "Roast of the day" which a plate of just pure fat. I could just eat a tiny bit of meat and then the vegetables, was obviously still hungry after this. The gravy was also disgusting.
Also, my friend got the carbonara which was over cooked and didn't taste like anything.
Will obviously never be back.

Food was not bery good at all. Among other items ordered, the cabonara was only big enough for a child, cheese balls were overcooked and the shareplate was dismal. A packet of ritz just opened on a plate...... will never eat there again

Fun pub environment. Great selection of beer and cider on tap. Perfect place to come for a cold beverage after walking around the botanic gardens.

A group of 6 of us Had dinner on the balcony on friday. Lovely location.
We ordered 3 Fish n chips. 2 pulled pork burgers and One chicken salad.
Every single item except the burgers were smothered in salt. So much salt on the chips you could not eat them unless you scraped the salt of every chip. As you can see in the photos . The fish was also covered in salt. It ruined the food. We complained to a waitress. She said. I'll tell the chef and never came back.
Not happy as a lot of food wasted.

Use to have fond memories of this pub and the upmarket pub food it provided, so when the opportunity arose to have dinner somewhere before a show nearby my mind instantly thought of the Stag as a good Valentine dinner venue.
Unfortunately the food was so salty it was unpleasant to eat. The outside was burnt and dry requiring me to remove most of the schnitzel crumb and the 'salad' was lettuce with feta on it.
Incredibly disappointed even more so considering the cost is on the higher end of a pub schnitzel price.

The wait to be served on a busier than usual Sunday afternoon was a bit longer than it should've been. When our cheeseburgers arrived it was simplified to just the amazing basics. Too good for a photo. Nice chill sounds and some interesting pics on the wall to spark conversation!

Visited on a Friday afternoon as a group with a booking.
Shop was surprisingly empty when we first arrived at 12pm, but started to fill up at about 1.30pm. There was also a live performance which was pretty nice and added to the atmosphere. Wait at the bar wasn't too long and service was great.

Food: 9/10 - only cause portion could have been slightly bigger for the price
Price: 8/10
Atmosphere: 10/10
Service: 10/10

Short cocktail list, but Katie makes a fantastic Mojito, recommended.

Great live music with Dusty Lee Stephenson.

Nice environment to eat and drink in.

The stag has a problem with customer communication. I left messages in multiple ways, no one answered. Couldn't find a phone number for the Stag.

Great daytime lunch vibe with live music - awesome performer with solid song choices! The food was delicious (Barra burger and lamb pie) and free house wine/beer with each meal purchase - pretty impressive. Laid-back and quality service, a must-go venue!

Food was okay but overpriced. I am okay with an East End premium but I expect that premium to be reflected in quality. Schnitzels particularly poor on several visits. Staff helpful and patient.

My chicken parmi was way too thick and seemed to have parts that were under cooked. Not impressed

Great place to hangout with your buddies, vibe is super fun, staff is efficient and friendly. And omggg food is just so amazing we took some chips (so so so good and thin and crispy) Korean chicken and grilled cauliflower salad. Everything tasted very good. We also took some beers, wine and cocktails. Totally fun place to go.

After looking at the menu, which has limited vegetarian options, I settled for the eggplant parmigiana. Although it tasted okay, I was very disappointed with the size of the schnitzel especially when considering the price ($26). It was not an acceptable portion and was less than half the size of the chicken parmigiana. I recommend adding an extra eggplant schnitzel to the serve to boost morale.

Chicken schnitzel was first class with a good side serving. Beers good on tap. Nice people.
