Second time I've dined there and each time the food has been just fantastic, great value for money.
The service though is where they shine - really nice staff who just go out of their way to provide a wonderful experience.

We had our engagement party at the Western, and it was nothing short of amazing! The staff were wonderful, the food was amazing and the venue looked beautiful!

Went to the Western Hotel with a group of 11 seniors. Made welcome the moment we walked through the door. Service and meals were excellent. Second time this group has been and will definitely be back

Bad Service and average food. The waitress in the lounge kept staring at us as if waiting for is to hurry up and finish our lunchtime meal cuz she haf to be somewhere. Rude bar staff who cut you off whilst ordering meals. Wont be back here again, once again poor Ballarat service not intetested in keeping return customers.

We had a lovely meal at the Western Saturday night..was pleasantly surprised when I walked in, hadn't been there for years, is a warm and inviting atmosphere and the food didn't disappoint! Will come again.

We were told we would have to wait around 25mins for our meals, that wasn't the case they arrived early. Thank you for the delicious food on Mother's Day, we will definitely be returning.

Shared a meal and drinks with friends who knew the publican and enjoyed the banter. My friend also shared some stories showing what a top bloke the publican is. The meals were great and delivered quickly even though the place was busy. Friendly atmosphere with people all around having a good time in a respectful way.

We had our belated Christmas party dinner on Saturday evening and it could not have been better.

Had a birthday dinner at the Western Hotel on Fri. Outstanding service from all staff (including a couple of trainees) on a very busy night. We arrived early but the table was ready for us. The meals were delicious and the birthday cake brought out at just the right time making it a memorable occasion.

A group of friends and I spent a number of the Women's World Cup games at this awesome pub, the staff couldn't have been more accommodating, making sure we had a table near the tv, serving us delicious meals and drinks and even staying open late so we could scream at the television ?

For a group of people who have spent decades getting up in the early hours of the morning to watch World Cup games it was great to have somewhere so welcoming to cheer on the Matilda's.

I would highly recommend this great venue.

We took family there for a meal and it did not disappoint. The steaks were beautifully cooked and the other meals delicious. The waiting staff were attentive and followed up after meal delivery to check we had everything we needed. Well done.

Had a really enjoyable family dinner out. Menu had lots of great options, and we all really enjoyed our food. The sweet potato rostis were delicious! Excellent service and a great atmosphere.

My partner had the beef burger and I had the risotto. Both meals were delicious. The beef burger was huge and juicy, and the risotto was perfect.

I have eaten at this venue twice in 10 days with a friend and then with my family, excellent service , food delicious and great bar service also .Both experiences were delightful. I changed my booking twice and there was no issues . The staff here are great and I thought it was so well managed . Weldone everyone at the western and thank you .

Shared a lovely Sunday lunch, food was delicious. Pumpkin quiche was great and then had the Best sticky date pudding ever! Service was excellent, friendly staff. Easy to find in the Main Street. Highly recommend The Western Hotel.

Tried this pub on a Friday night as we are looking for a regular after work drinking venue. After being ignored at the bar for 15mins while everyone around me was served, I got to order drinks and a meal. Staff are young, naive and unfriendly. Smiles from us were met with surly responses. Our meals came quickly and were delicious but expensive. My meal was half the size of my colleagues though. A tall, middle aged guy did approach our table and ask how the meal was, but did not wait to hear our response. And despite being half empty it is a very noisy place.

Sadly not the warm, friendly experience we are looking for!

We asked for extra gravy for a kids meal and were told it wolud cost an extra $2. And we would have to line up at the bar to order it. Then when we did it took half an hour for it to turn up at the table. The kids chips were cold by this time. Bad customer survice. The waitress was rude . We won't be going back here for a meal ever again.

My partner and I had dinner here at the The Western Hotel, we had the flathead and open chicken souv, staff were great, good ambient vibe, the food came very promptly too, very generous serving and really fresh!
Definitely will come again!

Only went here for drinks in the bar, in the past I have eaten in the bistro as well. The place is large, the service is good and the food is classic pub food. Not particularly intimate or quiet though.

We celebrated my Dad's 70th here and it was just perfect. The beer garden was a great spot for a party on a warm summer evening. The staff were all friendly and helpful and the food was delicious and plentiful. Thank you everyone for a great night.

Went as a group of about 20, meals were great, service was fast, we ordered a varied range from the menu and everybody was very happy with meals.

Been there twice now.
Both times my steak has been cooked at the right level of doneness, which is something I've found other pubs having difficulty with in the past.
Food is good, reasonably priced and kids meals also good. Good beers on tap. Friendly and helpful staff willing to make changes to menu items.

The Western Hotel is a sensational venue in Ballarat. Easy to get to. Great location. Plenty of room for big crowds. Service was excellent. Katrina behind the bar was brilliant. She couldn't do enough to enable us to be comfortable and welcomed. Food was amazing and good coffee. If you are looking for a great meal or a big session, would recommend this Pub.

Such a great place that has a wonderful atmosphere. The staff serve you with a smile even when they are super busy. The place looks and feels well looked after.
The Western has a great menu and ample seating. My kids and I enjoy coming here.

Stayed in a room with a double bed for 1 night. Cute rooms with shared bathrooms just what we needed on our way through on a road trip. Easy check in and check out. They've got a small shared kitchen as well which was handy. The pub was closing by the time we got there so didn't get to try it out but looked super cute!

Lovely atmosphere great pub meal. Parking out the front can be a little hard to get out off but side street parking is better.
