Well located right next to the Petersham train station. Great relaxed family friendly atmosphere, fresh, clean decor. Good selection of beers, quality food at reasonable pub prices. Friendly service.

Great variety of beers, great food,excellent ambience and easy to travel to. Right up there with my top favourites. Plus points for ample dining spaces with provision of high chairs for the little ones! Personally love the fried chicken burger!

Great local pub: interesting, but comfy and relaxed fit out. Reasonable tap beer and wine selection.
Good mix of indoor and outdoor spaces.
Kid friendly (although doesn't have any apecific kids stuff like the playroom at Henson Park or the old truck at the Salisbury).

Classic old school corner pub, which looks fairly unassuming from the street, but it's a bit like the tardis: it opens up inside to a big front bar and lovely courtyard and dining area out the back. Terrific pub menu, with all the classics and a half way decent wine list too! Some cocktails are tap pour, which is a fail and sometimes the bar staff are a tad apathetic to the whole situation (we've been there plenty of times) but aside from that, it's an excellent pub for a day, or night beverage or two and some classic pub fare.

Great pub just in front of the Petersham station. The venue is quite big and has lots of different sitting areas to choose from including beer bardens.

Bookings probably a good idea for Friday and weekends but during the week you can usually find tables for food without any reservations.
I've noted seeing few dogs in a certain area so I'm assuming it's pet friendly too but you can always call to check if you need to bring your pooch with you.
Large screens for sports enthusiasts too. Sadly on my last visit and contrary to the website, it indicates that children aren't permitted in the front bar. On this evening dinner attempt, the front bar resembled a childrens creche and party for children. Too many children!!!

We love it here so fun to take the kids with the arcade games, pool room, pink lemonade and hot chips. Definitely a family favourite. My phone died and they let me charge it. We did have some rude guys start smoking cigarettes in a non smoking area right next to the kids, I had to tell them to stop but that's not on the venue some people are just shocking. Anyway love love love definitely recommend.

Lovely local pub.

Feels like they have a new menu and I went for the Tuscan seafood stew. Great mix of seafood and the broth was delicious. The bread helped mop this up. It was a big stew pot also. It would have been nice to have a few more prawns.

Awesome local, with a great vintage, rustic finish with some modern touches. Something for everyone. Great front bar for sports and Friday catch-ups. Brilliant bistro area for families and group dinners. Food great, awesome selection of brews...staff can be a hot and cold at bar. But generally a super pro group of hospitality vets pull this place through.

Superb local pub that pretty much ticks all the boxes. The outdoor areas are dog friendly. A few different spaces inside that's cosy and rustic at same time, lending to a comfy hangout place to hang out with mates or your date for a while. Different 'what's on' events Mon-Fri. Importantly, there's many local craft beers on tap to choose from (ranging from $9-$12 for a schooner), and the food is really decent in terms of price and taste - you'll find the typical pub faves like burgers, parmis, but also they have the more refined options like ceviche, shared platter boards, brisket lasagne, Angus steaks, pan fried barramundi, and their pastas are Yum!! Great friendly staff too. This will be one I'll keep going back to when I can't decide what I want to eat. Cheap, cheerful, comfy, easy. This is how to run a local pub!

Overall a great quality pub that has family friendly vibes. They do everything well and there's no complaints. Feels like a safe and non regrettable option if you're in the area. Easily caters to large groups when booking ahead.

Vibes are amazing. Music was so cool. General atmosphere was sooo nice. Staff were very happy and friendly. Big variety of beers. Food was average. Would definitely be back.

This is an excellent local. Trivia, badge draws, meat tray raffles. Great food on the menu, very good quality for the price and members gets 10% off. Really fun vibe and just recently renovated and dog friendly. The KFC halloumi were the best!

Great pub great atmosphere
Lots of beer and wine to choose from. Both had the brisket Lasagne which was nice but disappointing lacking in salt an flavour. We will be back to try something else on the menu.

Good menu options for both drinks and food. I got the chicken burger and I was delicious, very crispy. My friend got the arancini and really enjoyed it, specially the sauce. Food portions are huge by looking at the plate of people around us, good value too. Our food didn't take too long to arrive and service was really good. And is pet friendly which is always a bonus!

Just a damn good pub. Beautiful indoor/outdoor feel and dogs are welcome. Staff are lovely and great selection of beers. Was a little disappointed that the gyoza was actually stuffed chicken wings and not gyoza, but still a good fusion attempt. Will absolutely be back.

I remember coming here before the renovation,
I was a child and this was when you could have kids in the pub as long as they stayed more than 10ft or whatever it was from the bar,
The air smelled of beer, and the dim light felt like this twilight world,
The pool tables felt like red velvet and the atmosphere was both still and alive with mystery.

I think this might have been the first pub I ever walked into,

I think this is the first place I ever played pool.

I stopped in here once in the last year,
The first time I'd been back in decades.

I was surprised at the newness of the place,
But then, everything changes,
I wasn't surprised to see a Wizard sitting in the corner,

I wonder about what makes Petersham that kind of place,

Excellent hotel - for a meal or drinks. Great aesthetic, friendly staff, solid range of craft beers and other alcoholic drinks.

If you're bringing a large group at a peak time (like a Friday or Saturday night) it's definitely best to book ahead if you can, as there's probably a lot of other people with the same idea as you. But if it's more like 4-5 people you shouldn't have any dramas.

Price-wise, drinks are good and jugs of beer are reasonably priced. The food is in the higher end for this sort of pub food, but the quality is definitely there.

Check when Trivia is on: it becomes pretty damn noisy and packed when it is. (We played, we did terribly!)

Overpriced pub food passed off as restaurant quality. I'm not sure what it is about this place and the Henson that attracts people in droves. Charge more for basic pub food and 'craft' beer, blast out some tunes, and reap the rewards. Edit: I kind of like it as long as I don't think about the beer prices!

Good beer selection, friendly staff, solid pub grub, spacious with outside patio, great location next to Petersham train, all in all well worth a visit. Or two.
Rereading this review 3 years on and wondering why I didn't give them 5*... one of my Inner West faves, would love to have this pub in Croydon!

I come here fairly regularly, as I live in the area. There is a decent selection of tap beer, and they have a small in-house takeaway bottle store. The food is decent, although the menu hasn't changed much in the last year. The beef burger in particular is solid, with a Big Mac type sauce. A great local pub.
