Love this place for some coffee and cakes. Highly recommend their lemon and raspberry tarts. Coffee and Baileys are nice too. Price guide small cake (I'd say 1 serve for 1 person) was $16.50 (Sep 2024), larger cake size $65, so price wise I'd say reasonable for its quality, comparable to Le Petit gateau which is one of my favorites cake shops. Elegant setting.

The high tea at The Waiting Room (TWR) is one of the best in Melbourne, and their recent Aperol High Tea was no exception.

Seated at a cozy inside table, we were welcomed with refreshing Aperol Spritz cocktails on arrival. (For diners after a bit of people watching, you may want to request an "outside" table that overlooks the vast lobby of Crown Towers.)

The ingredients at TWR are always of high quality. Instead of the standard high tea menu, TWR incorporates fancy twists using Aperol inspired tastes. We loved the freshness of the Tangerine Infused Smoked Trout, Crab & Fennel Salad, on Beetroot Broiche. The Asian-inspired Sticky Crispy Chicken in Charcoal Bao was also another delightfully tasty treat and a good variation from the predominately western menu.

The Pana Cotta with Aperol Spritz Jelly was the highlight of the desserts. The jelly wasn't overly sweet, and it was pleasant to finish off the meal with some smooth panna cotta.

We also got to take home the Aperol & Marshmallow Chocolate gift box. I am not the biggest chocolate fan, but these chocolates were incredible.

I hadn't really tried their savoury selections (apart from those that were part of their high tea), but the cakes were lovely; typical modern mousse-based desserts but they all had nice flavour and texture combinations. Coffee wasn't the best but tried their frappes recently and they were delicious; caramel & matcha were so flavourful though the coffee in the coffee frappe was quite weak. Service was prompt and friendly. Absolutely loved the modern, dim-lit luxurious ambiance.

Very cool spot in crown just in the entrance foyer. The cakes looks so unreal and great headturner. As soon as I saw it I knew I had to dine here. Just had a hot chocolate and cake, same with my guest. The hot chocolate was made to perfection and the cakes tasted as amazing as they looked. Will be coming back for sure.

It's been over 7 years since I've had high tea in the waiting room and I vividly recall they made the scones to order when you were ready for them. My latest visit was on Mother's Day so I'm not sure if that concept was abandoned due to being fully booked or if they no longer offer it but regardless the service was seamless and the food was delicious. Sitting inside offers a lovely atmosphere also. The tier itself was visually stunning and we were gifted some yummy aperol chocolates for the occasion which was a lovely gesture. My only gripe is when you are paying $109 per person the crockery should be beautiful not plain white hideousness that could have come from Kmart
